This is a song dedicated to their late drummer. Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan. RIP. Syn’s guitar usually says SYN on the neck. This video it says REV. It’s looking back on their childhood and growing up with him. Touching song.

"Elitist" & "gatekeeper" remarks leveled against others is the easy way out. The United States of America would never have come into existence if it were not for criticism & dissension, don't forget it. Freedom of expression, including the freedom to criticize, promotes liberty and tolerance, while censorship, including self-censorship, destroys these very same values that have been given to us at great cost, a cost that continues to be paid. Differences should be appreciated, including differences of opinion, they should not be punished by the overly sensitive, the easily offended & those with fragile eggshell minds, or those with tender sensibilities that are easily bruised. Everyone deserves a seat at the table, even though everyone is not going to get everything they want. Just put your big boy pants on & counter the criticism with contentions of your own, valid assertions, that's how it works. Those that are intolerant bigots are also those that love slapping labels on others. I guess if you're incapable of constructively arguing against criticisms, well then one & two word labels are the way to go for you.

Nobody can make a guitar cry quite like Syn at that ending. You can just feel the sadness, the longing in that final solo. That guitar cries for the Rev, longs for him, and he's So Far Away. So this is one of the songs that always draws a tear from me . One of my best friends died 6 months before the rev did . So all of us were devastated by his loss then I remember being at my best friends house when we got the news that the rev had passed. This song helped us with our friends passing and yet we all grieved with Avenged Sevenfold also . Our friend who name was Caleb reminded us of the rev . Full of life and taken too soon . He was 16. The emotion in this song always brings me to tears . To play like they did and how they held together gave so many people hope . I had a chance to see them live before he died and my dad said I couldn’t go . When he realized why I wanted to go so bad after he had heard he died he told me I’m sorry sweetheart I owe you . Yet he passed my senior year . The song I had dedicated to my dad was gunslinger by A7X . I always think of them all having a beer at a huge table. This is the point of metal of music to inspire and heal and bring everyone together. I never thought that the last time I saw Caleb alive would have been one of the best nights of my life . God even 12 years later i still cant even listen to this without tearing up. A big part that Alex, i think you missed out on, was that the bits of the music video that's not old photos and videos is literally a recreation of the band growing up - they knew each other IRL since middleschool at least, and they literally grew up as a friend group. Avenged Sevenfold was originally their old garageband, they released their demo tape that would later be expanded into Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, their debut, when they were just 18. They were together as a band and as friends constantly since they formed in 99 and the only real time they were apart to any degree was when James died. So when this came out and we all realised what we were watching, it was such a fucking gutpunch. They say Nightmare was the Rev's tribute track and honestly i think it pales in comparison to this. Christ i'm crying writing this 😂

The Stage was a pretty big let-down to me overall. They took the worst song off Hail to the King, which was Planets, and then built a whole album off of it. The song was fine, but the first verse had that weird melody that doesn't fit at all, the one when he sings "No need for counsel, I appreciate the time, I'm not alone." The melody during the first part, "No need for counsel, I appreciate the time" just feels so weird to me. Sounds out of tune, and feels weird AF. So does the same line in verse two, " Would overlook the ugliness and fantasize." Just feels so weird. The whole album sounds rushed. Like they were not quite done with it and were like, "Good enough." And then just released it.

I've always found this song a tough listen. Not because it's bad, but because of the pure emotion this song holds. The talent these guys have in unreal. Especially Synyster Gates with the guitar lines he plays toward the end. It's amazing how you can feel their pain through just a guitar line. Been going through your channel and watching your Avenged reactions, then I came across this, and for some reason I was feeling emotional. It's one thing to hear the song, but with the video along side it it's just heartbreaking. Anyway I cried like a bitch

All your A7X stuff has been new. Gotta hear some old stuff. Their early sound was much different. Unholy Confessions would be a great early avenged sevenfold song to react to! the other reason for you to hear some early avenged sevenfold is so you can actually hear the revs amazing and unique style of drumming

This album does rule, on hail to the king the revs presence was missed big time, but since they added brooks they bounced back well with the stage which was really dope and a whole new direction for them, I’m really excited to see what their new album sounds like.
@WSlopeAggie3 жыл бұрын
Well, their self-titled was their peak IMO due to the insane amount of variation within the album, in every sense, but yes Nightmare has been their peak aside from that.
@puppetmaster85513 жыл бұрын
@@WSlopeAggie I appreciate the variance in that album and love it but strongly disagree that is their peak. COE/WTF/Nightmafe are all widely considered their best albums, COE and WTF are both pretty much perfect albums with not one song that’s anything less than great, self titled is great and has some of their best songs but I don’t think it has the consistency of their best albums. Still love it tho and still have songs like brompton cocktail/almost easy in consistent rotation, just think songs like dear god/lost/unbound are worse than anything on COE or WTF or even nightmare.
