@@mbitetto67 What do you mean? SG1 did not create an alternate reality by going back in time, or at least it was never stated on-screen. They simply travelled back within their own universe's timeline. Honestly, "1969" is just an uncomfortable retcon - this is pretty common in 90s TV (Angel season 4 implies that characters and events from the beginning of the show were all manipulated, which simply breaks continuity and hurts the story they're trying to tell).

The best opening episode of anything, ever. In the UK, on MGM (via Amazon Prime), they're showing a re-cut version of this where the final battle plays quite differently, with new material creating an interesting re-cut (including multiple recognisable goa'uld aircraft and extended missile launcher scene). It also does not end with Kowalski walking up to the camera. The music has also been changed so it doesn't have the film score any more :'( Overall though the re-cut is massively better.

Question: If a 6"x1.5" snake suddenly leaped on your neck and dug into your skin, wouldn't you feel just a wee bit of agonizing pain?
@ReasonMakes3 жыл бұрын
People who have experienced large injuries (such as myself) will tell you that in the moment you actually don't feel any immediate pain. When my leg was sliced open to the bone by glass I was shocked by the sight, but felt no pain. It wasn't until I was halfway to the hospital that it hurt. People who have had their throats slit and survived recall the same thing. You feel pressure, are alert to being injured, take action to save yourself, and may experience shock - but do not experience immediate pain. If the blood loss is serious enough you feel will tired, like you want to lay down for awhile. Probably the most similar injury to something like this is being stabbed. I've read a few accounts of being stabbed and while the pain is excruciating, it comes a little while after the injury. Usually after you've already collapsed. I assume that in the Stargate universe the goa'uld would have been able to take some control over the body by then.
@Phoenix-2142 жыл бұрын
@@ReasonMakes I can second this. As a younger teenager, I slipped and fell onto a piece of broken ceramic plate and it gashed my knee open so deeply I could see my patella through the injury for the second or so before it flooded with dark red blood. Didn't really hurt, it just irritated me. Didn't stop me from swearing like a sailor, though. I had a project due in school that day. Was rather interesting watching them stitch it back up later. Made my old man sick to even be in the same room, but it just didn't bother me the same way. I saw it all. We all process things a bit differently.

Woof. You know, the Zat was a useful weapon for its utility purposes, but the staff weapon was just trash. It also doesn't really make any logical sense to use them. I know SG-1 tried to push this narrative that it was designed to intimidate their slaves or whatever and not really meant to be super effective in war, but that argument doesn't hold up when you consider how often system lords fought each other. They'd definitely be developing more effective weapons and not using a type that was so awful.
