Everyone else in the world - baking is very precise you must measure everything. Mrs. Volfie - throws it together without measuring and it turns out beautiful! Thank you for the great content! I really enjoy your home economics videos.

Looks good. I have to admit i was like she isn’t even measuring how is this bread going to turn out?! I take a stick of butter and rub it on the tops of my loaves when they come out of the oven to keep them soft.
@MaureenKo15 жыл бұрын
Just BEAUTIFUL bread, Bev. I do quite a lot of artisan bread baking myself, inspired by you many years ago. I took it on thinking what a chore but you made it look so easy. And yes, it's very economical buying flour and yeast in bulk from Costco. Letting the family go at it, is worth the "work." If there are any left overs, I freeze them until I have a bunch and make homemade croutons for salads. I don't know which my family enjoys more, the fresh out of the oven or the crunchy buttery/garlicky croutons in their salads! I don't have to bake artisan bread Bev but I do so because of you. Not even kidding!

Love the cute voice of fast speed! I’ve also had a long road of trial and error with bread making. Right now my oven is broken again but I’ve learned you can make a soft load which is quite nice in the crock pot when necessary. Watching your videos like being with a familiar friend. I’ve watched so many now! The kids enjoy them to we call them homeschool home economics ;) it’s a lot of what I already do but lots to learn still with little tips you do a bit a bit differently. I haven’t tried canning meat as yet just fruits. I don’t know any one who cams meat so your videos make it seem “doable”. I do have the PC ... getting braver! X from Oz

I don't watch much youtube anymore but your channel I still watch. My mother always made bread but I didn't make it. Many years ago we also didn't have money to buy even bread. My sister and her 3 children were living with us. I called my mother and asked for bread recipe, which she gave. My father called and said he was sending my mother over to show me how. I really learned then. I got back to bread making about 10 years ago and love doing it.

Many many years ago when I was first married. My husband was in between jobs (which means no pay check). Because my momma taught all us girls how to cook, bake, cann and preserve EVERYTHING I had to rely on myself to make things as we didn't have money to go to the grocery store and was to proud to as for help of any kind. My husband and I actually ate as well or better from my homemade things. I had a sense of pride each and every time I put my food on the table. Thank you momma for teaching me to roll up my sleeves and get my hands in that dough.

It's a good thing I got a hubby who used to be a baker. LOL. Remember years back, when I made a vid of baking one loaf of sour cream bread on my own. Turned out perfect and hubby was so impressed. I never had to knead/bake my own bread because he would either bring it home from work or make big batch at home and turn the dough into various things. When he bakes at home I always help him anyway. But no way can I do a big batch myself, I just don't have the hands for it.

My best friend (who is only the best 'by the seat of the pants measurement') cook, measures like you do. Everything she makes is top shelf, simple food, but some seriously 'face-down-in-the-trough' good eats. As for me, the bread I make tends to be half white/half freshly ground whole wheat base, and then I add in hemp hearts (protein), chia (more protein), about 1/3 c. whole celery seeds (flavor!!), and about 2 TBS. whole or ground flax seed (careful with this unless you're constipated and planning on staying home). If you're in for a more herbed/savory bread, add rosemary and oregano. When cooler weather permits, I send a loaf of this with my niece who works in health care. She and her crew might be just a wee bit spoiled. YOUR bread looks delicious!!!!!! Did our invitation get lost in the mail? ;)

I think we may have been taught by the same ancestor in some prior life. This is exactly how I do things and I laugh at my room-mate who measures everything down to the last gram. It's amazing to me how many people ask me how I can do so well on so little, and it comes down to just what you showed in your money recap. You produced an amazingly superior product for a fraction of the price and the key ingredient? Love. BTW, I have been using powdered milk and potato flakes as dough conditioners for decades and it works beautifully. Something to consider next time, if you are using frozen flour - nuke it for a bit in the microwave before proceeding with the other ingredients. It makes kneading a bit more comfortable. You had an amazing successful product without doing that. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
