@instincthype36306 жыл бұрын
@@zsr1352 Not hating. I think Fiction is the tribute due to the fact that Matthew was thinking about keeping the song unreleased. Then he took to the studio and added his own vocals into the song. The Rev died due to an enlarged heart back in 2009. He helped write a lot of lyrics for that album and wrote all of the drum parts but died before recording started, so they recorded the album in his honor with Mike Portnoy (The Revs favorite drummer) on drums. Fun fact for ya, they incorporated Jacobs Ladder into the video because it was The Revs favorite movie. The drum kit at the end of the video was The Revs triple bass kit from the 2008 Taste of Chaos tour.

The creepiest and saddest part to me is hearing his voice on it.

Kyle Vaughan the significance of the song doesnt mean the song wasnt written about Syns grandfather. If the song was written before Jimmy's passing, you cant say it was written about him. In tribute is not the same as about. Natural Born Killer is a perfect example. You cant twist the meaning of the lyrics to Jimmys death.

This song wasnt actually a tribute per se anymore than the entire album basicly. Nightmare was more or less finished when he passed away, and it was in fact one of his favorites for the new album. So he was very much around when creating it, just not for actually recording it. The band decided to finish this song and all the others on the Nightmare album for him more or less. Most of the songs were more or less "done" (not all parts) Nightmare being one of them, just not recorded when he passed. They were just about to start recording the album when he passed. The video however was obviously aimed for him :) So far away was actually also almost finished. As it was originally a song created in tribute to Syn's grandfather by Syn and actually Jimmy aswell (he helped out). But it was then finished and dedicated to Jimmy instead. So on the Nightmare album "So far away" is actually the only song added to the album just as a tribute. The rest were already planned. St. James on the "hail to the king" album is also a song created just as a tribute to Jimmy (hence the name) Edit: there are actually drumtracks to this song played by Jimmy himself from the creation phase so to speak.

The Rev wrote much of the drums on this album, so even if he didn’t perform it on the recording, Mike honoured him but changing nothing. Which is fitting, and would’ve been easy for Mike, as he had been one of the Rev’s biggest influences. IMHO, this is still The Rev drumming, and we still get some of his vocals on this one too. Here's my theory but it may be so intentional 😊 Matt is being wheeled around instead of running, Zachy is dancing with his beautiful dance partner, swapped for the skeleton, Johnny is handing doves in Afterlife, this time he has a "Bird's eye view", Syn is handling the skull "very Shakespearean" this time he is cracking his skull on the window.
@oliviaarlene-nh5wc4 жыл бұрын
the video makes references to afterlife. hence the tarantula. afterlife is about someone who was in the verge of getting sent to hell but wants to right his wrongs. nightmare on the other hand, is about someone who was sent to hell for all their wrongs

They're such a talented band. M. Shadows is one of the best vocalists in Metal imo. Synyster Gates is hella talented and crazy in a good way. The whole band rules! The melodies, the groove, the riffs, the lyrics in their music...

Fun fact, drum kit at the end is The Revs.
@tylerdigiovanni72196 жыл бұрын
Buckshot Jones another fun fact, that white kit has a tarantula crawling on it which is significant because that same white kit is used by The Rev in the Afterlife music video, in which a tarantula crawls across The Rev's face

One more fun fact the tattoo they got of the deathbat with hair is a tribute to Rev as well everyone of them has one

Duuude I share your phobia. If I have a daughter. 1. I won't be getting her a creepy ass gown to wear to bed. 2. I'm locking her up of a night time. 3. If I even hear "Daddy I can't sleep" I'm blowing her away with a shotgun. :P Nah I'm kidding. I'm still gonna be on my guard though.

i think alissa is better than angela
@moffe2k6 жыл бұрын
They both have their qualities. Angela has a pretty raw force and it sounds as she sings louder than Alissa. But Alissa is gifted with a beautiful clean vocal. In the War Eternal album I felt Alissa's voice drowned a bit amongst the other instruments, even though it was good, it got lost with all the different sounds.

Avenged sevenfold was my very first concert. I had listened to them for years but I finally got the opportunity to go and it shortly after the Rev passed. I have never seen a crowd mourn together until that night. It was their nightmare release and it was beautiful. Matt is a dedicated musician. His songs all have meaning. The whole show blew me away. Hands down the most heart warming, tear jerking, life changing show I have ever been too. I'm a fan for life!
