The game is about fairies, and your boss is part of the Aen Sidhe, the people under the hills. In Irish folklore, fairies live in Otherworld, which is under the ground. You proved that you are knowledgble of the fae and earned the right to live among them

@@writershard5065A lot of the fae in myth are tricksters but extremely deadly. There's things like the hobbs that will clean for you, but if you disturb them whatsoever you'll never be found again. You see how most things in this database just mimic real things or live in something barely disturbing people but doing *just* enough that will drive someone crazy. The fae are basically completely bipolar where they can be cute and fun one moment and the next extremely deadly in a variety of ways. Leave it to the Irish to have myth like that.

That mouse / racoon second task was the largest example of the donning kruger effect ever.. "I hear squeeking sounds in my attic." Obivously mice. The very definition, meme, the whole character of mice in a house, is that you hear squeeks. Then follows an extremely convoluted overcomplicated roundabout way to say its raccoons, which has nothing to do with the squeeking. When people are trying to be extra intelligent by thinking outside the box, you're missing what is unbelievably easy and simple inside the box, and you'll still be wrong despite taking the more complex path..

Great to see you bunch play this game. [Edit] To those curious there is 2 endings. You either get through the whole week and win or you give wrong answers enough and you lose (Not gonna spoil that). Most if not all the phone calls can have bad endings if you give them wrong answers anything from "Oh no it's worse!" to "MY FACE MELTING!". The game gives you a catalogue so you can read over everything and an option to see your entire run's results as in names of the callers and whether you got it right or not. Afaik there's no 100% ending but you do get to see all the coupons. There's options to make things easier or skipping certain things too.

@@weakamnaThat's why the supervisor tells you not to tell anyone else about what you have access to in the database and why you start off with only normal things then move to more fae stuff. You're the only ones with the information on how to deal with it. Even the police apparently won't deal with it and send people to HSH instead. So it's apparently established. It reminds me of Control with the FBC (Federal Bureau of Control). No other place is equipped to deal with what they do. It'd be like if your house is on fire and you call a plumber and they say they can't do anything and you have to call firefighters.. that's not "corporate/capitalism" it's just they're not trained to deal with it.
@BalthorYT
@BalthorYT 9 ай бұрын
@@weakamna It's definitely both: they're obviously the only ones capable of handling those situations - given how the police, and by extension, the state, defers it to them - but they approach it from a corporate and likely also profit-driven perspective; either a product of the time they live in or a willing choice of profit over human life (and perhaps fey life as well). Definitely a good tactic in terms of hiding their true nature: they'd raise far more suspicion as a shadowy government organization, paramilitary force, etc., than as a pushy company with a weird advice hotline and mixed results solving problems.

I gotta give it to the devs for when they show you certain options during the game. You start off with normal stuff and then you start getting the weird things and you immediately think everything is going to be the weird fantasy stuff. It kinda goes back and forth and sometimes an entire day is all paranormal stuff. It really makes players expect trends but sometimes those trends are meant to mislead you. The funny thing is that quite a few ppl I've watched stream this game tend to forget that you just need to read what the ppl say and read your descriptions of stuff and you get your answer.
@Eventide215
@Eventide215 9 ай бұрын
The amount of overthinking in this video is wild.. it's equally hilarious and terrifying when they see something talking specifically about mice, sounding like mice, and yet they're like "IT'S A RACCOON BECAUSE THEY SAID ATTIC!" as if mice are banned from living in an attic.. then later when the woman says to not tell anyone they take that as "don't tell anyone anything not normal" when it was more like an NDA where you're not supposed to take all the information from that database you have access to and just tell everyone.. so then the boys are sitting there just going through the list of things looking for something else you use milk/cream for.. like what is wrong with this group? They'll be *spot on* for things then immediately not trust themselves because they start making each other second guess everything for no reason..
@Eventide215
@Eventide215 9 ай бұрын

I've worked monitored screen desk jobs and call center jobs. This game is a unique level of hell for me, lmao.

I wish you listened to the audio samples for each of them whenever they're available since there's actually some very terrifying ones (like the Boggart where you hear it opening a door making this distorted growling and presumably charging at whoever is recording it).

I love the SGS but you guys have clearly never dealt with mice and raccoon before and it shows. Mice are always in attics and crawlspaces! And what raccoon squeaks??? 😂😅

This was a particularly good game for SGS as we could "play along" at home. Love you guys!

Them not knowing the first guy had roaches blew my mind. Then made me realize all of the boys here had it good growing up. Which makes me happy.

Same. As someone who lived in a mouse infested house I knew right away the problem that lady was having. 😅

Cockroaches is less to do with having it good and more to do with location IME. I've had rich friends who were slobs have roaches and poor friends who were slobs not have roaches and everything in between. Pests and infestations like that are heavily reliant on location, not just resources, tho are impacted by lifestyle.

I grew up in Iowa where the only times I'd ever seen a roach were someone accidentally bringing them in from a suitcase. Lots of Asian beetles, Boxelder bugs, Stinkbugs, but no roaches

Talking about homes. Have you considered playing Homebody? It's by the team that produces the GameGrumps channel. And it is really fun, you would enjoy it so much.
