Just an update for everyone Cameron is doing amazing. He finally went to treatment and has 19 months clean. I met him while I was also in recovery and we are now engaged and have a beautiful daughter. It just shows that if you put your all into this fight you can come out on top. I am so proud of him, and anyone else that struggles with this disease, there is a way out, never lose hope. Kyla Gould

It takes balls to be this honest. I cannot believe some posters are hating on this guy. Anyone can end up homeless and addicted to drugs; it is NOT a planned life scenario...
@truthinvideos7 жыл бұрын
No. Not anyone can end up addicted to drugs. I never had any desire to do drugs. At an early age I was well aware of the consequences. Around 16 I guess. I'm 52 now. I'm not sure how I knew of the consequences at such an early age. Was it education at school? Was it a conversation I had with someone? I don't know. I just remember at an early age to stay away from drugs and alcohol, doctors, and hospitals. I hate to take otc pain relievers. I know it's not natural. Drinking a 6 pack of beer a day is also unnatural. I understand some people get addicted by prescription meds but some people start that kind of shit just so they can feel cool and accepted. I never cared about the peer pressure shit. I also knew my Dad would beat my ass if he ever caught me doing shit like that. And I would certainly be deserving of a good ass whooping if I did do drugs or alcohol. Being homeless can probably be considered a much needed ass whooping for a lot of these people. Homelessness. The ass whooping that keeps on whooping.

Truthinvideos this is for you, its the honest truth that anyone could end up in this situations. "want to not be in pain? here this will make it all better, got a broken foot? here this will help." thats exactly the type of attitude doctors have towards people which is exactly what causes these situations. They get physically addicted, then the doctor cuts them off so they end up finding heroin on the street or buying pills from someone which leads eventually to them buying heroin, which in turn leads to more of an addiction, and possile death because alot of ther heroin here in alberta is cut ith fentanyl as it is alot of other places. Painkillers may seem innocent enough but when you start going through withdrawals and end up on the street youll think alot differnelty. it may seem like a big step from prescription pain meds but it realy isnt. And withdrawals will make you do dumb things you get extremely desperate so if they can find heroin and tey cn aford it and it will make them feel better then thats exactly what theyre gunna do. You are clearly uninformed on the matter so please dont speak on it, regardless of your age your comment is very asinine and uninformed. I'm only twenty years old and even i know better, you should be ashamed, because it can happen to anyone and drug adicts are people too.
@richarddb18566 жыл бұрын
regardless of being raised in a good family, you can be prescribed a medication which ends up in heroin ddiction and doctors push it because they get paid commision by prescribing these knds of drugs to people, so really it odesnt matter if you detest drugs because when your in pain sometimes you feel as though you need something to help with it, which is where this comes in.

Hey all you haters...Cameron is still clean and has a life he could never imagine, with two beautiful kids so the next time you wanna wish ill upon someone who has suffered in their life from trauma, and dealt with a horrible drug addiction, think twice. Don't judge people until you have been in their shoes, and God forbid you ever have to. If you don't understand addiction then why do you find the need to comment on raw videos about it? Wishing my fiance dead? Thinking he left Janice in the dumpster to die? You are sick, heartless people. And for everyone that has shown support and love for this video, bless you. You are all the reason that me and Cameron are still clean to this day. It takes support, love and compassion from people to help see the good in yourself. Getting clean is alot of work but it is possible and it is worth it!

wow, that's totally cool....but weren't you guys engaged the last time you commented? a few years back? are you on an extended engagement? Just wondering. Also, I've been off the heroin for several years now, but for some reason my life isn't getting any better. I'm SO tired/fatigued/exhausted all of the time, no energy at all, and I cannot seem to find a medical reason for it. I feel so much regret, guilt, remorse, sorrow, feelings of worthlessness, despair, loneliness etc.etc. Is this common for a person in recovery 4 years now? I started taking drugs during the period when my mom kept attempting suicide every few months after the divorce.
@kylagould58786 жыл бұрын
Crimson King yes we are still engaged. Kids happened which has been a blessing and we've taken the time to focus on them and worry about a wedding later on. As for how you are feeling, I can totally relate. I still struggle with those feelings at times but the thing that works for me is reaching out and talking to my sponsor or going to a meeting. It is important that you do some work to get to the root of the problem. N.A steps help. The drugs are not the main problem, its the behaviours and why you did the things you did. I know being clean for almost 5 years, my head is still a mess sometimes. I think about some of the things i've done and i feel guilt and shame and remorse but when I dig deep and work through those feelings and find a solution for them, I can move forward and learn to heal. Good luck on your journey. You should be proud of all you have accomplished.

