We don't often get to see an episode where Mike is excited about a project. I love it!

This room is considered a servants room. You will find something very similar in England's attics.

Good episode, enjoyed very much. Thank You! The window installer should have used an aluminum flashing above the new windows instead of putting an inch of caulking! The roofing guy should have cleaned out the purple spray foam at the ridge to allow smoother air flow. Finally, the pull down ladder's bottom feet were not cut level with the floor.

They could have easily knocked on their neighbor's door and asked. How do you get to your 3rd floor - attic. That easy.

Closed off in the 60’s. Previous owners didn’t even know. Most homeowners are pretty much clueless these days.

Not a fan of spray foam. Not because of fire per se, but because it hides potential water damage occurring under the roof. Also, makes access to wiring, pipes, etc more difficult. And wonder how long it truly lasts before it breaks down. Some insurers are reluctant to insure homes with spray foam insulation.

I am totaly against the way how north american houses are build, from materials to the methods...
@jays1064 сағат бұрын
@@asokawhite oh for sure i would not buy a new house these days they are so cheaply built and as a former firefighter it was drilled into us about this newer construction how that along with all the synthetic furnishings fires are burning hotter and faster and the smoke is way more toxic. you used to have minutes to get out with old construction no you are lucky if you have seconds. everything is built cheap and so lightweight if i was building a new home i would use alot of the old methods like lumber i would buy all rough cut and would have true ridge beam sawed as one piece with roof joists vs light weight roof trusses that are only held together with a thin sheet metal plate i want a house that will stand the test of time and be sound

@@jays106 Ok here its not the case, doors how need withstand 90 minutes of fire, walls with 180 rating or more. But well i live in Europe. So as explanation new houses are build out of Bricks and Concrete mostly with reinforced concrete floors. Inside walls made mostly out of bricks. A US or Canadian standard home would fail, fire safety, minimum code standards in seconds.

Nice job Mike, Damon and crew. I couldn't help but cringe at the sight of the flimsy pull-down stairs, though. They had the width to go with something wider and more study than that.

Gut It so you can see the ridge beam from anywhere in the basement

What about the water coming in the kitchen? Did they fix that or did the roofer that the couple had hired fix it?
@wadeslayback933831 минут бұрын
Right? This is the first time I feel like they completely ignored the real complaint. Like that 3rd floor was just a novelty n if it wasn't moldy they would rather get the roof and electrical stuff fixed everywhere else

Wow these homeowners scammed Mike and the show there are no issues with the home no leaks no mold this was a waste of peoples time and money and the worst part is Mike is gullible enough to get conned like this and do work that was totally unecessary
@jays1065 сағат бұрын
well being completely sealed off and having had roof issues there was no actual way of knowing but if the roofer found it why did they not have him investigate it at that time? also just looking at the outside you can't tell me the homeowner did not know prior to the roofer that there was a space up there it's a mirror image of the other homes around it i suspect they knew just wanted it done for free
@pearceav5 сағат бұрын
Why? Mike and crew did something new for them and made a show out of it which made them/him $$!
@delyn135 сағат бұрын
@ the show is supposed to be about homeowners who get supposedly scammed by contractors who dont do good work here they had none of that they lied to get on tv kinda like most of these canadians who are on the show but this one is outrageously despicable
@xheralt4 сағат бұрын
@delyn13 the show isn't _just_ about scammers or incompetent. Like the New Orleans build, sometimes it's just about a bit of charity to _someone worthy_ who just doesn't have the financial resources. Given the community center they operate, and the people they help, they EARNED the helping hand Mike gave them in return, you punctilious snob!
@jays1064 сағат бұрын
@@delyn13 oh i agree i mean it was in the paperwork when they bought the house 2.5 story that tells you right there plus you can see it from the outside and all the neighbors have very similar houses heaven forbid you ask them. as well as that blown in insulation was not from the 1960's i doubt that so someone knew. too much with this one just doesn't add up
