I used to work with a Filipino guy who would bring these to work every once in awhile. So when I found this recipe, I was excited to try it. They were awesome! Super easy, but it is a process. I would have the oil a little hotter than what she specified. I went with 350 and they came out perfect. A tip I learned a long time ago with making eggroll-like dishes is to let the filling cool to room temperature before you roll them. That way, they don't get soggy inside. Thanks Mel for posting.

Lumpia is originated in china, yes it is, but the first southeast asian country who adapt this is The Philippines because of the first austronesian settlement in the country, It is also started in binondo philippines, the OLDEST chinatown in the WORLD. And for indonesians who keeps claiming this, yes this is yours too, however the old spelling of indonesian lumpia is "loempia" meanwhile the ancient spelling of the lumpia in the philippines is "lumpia" nothing change, and besides filipinos are the first ones who popularized it, so you guys (indonesians) just sit down. Just because you guys are underrated in SEA countries that doesn't mean that you can claim everything😑. Like hello, from the philippines to thailand to vietnam to malaysia to indonesia, we share the same influences. Why don't you just give some love😚 and support ☺and no need to be toxic.😧 Edit: bashed me if you want. well ok then, all i know is that lumpia is the best.😍

Confused overproud Indonesian thinking lumpia Semarang was supposed to be their "original" cuisine.
@mrnonews6 жыл бұрын
So sad that we were raised to be overproud. I used to think we invented a lot. Turns out it's just a sad overproud country with few original ideas.

Our generation is a disappointment. You are obviously delusional. This is a country that will never see the light of day 😂

Yayayayay!! Buzzfeed Tasty is appreciating us with more than the crappy adobo they did a while ago! My mom and I usually wrap the meat raw, but everyone makes it different i guess!

Recipe is simple and amazing.... yummm.. small minor tip, IF TIME PERSISTS, is to pop them in the freezer for a while, cos when the cool lumpia wrapper hits the HOT oil, mmmmm..... it’s soooooo crispy...

We have something similar to these but the fillings are different - it's filled with a thick curry often made from potato and meat ( chicken and ground beef is very common ). I recommend trying it out, it's tasty !
@siennameenah49474 жыл бұрын
We put the filling raw then cook it altogether with the wrapper. Taste way better and def more juicier! Filipina here from QC! 💕

@faustinuskaryadi66103 жыл бұрын
@@joshuamerifidal7038 Lumpia is from Fujian Province, China. Hokkien Chinese immigrants borrowed it to South East Asia during European colonial Era. The word lumpia itself is simply Hokkien Chinese pronunciation for 润并

These are very similar to my mom's! She makes hers with ground beef because my brother and I were picky about pork when we were little. Everyone says their moms make the best... but mine really does, lol
@farasabyan456 жыл бұрын
Indonesian-style lumpia is way bulkier, yea we like it big here. The standard lumpia here are filled with young bamboo shoots called "Rebung", if you ever visited the asian market, it's that rinsed yellowish thing you find in the cooler. Really sweet and savoury at the same time!
