Do you think you're an Enneagram Type 8, The Challenger? Or have a Type 8 in your Top 3 but you just aren't 100% sure? In this video I go over the Enneagram Type 8 vs 1-9. My most asked question is around figuring out Your Core Type and this is the last video is the series. My hope is that this video answers any questions around figuring out your type. Enjoy!

Thanks for the video! I was wondering if I was type 5 or 8 (my tritype is 584) and this question of whether or not you trust your head's reasoning or your gut instinct really nailed it for me! Even though my gut instinct is rarely wrong, I still don't trust it nearly as much as I should. I've also been writing a character in a series of stories I've been working on for eons (mostly as an on and off project when I have time/inspiration) and he's very much a self-preservation 8w9, which is something that developed completely organically before I even heard about the Enneagram. I've written him some as a teen/young adult and he takes on a lot of the unhealthy 5 characteristics (due to stress and trauma), then when he's much, much older, he starts to take on a lot of the healthy 2 characteristics and allows himself to be vulnerable and loving with his family. I just thought it was cool how the Enneagram has a lot of interesting applications and thought I'd share ^_^ As a side note, some of my favorite Starbuck's drinks are their Iced Caffe Mocha with Oat Milk and No Whip (dairy allergies are fun /sarcasm) and I also enjoy their Pink Dragon drink.

Eight vs. nine “more than likely not a mistype” 😂😂😂 when we took our tests, my husband was 98% type 8 and something like 43% type 9 (the lowest % of all nine types), and I was 98% type 9 and 43% type 8 (again, lowest of all the types for me). Opposites do attract! Loved the series and am looking forward to the subtypes!

I love your videos, Hillary! They’ve not only helped me embrace my God-given personality, but continue to grow intimately with Him! 💗 I now co-lead a youth girls group using your Enneagram techniques for emotional health and self-awareness. You’re so inspiring! I’m a Social 8w9, and would love to watch more videos on that Enneatype! We usually hear lots about the loud Type 8’s and little on us more gentle and subdued types. I think it’s so important to break the common stereotype! Praying for your ministry and God Bless 🌷

This comment is such a blessing to me. Amazing timing. God always knows. Thank you for sharing how my videos have helped you and also that you’re leading a youth girls group using these tools! Love this! I do have a few videos where I interview my type 8w9 husband. I’ll link one for ya in case you haven’t seen them. And I totally agree with the 8 stereotype! I will be doing more videos on the 8w9. Thank you again for blessing me with your comment today! And thank you for your prayers! ❤️

Is it common for an 8 to present as another type when around new people or those we don’t trust? I get mistyped as a 1 all the time, and I realize that that is how I act in many environments where I don’t know people very well. Initially, I was between 5 and 8, but realized that I don’t have a fear of not knowing something, but rather a craving for knowledge, as data helps me make decisions.
@enneagramandcoaching4 жыл бұрын
I could see that being the case with the 8 and 1...those two look alike. I would say it’s not common for the 8 to present as another type but for sure can happen.
@Hallfreakyzoid4 жыл бұрын
The “craving” sounds like a 7 though. I kind of think of 7’s as hungry for life experiences but this could be extended to hungry for knowledge. 7’s are thinkers (which could be the appreciation for knowledge). Additionally, you can have an 8 wing that describes those traits you feel you have (assertiveness, etc.)
@francesca.pellegrino4 жыл бұрын
@@Hallfreakyzoid that’s interesting. I see that as further support that I’m an 8w7, given that I refuse to bow down to anyone, especially when that person is unworthy of power. I’m much more triggered by seeing people abuse power, even if I personally am unaffected, than I am by being bored.

Thank you so much for this video! My son is an 8w9 and I had kind of questioned whether that was the right wing but hearing your explanation, I think that is right. When he was younger he was much more outgoing and I think he may have been an 8w7 but we had three major life changing events in about a 14 month period and he went through some depression and I think those events impacted him a lot. Some people question whether he's really an 8 but I can see it. White Chocolate Mocha with a pump of toffee nut!!! Toffee nut ROCKS! I get it as a Frappucinno but I would imagine it's good as a different type of drink too.
@enneagramandcoaching4 жыл бұрын
8w9s can look so different than the typical stereotype of an 8. And it’s so true that we will use one wing more when we are younger and then swing over the other one. Sorry your son has been through so much ❤️ As a mom of two boys this can be so hard. And thank you for the drink idea! Can’t wait to try it!

I have 3 that I alternate through: 1. Tenti White Tea Lemonade with Strawberries and Blackberries and a pump of Vanilla Syrup 2. A Venti Carmel Macchiato with Almond Milk and sometimes an extra shot of espresso if I'm extra sleepy. 3. A Cold Salted Cream Cold Brew (since its fall now the Pumpkin Salted Carmel Cold Brew is my number 4) I get all my drinks with milk substitutes because I am allergic to dairy. Not intolerant, allergic.

I actually can't decide if I am a 8w9 or 9w8 because on the one hand, I am definetly not a leader and my self-esteem is very low, but on the other hand, people often see me as assertive. Most of the time I don't want to make decisions and let others decide but I won't do anything that I don't want to! I hate conflicts but I am not afraid of them, I am more afraid of negative emotions that I might feel and I hate it cause I feel weak and like there is nothing I can do about it. So, the struggle between 9 and 8 is real :))

I’m just now getting into this and trying to figure out what type I am. It’s interesting you said confusion between whether someone is type 8 or type 5 is rare. But that’s exactly what I am. LOL. I can’t figure out which one I am. I took an online test and I had a higher response rate for type 8 but I was classified as type 5 because it was the second highest response rate, but they were really close. When I read the descriptions, I resonate with aspects of both types and there are aspects of both that I don’t resonate with at all. I am very logical/analytical, so I very much rely on my “head” and ability to use reason. I spend a lot of time reading and researching. But I also very much “trust my gut” especially when sizing up new people (and I’m usually right-LOL). I think I might either be a very social/extroverted type 5 or a more introverted type 8. I am social/outgoing and friendly at work and almost all social situations but I can withdraw/detach when stressed/upset. I will absolutely engage in confrontation (especially when confronted) but I will usually withdraw/detach first. Is possible to be both types?
@sparklefulpaladin Жыл бұрын
I have a lot of both 5 and 8 in me, but I very much looked at what my motivations were and ultimately, I trust my mind more than I trust my gut instincts (even though my gut instincts are almost always correct). If you're stuck between the two, you may have both in your tritype (kind of one per head/heart/gut).

I am so so so stuck between a 4 and an 8. I am extremely vulnerable and emotional with people like a 4. I always make decisions with my feelings. I literally am my feelings. I don’t mind melancholy. I’m a realist and I don’t have any issue talking about depressing subjects. I like talking about my feelings and I love therapy.. lol. I am a extreme leader like a type 8. I confront issues head on and can’t stand when people beat around the bush. My biggest fear is not being in control. I can’t live with other people because I feel the need to control everything in my environment. I’m very confrontational when there’s a wrong doing and have often been seen as unapproachable and come off as mean.
