Which is why I a SOOOO glad that Mi has added support for HomeKit on their products like Yeelights:) You can buy 2 or 3 of them for the same price of a single philips hue or LifX lightbulb!!! And I think the reason HomeKit supports less products is because Apple is stricter on quality control. They hate to be affiliated with anything that isn’t good quality, and thus you don’t get crappy products with HomeKit support but you do get horrendously crappy products that support Alexa... So good and bad thing at the same time. Less of a range but superior quality which is better for long term.
@Dragon12763 жыл бұрын
Sony and Bose make much better speakers if that’s what you think is the most important, and they support open standards like Bluetooth. Apple re-encodes all wireless audio as AAC on all their devices, whereas most other wireless speaker manufacturers will use Apt-X or Apt-X HD which acts as a wrapper for the audio, and doesn’t re-encode it producing quality loss.

@@sigissigis3174 LOL, I don't know what you mean by a grocery list, but my instacart normally has 50+ items from 2 to 3 stores and can take an hour + to put together. Telling Alexa "buy bread and milk" is neat but not a usable feature for actually ordering groceries. I find these kind of features, while they may work, require you to compromise in ways I have not found to be useful. I do find things like "turn on the lights" or "run my whatever shortcut", to be useful, but from what I understand most personal assistants can do that. Apple Home Pod (Both) tells you where the closest grocery store is when you ask them. All the Rest only tell you the stores that advertise with them, some are 6 miles away, they don't care about you just the advertisers. I asked Siri where the closest grocery store is and she said Trader Joe's was .5 miles from me. But yeah.... barely anything at all.... /s I had Alexa and Homekit running simultaneously for a while. Alexa was always thinking we were talking to her. Had to be at least 3-5 times a day. Watching television was the worst culprit, but still picked up our conversations incorrectly too. Siri maybe gets an incorrect request once or twice a week. Apple commands are there and a bit more customizable than Alexa, in my opinion. Apple has them in Shortcuts, not within the Apple Home app. My homepods can turn on my Apple TV, open Netflix, start HBOmax while dimming the lights. The downside is the homepods need to be on the same wifi as a device running Shortcuts. I have an iPad that controls my whole home and doesn't leave the house. So as long as my iPad doesn't die, the homepod can run Shortcuts easily. If your device disconnects from the network or dies, homepod will tell you the device required to run the command is not available and to check the device to make sure its connected to the same network as the homepod.

I’d love the ability to add 3 of these for center and surround speakers for 5.1 plus external sub.

Arguably if you think you are heavily invested in the apple system you should think about withdrawing a little and shouldn’t buy yet another apple product

They are great sounding...the only thing really crap about it is your can't use blue tooth connect with other products outside of Apple products....becomes a paperweight

I transfer from iPhone to HomePod by holding phone over the HomePod maybe an inch above. It then works every time

@Dan, does it work with the Apple 18w adapter or PD power bank?

I prefer to carry a battery powered speaker (Bose Soundlink Color II) around the house at times, when I want better sound than my phone or iPad can provide. Too bad it doesn’t have a built in battery for at least a few hours of play (& detachable cord).

I ordered one on a whim, but my deliver date is eight days after launch! Eight days? Whaaat? I thought it bad when my Xbox came a day late.

Great video. If you have any feedback on how to get the HomePod to play “my” playlists and not Apple Music, please let me know. Thanks

This may have been mentioned earlier but there is a Nest to HomePod bridge that apparently works very well. The Starling Home Hub is $89. No, I have no connection with them but that would solve your issue. 9 to 5 Mac recommends it.

Here is the response that I usually get from my HomePod SIRI: Hold on; I’m having trouble connecting to the internet.🌎

Ordered the white one too (will be here in Dec :( and from your video, it looks good! Please tell me Siri gives an auto cue when after "Hey Siri"? On my iPhone mini, Siri simply lights up so if I'm not near my phone I can't tell if it heard Hey Siri or not. Bring back the damn "ding!"
