👍🏽Thank you Hillary! It took me 3 years to find my enneagram type as I could easily be any of them: I am a perfectionist (1) who loves being appreciated for my work (2). I'm supremely driven to succeed (3) and use creativity in everyday life (4). I value knowledge and solitude (5), can be paranoid and anxious about the loyalty of others (6). I live life to the fullest and want to experience all the things (7). I hate vulnerability and like to be in control (8), I enjoy the comforts of life and I'm always seeking inner peace (9). Motivation is what clued me into my enneagram which is type 4w5. I had to be honest and really go there. I realised everything I do in life boils down to one word: Significance. It's why I want to be appreciated. It's why I chase after achievements and why I want to control my destiny. Insignificance terrifies me to the point of tears. It was hard to accept being a 4 but it's who I am and I'm okay with that. Definite part 2 please!

I've recently had to make peace with being a 7w6 after about 3 years too. I knew from the get-go that I'm in the head triad, but could not decide which one. I just didn't want to face it. I was really convinced that I am a countertype 6, but I felt a little foreign to some of the 6 characteristics (even as a countertype). Being labeled a 7 just brought up so much resistance in me. It hilighted things I didn't want to acknowledge as true. I'm pretty sure most people feel a bit of hurt/embarrassment/sadness/vulnerability when they finally get to their true type. It's how the healing starts. Xxx

Wow. Wow. Wow. I absolutely love how you identify so many types (all of them) but you dug even deeper and were honest with yourself and looked at what was really motivating you. This is such a great look into figuring out your type. Thank you for sharing! ❤️

I remember when I was figuring out my type, I was going between 6 & 9, so my therapist had me listen to different podcasts about 6s and 9s, and I ultimately landed on 6

I never thought about using healthy/unhealthy sides of wings until you said that. It's an interesting point I hadn't considered. The 7 stress cleaning is funny, because that's what clued me in that a coworker might be a 7 a few years ago. Every 4-6 weeks, she'll get really angry at everyone for 'not being able to do anything right' and rearranges the furniture in her office. My brother is a 7 and has his own version of that. When he's mad at the world, he alphabetizes something in the house. Glad to know things came out in the clear. Sorry about your mom.

Yeah I don’t think our numbers change. But I do think that during different stages of life we tap into one subtype more then the others.

I'm pretty sure I'm a Self-pres 9, but if I do get openly angry/critical, its in a very righteous moralizing way against some grave injustice that I just think is completely beyond what's acceptable...which happens more and more often. I'm honestly considering saving up some money and selling everything I own and immigrating from USA to Australia because I'm gobsmacked at the political situation lately and how people in my local community are acting.

Not gonna lie being a 9 with everything causing conflict is hard right now…at least for me. Thanks for sharing! I have thought about selling everything and moving to somewhere else too 😅

@@enneagramandcoaching When you think about it; all types can be draining. As a 6, I crave security and lots of people in the world don't. I think the frustration types (1, 4 and 7) would have the most problems with not having their needs or expectations met.

I believe that enneagram doesn’t change over time. Bbbbut… every time I take the test - it’s ranges from 9,1,4,and 5. And I definitely relate to all!! 😅 Do I just not know myself or is there a reason for this? ☠️ I’ve done a ton of research and I just get more and more confused.

If you were a 1w9 or a 4w5 that would include 3 of the types already (1 and 4 can integrate into each other), but don't base it off this only its just a thought I had. It's very much possible that you are a 5w4/4w5 or 9w1/1w9 since you relate to these types, but to find out for sure, you should look at the core motivations again. You can also watch videos about the differences between the different triads. While the 1 and 9 are part of the Gut Triad, the 4 is part of the Heart Triad and the 5 is part of the Head Triad. Since you relate to 2 types of the Gut Triad I think that it's more likely one of those two, but it's just a possibility still. Also what helped me decide when I thought I was perhaps a 2 was looking at the wings. The 1 and 3 are types I definitely can't relate to, and that's how I knew that I wasn't a 2. That doesnt always work, but sometimes it does. So, about the core motivations. As I said it's best if you watch a video of an enneagram coach like this one, but with a focus on the different Triads or specifically your potential types. But what I can say is: don't let yourself get confused with the stereotypes. And just because you prefer peace doesn't mean you're a 9, for example. There's always some kind of fear involved in enneagram, fear of conflicts for example. Go by that and I wish you good luck! (ps: I hope it's alright that I wrote this much I didn't want to leave anything out and I didn't know how to cut it short)
