Do you remember when someone told you that you have to cut silveros' tail in mhfu? And then you get to the tail and instantly die because it does as much damage, whatever is the current monster's state (attacking with tail does as much damage as getting hit by it when the monster screams for example, and if it makes its *i'm mad so i scratch the ground* animation: IT . HITS . 3 . TIMES . A SECOND. Meaning you get practically oneshoted by it whatever is your armor, weapon or whatever you're doing as long it makes you go under the tail.)

YES! I HATED GARUGA IN 4U. So was in PTSD mode when it came in Iceborne. But then the fight began and now... it's up there with Seething and Ruiner as one of my favourite fights. They took out all the BS with moves that had no tell, or obvious way to avoid. But still kept it's insane personality. Tons of moves that keep you on your toes, but never feels unfair.

I disagree. I feel that i IB they did him dirty. He feels so slow and is attacks do like no damage. Not to mention he has odogaron tail flip levels of tiny hitbox attacks. The moveset changes are good, but he's slow, does no damage,has tny hitboxes and only has 2 turf wars ( both of which suck) and he honestly just feels like a pathetic, crippled version of himself. Very similar to deadeye in that regard for me.

@@Khezu_in_the_mountain fair enough. About a year ago (after playing through world) I went back to 4u. Admittedly I had a much better time against him. I think that was mostly personal experience. But still I hated the times that him and even kut ku would just lunge forward with no warning. Felt cheap. Are there any fights in IB that you think are cheap? Or maybe a better way of phrasing it... any you do find challenging? And just so I can get an idea, what weapons do you use? Yesterday I was taking on a tempered lunastra in the GL. I can take on most of the game fairly cleanly, but she... she still does my head in. I died like 2 or 3 times.

MHW was my first MH game. So i didn't know Rathalos before. The first time i fought him with a friend we barely manage to kill him. But it was awesome and really satisfying. I loved him since than and Silverlos even more. He is my favorite Monster and i'm pretty sad that his armor isn't that great.

Mhfu is the one that gave me nightmares. The tail oneshots you when it isn't attacking. I'm not joking, the tail kills you actually faster than silveros' most damaging attack ( the claw attack, insane damage, gives poison and ALWAYS stuns you). Oh and the tail is hard as sh*t to cut cause of the sharpness needed and the amount of damage you have to deal. The only way you can cut the tail is by making him fall and by putting 4 entire combos on the very end of it.

Although quite a niche thing I really enjoyed how they changed up my experience as a former Great Sword main (I really dislike the Greatsword in World) when I first fought them in 2nd G . The way I had to relearn charge timings and positioning to hit the wings or their "shoulder" where the wings connected to their body instead of the head made it feel like an entirely different fight and I really enjoyed them in that game.

Hey Herny, great video! I just want to comment on what you said about these kinds of videos as the start, about trying to compare them without having a "clear winner". Honestly, even if your goal is to make the comparison as fair and as "objective" as possible, I think it's totally fine to be honest with yourself and your audience about your own preferences when you make them. Our feelings are always going to influence the way we analyze and compare monsters (or most things related to game design). If our goal is to be fair and objective, we have to take a step back and take stock of those preferences, and I think it's best to share what we've noted with the audience so they can understand where we're coming from, so that we can compare our own tastes and experiences with yours when we take in your info and your arguments. For example, for the Ranjang comparison video, as someone who had watched your Generations Rajang guide a few times, it was pretty clear to me that you loved that monster's original design and that this was informing the frustrations you were sharing with new Rajang. But for me, who rarely hunted it in the old games and who ended up getting a ton of Tempered Rajang T3 investigations in Iceborne, I ended up liking new Rajang a bit more; and knowing where you're coming from, what your preconceptions about the monster were, it was a lot easier to understand and consider your thoughts on new vs old Rajang. I'm sure I'm not teaching you anything you haven't already considered, but personally as an audience member, I enjoy it when creators open up about their own thoughts and feelings when they analyze games (and media and general), even if it's just to give us a "disclaimer" of sorts.

Man I'm so glad you talked about how clutch claw actually makes some fights better. It's something I hardly ever hear when people talk about the pros and cons of the clutch claw, and although I still think the claw has a lot of flaws, it has the potential to make flying enemy fights in particular much more fun. Velkhana is my favorite monster in Iceborne, partly because I just really like icy dragons, but also because I think the fight is exceptionally well designed. What's relevant to this conversation though is how 2 out of Velkhana's 3 flying attacks, which also happen to be the most common ones she uses in the air, can be completely dodged using clutch claw. This allows the fight itself to work in weakening her sides and wings much better once you understand that these flying attacks are openings for clutch weakening, just like Silverlos and Goldian do. Anyways, great vid as per usual Herny!

@1:40 I'm not sure I see what the issue is. The video was meant to address the grievances with the new Rajang in comparison to the old. It was a far more critical video because you had genuine critiques of the new Rajang. Maybe this is a "creator disgruntled with his own work" syndrome very common among creative people such as yourself, but I think this self-beat up was a biiiiit unnecessary. To be fair tho I hate new Rajang so a video honestly analyzing his moveset and pointing out the clear design flaws in his fight instead of the typical "lol git gud scrub" I get from this community was a bit cathartic so I can't say I'm not biased.

Mashing the stick DOES actually help in Iceborne, it's just not as significant as it was in old titles. In past games you would be stunned for like 40 seconds if you did nothing, but now it's only a little bit longer if you don't mash.

The clutch claw was a great additions in my opinion, though some weapons got a better upgrade than others. The only thing I would agree on is maybe extending the wound mechanic to soften monsters. Or at least have a decoration to do it.

In GU we had many hunter arts that were supposed to help us against Metal Raths, but I just can't beat these guys since I was so used to fight them with old school CB from 4U, I still can't believe I can easily sub 12 (not speedrunner of course) Ahtal-Ka with most blademaster weapons but not even sub 30 the Metal Raths, my PS4 died right before Iceborne came so I wasn't able to try the new Raths but hearing that they got so many improvements fill me with joy since I always loved their designs