I know nothing about homelessness. One factor has become apparent from watching these videos. 1.) If you're a man, people care a lot less. It's horrific, especially when it deals with veterans. I'm 36, was both a combat medic and flight medic in the Army for 8 years. I was NEVER in battle. However, I've witnessed a plethora of soldiers who have sustained the rigors of war where cortisol is constantly eating your health away due to the dangers/stresses of combat. I've had to treat the damaged minds/bodies of soldiers. While the word PTSD is thrown a lot today, to really see it's full manifestations on the physical/psychological deterioration of soldiers is heart breaking. Men, of all people, have been conditioned by society to "take it". In doing so, they shut themselves in... they don't dare ask for help. They literally destroy themselves via drug addiction, isolation and in many cases killing themselves, violently, with a gun straight to the head. Conditioned apathy for their own lives. 2.) The institutional programs aren't set up to truly get people off the streets. They're there to keep people with jobs. I'm humbled to watch these videos. Every time, it makes realize how much I have to be grateful for.

Interesting comment. "They're there to keep people with jobs"... Sometimes it feels like as someone who has worked very very hard in life... What do I have to show for it? A crap load of debt and a life of working my arse off and paying taxes into the system... If I slipped and stumbled... like with a drug addiction... and lost my job... I'd be homeless and broke in no time flat and probably nobody would give a shit if I didn't have family to catch me. So yeah... I do kinda think that the institutions are there just to keep us in the rat race... running on that wheel... feeding more taxes into the system... never really getting ahead...I also am competely against the war on drugs... that's my tax dollars at work... ruining people's lives with a health problem...
@MrGothic786 жыл бұрын

+Edwin. Interesting comment. But we often forget that those people who make up "the system" are themselves only human with the same human limitations and frailties as those they treat. And no I'm not one of them here defending myself. I come from a family where there was some severe mental illness (my sister) and while trying to help her I experienced first hand the deep flaws in a system that was supposed to make people better when in fact it appears to make many worse. It was frustrating and despairing. But when we stop to think about it we really do expect health workers to possess more empathy and less mental frailty than we possess ourselves. It's not an excuse, just a fact of life. When all is said and done only empathy and love help people in need, and we can't expect people to produce these in exchange for a wage packet.

yes, but add to that , that you wont sleep for up to five days at a time during withdrawal and even when you do you get so restless s soon as you fal asleep you legs jerk and get uncmfortable which forces you to stand up and pace around to rid yourself of this restless feeling, but yet at the same time your so tired all you want to do is sit down or rest but no matter what you do you cannot sleep, or sit still without feelings a creeping sensation and pain in your legs, There is no break or rest or calmness or peace. even for a minute until you get so tired your brain just shuts off.. But then you get awoken by the restless legs again. And this will go on for about two weeks with heroin Withdrawal, in which time becomes meaningless because of how you long you dont sleep it all feels like one long herrible endless day. At least with a flu you can sleep. But this is much worse than you coud even imagine if you havent been through it, please try to abstain from alcohol as that can have some withdrawals too ut mostly only in extremly heavy abusers. I joined a new doctors when I moved.. but because everything is online now I had no introduction to my new doctor and he has never seen me not once.. and yet he has prescribed me medication since 2019.. which naturally I became physically and mentally addicted to them to the point I need to buy it from people in bulk as addiction has taken over my life... I hope this guy finds happiness and gets clean 🙏

Everything that Cameron said is true about addiction and if you do not have services it is so difficult to get clean without services. I am so happy to hear that Cameron did finally get the help that he needed and is doing amazing. Many people do not understand how addiction works and have no business commenting in a negative manner.

I’m glad he’s doing well. However, I’d disagree with the last sentence. Addiction within itself isn’t necessarily the biggest issue, aside the fact that you can overdose, what gets me is when you neglect everything like your responsibility, such as bills and children all to get that high. That’s problematic and I know a lot of people that have had parents that chose drugs over their own kids and it does stay with them and it’s sad. And because addiction can lead to people neglecting their responsibilities, their decisions affect other people because now other people, whether that be grandma grandpa aunts and uncles have to take over to raise their kids and if you’re addicted and neglect to pay bills, you’re most likely gonna be on the street And in reality, you shouldn’t expect someone including family to take you in because you made bad decisions which led to bad consequences. I’m just saying 🤷♀️

I would not compare nicotine addiction to any kind of opiate addiction. Even the weakest opioids of all time like tramadol and Kratom can get to a point where that's all you think about, and it slowly changes who you are overtime. Doctors get payed commision by big pharma companies for prescibing certain medications like painkillers, sleeping pills, and anxiety meds. So yes, they do try push medication on people.. its the honest truth that anyone could end up in this situations. "want to not be in pain?" thats exactly the type of attitude doctors have towards people which is exactly what causes these situations.

People that have never been through addiction have no clue what it's like and this guy nailed it on the head at the end most addicts aren't bad people at heart and want nothing more but to be able to contribute and give back to people but the drugs make you do awful things you otherwise would never even have thought of doing. Once you break that barrier, since you don't know you'll be an addict until after the fact, it messes up your mind to the point that even after you manage to get clean life still isn't what it was before you ever started and you wish so bad you could go back and be able to have the energy and excitement you once had for life, it really takes all of that away and becomes mundane and boring.
