The garden - I'm not very good at doing nothing and am thankful we got to rent this beautiful house. It's been a very rainy spring here so if I can help the owners a little bit by doing the garden. They probably don't even know I'm doing this, but that's ok. It keeps me busy. We eat here all day, that's what the holidays are for, but we also try to put some vegetables in between. xxx Eveline

Claire baked and Romy likes to eat it all 😂. Yes the river is a great extra (The pool is nice but contains salt and chlorine ) so that Loulou & Coco can cool down (and so do we). Fred is a real keeper. He loves taking care of his family, loves to cook... is also very stubborn and does his own thing, pretends to listen but doesn't hear, but we take that on board 🤣🤪❤️.

Aw this is what Fred is like. He should have taken care of himself at a very young age and that is why he is very independent. He likes to cook and that is something that is not my hobby because I don't have the patience for it (but I can). Fred does most of the cooking. Hahaha and the funny thing is that doing groceries is also his hobby. He loves it.

Just a quick helping thought, for you and the readers (especially helpful when it is so hot outside: Any area with weeds where you do not worry about other plantings like that stone patio, walkways, stone steps etc, simply pour vinegar on a sunny day, the weeds will die of by next day and not re-grow for some time. (changes the ph of the soil.) they will grow back because of the seed bank in the soil from years but the occasional dousing with vinegar keeps control. This is good for fencelines too!

Probably in the Mediterranean area it works perfectly. Unfortunately not in the rainy Netherlands. Weeds are so fast you can't blink your eyes they grow that fast. xx

Once I stayed in a family member's home for a week (house-sitting for them) and tidied up their neglected landscaping and got rid of many spider webs around the house exterior and on the property fence, etc. I was so proud to show them and as it turned out, they did not appreciate the effort at all, preferring instead the wild natural look. No good deed goes unpunished!

Dream renters - Eveline always leaving it greatly improved! My mother made the beds in hotels when we traveled, so the maids did not think we were messy heheheheheh! Mimi would NOT miss the cold water but she could investigate the lush jungle plantings night and day! Enjoy - the week goes by so fast.

When I saw all the dead leaves on the steps and the weeds, I wondered how long it would be before you started on the garden Eveline. It'll look a whole lot better when you've finished. The reason I would live in the Netherlands is all the dachshunds and the scenery and also my dachshund doesn’t listen to a word a say except when he wants a treat but I love him cause he cute and has a beautiful golden brown coat and he makes tons of catfish noises when we’re playing😂
