Home made tools, for when the need arises

In the middle of dealing with this job I had an idea of a tool that would perfectly work to overcome the issue I was fighting, ten minutes later I had a working prototype and it tested beautifully. You don’t always have the option to buy the correct tools, you need to have the ability to make them.

Live the info in your video. Galvanic corrosion is caused from combining dissimilar metals. I use a small wire wheel on my die grinder to remove the corrosion on the threads and then I apply black spray paint to the threads before reassembly.

A bit of an odd video in terms of what I normally watch but working in a car shop I appreciate the ingenuity and thought process you have on price and finding the cheapest option for both the tech and customer

@@carsonlabute8 we’ve all got “the drawer”. 😂 I usually try to find the correct tool if I do the job very much but I usually have to make a tool every couple months.

@@duanebrown8015 had a few jettas and beetles in, but no Passats. I don’t see many VW’s in the teens anyway.

You need to be creative and many people simply are not. I don't blame them, they can still do a great job but they lack creativity.
