I'm going to use your method, however, I think after all of the folding instead if a biscuit cutter, I'm going to cut it into squares and just round the edges like when forming dough to be raised. It will allow me to keep those wonderful layers. As always you're my kitchen goddess, thank you for making our kitchen lives so much fuller.

These biscuits are insanely good! I didn't quite achieve the flaky layers but I also don't have a proper biscuit cutter, I used the top of a wine glass! I will definitely make these again! Thanks Laura!

Laura, I made a recipe today that was a total flop, so I looked you up, cause all your recipes are amazing. I was like, "Hey, maybe Laura has a recipe!" Made these, and they turned out Brilliant!!! Thank you so much! You are amazing!

Laura...your recipe (plus an idea from Southern Living magazine) for biscuits actually came out great! Do you know how many times I've tried to make them and they come out like mini hockey pucks? It was a running joke in my family. My son thought I bought them, he didn't believe I made them myself. What I did from the Southern Living recipe was put the butter in the freezer and while it was frozen, I grated it with a cheese grater and added it to the flour mixture for even distribution, and just mixed it with my fingers. Thank you for this fantastic recipe! You are the best!!
@mrstdfrancis8 жыл бұрын
haha! I use the same butter in the freezer and cheese grater technique every time I make biscuits! it's great!

This recipe rocks made this many times I live in South FLA and I usually end up adding an extra 1/4 cup of buttermilk to the dry ingredients I know this will vary depending on where you live. Make scrambled eggs and sausage to server with these great biscuits.

Such a genius idea for the croissant folding technique in the biscuits!
@TaylerMade9 жыл бұрын
i will try this, though i am concerned about the amount of kneading and rolling which i was always told is guaranteed to make them hard as nails. i cut the butter in and then mix in the milk with a knife just barely... press the dough out to the thickness i want then fold in half (this makes the biscuits break into two halves when you eat them) gently press this back to the thickness i want and simply cut it into pieces with a knife so i don't have to rehandle the leftover dough from a cookie cutter. mine are always very light and fluffy.

@wmoore20118 жыл бұрын
Depending on if it's summer spring winter or fall or if you live in a higher elevation or is it dry or humid the day you're making biscuits so just adjust your buttermilk accordingly and as I said I live in South FLA I usually add an additional 1/4 cup of buttermilk to moisten the dry ingredients.

The only thing I would've done differently is after rolling out place the whole dough on the baking sheet and cut the biscuits into squares without separating and finish your process. When baked, just pull apart. One, it's quicker and uses every bit of dough and secondly, I love the soft doughy sides instead of so much crunchy crust!!

I little secrete so you can cut those biscuits without wasting any of the dough (the first time around). No one ever said the biscuits hast to be rounded. :-) Get a square cutter and measure your dough so the cutters will not waist a single bit of your perfect layered dough. I wish you the best on your new endeavour Laura.
