Thank you Micah, and everyone who shared the video with the rest of us. I never heard of anybody else getting hiccups until you mentioned it in the video. I can handle the heat even though I may not enjoy it but the hiccups is what gets me. I use to judge heat by the flavor. Some peppers/sauces taste good enough to justify the heat and others don't. One day I ate some hot sauce that was so hot that I had uncontrollable hiccups. I tried to eat the bowl of chili that I had put it on but the hiccups became too much. I literally felt that sauce moving through my digestive tract until it moved on out. About kicking bull calves at castration, about 45 years ago when I was helping out with miking cows we would have a kicker. The way we handled it was to use a length of rope about 7/16" diameter with a loop end that created a slip. We tossed the end over her back and caught the end to pull under her just in front of the udder. Pass the straight end of the rope through the loop and pull snug tucking the loose end between the tight part of the binder and the side of her belly. This was like the strap a nurse puts on your arm to take blood. The pressure on the tendon at her waist would keep her from being able to raise a hoof mor than 4 or 5 inches and kept us from getting kicked and kept her from kicking off the milker. I wonder if this would help with bull calf castrating. Have you heard of this? I wish you all a blessed Christmas holiday.

@@McGieHomesteadAdventures Me too! I thought the working alley was set up very well for small animals but the anti-kick board was a bit sketchy. Matthew was protected by God when crazy crazy kicked him in the jaw and I didn't want to see you get a good one to the kisser from one of those little guys. Be carful and constantly thank God for His blessings and protection.

Great job! So much better than banding. They seem to heal so much faster and no chance of band failure. I've always cut the bottom and yanked...while the menfolk turned their backs and winced. Ha!

I was holding my breath when you were cutting the calves with that board across their back side. Guys have gotten their wrists broken that way. I worked for a vet one time, and we always tailed them. It would kick the rear end out of gear, it pinched their spinal cord. I never seen a calf kick done that way and we cut many many calves. He also cut the bottom of the bag off. Got both nuts at the same time and they drained good. He was fast, had to be when cutting 50 or 60 a day. Merry Christmas to you all.

Great catch pen... That Blue Meds will get on everything...We had about 300 head of cattle...It was old school. Roping and taking their huevos...😊... We always used Cow Nose Pliers...It sure help manage them... Merry Christmas...Ps..Your making me hungry, do that taste test..
