These generators are far to small to be able to run your entire house off of, you would need one of those big 5000 to 10000 watt generators. You would also need to have a certified electrician install a generator plug into the electrical panel of your home.

The preditor does have fuel cut off ability. just turn the start switch to right before it cuts off and it will cut off the fuel and then run until it dies. Not advertised, figured this out on my own....

If you are turning it to the start position, all you're doing is choking the engine until it dies. This does not cut the fuel off.

just a note to add to the video, the whole engine in the EU2200 is new over the EU2000, it has a GXR120, the EU2000 is a GX100, its the 2200 is 1-3db quieter than the 2000. It also has a much improved oil draining design. I purchased the EU2000 the week it released earlier this year, been hitting it hard since, it replaced a Ryobi RYI2200 for me.

Biggest problem I see with the Harbor Freight units is the lack of specific replacement parts. Little things, like a missing gas cap, might impair the Predator, but something like an inverter module gone bad makes it a boat anchor.

I contacted Harbor Frieght Customer Service to order a new base plate (cheap plastic) and was told it would take 3 months. I fabricated a much stronger bottom plate from a cutting board. I've had many problems with the Predator 2000 using it 5 to 8 hours on a weekly basis. I think people that say they dont have problems aren't using them much.

Micro air - easy start has tested the amps on a lot of generators. They have 7 plus pages of excellent reviews overall. On an RV you put the easy start on a for instance a 13,500 BTU rooftop air conditioner. and the Honda 2000 will run it by itself hard to believe but it's true. What the easy start is is a microprocessor it gets the motor spinning first and then kicks in the compressor. And it doesn't make that killer thump like an RVs when the compressor kicks in. The killer thump I'm talking about is like a bowling ball or softball hitting the top of the roof of the RV when the compressor kicks in the air conditioner in the summertime and wakes you up if you're sleeping. Mostly Honda generators that put out the most amps and that's what is needed to start bigger stuff. Yamaha is good Honda is better and most of the other generators with a 79cc engine doesn't cut it to start up RV 12,000 + BTU air conditioners and stuff. I have a 2200 watt Sportsman dual fuel propane and gasoline little generator with a 79cc engine and there's some things it won't start. And trust me I would not want to put my little 2200 watt 79cc generator up beside the 2200 watt Honda. The Honda would destroy my Sportsman generator. Sportsman which is not too knowledgeable claims my generator has 15 amps but I have not measured it to see if that is the truth. Because I asked Sportsman a lot of other questions and they didn't sing to know much. China of course builds them. Sportsman they just sell them and work on them. I wasn't for the Honda at all but it has a lot bigger engine and more amps the Honda 2000 has been tested and measured at 16.6 through 17 amps. the Predator says on it 13 amps Max. And that is the difference between starting and staying running not kicking the overload. And I'm not sure about the 2200 watt Honda but it has more amps then the 2000 Honda. I just don't remember what it is. I've seen the Honda 2200 for about $850 total on the doorstep new. They do very in price online. There are also some cheap generators online suitcase portable generators I'm not exactly sure about the weight of the unit but they have bigger engines which usually mean more amps just like the Honda. I just wish more companies made the bigger Engine with more amps in the small standard size one hand suit case portable generator at a good price. Now keep in mind the 2000 Honda has a 98cc engine on it. And the 2200 watt Honda has a 128 cc motor I thought it maybe a 118 cc engine. Either way or I should say either Honda engine it's a lot bigger engine, more amps , more money and more money for parts if you ever need them down the road.. In any engine a bigger engine will burn more fuel but will usually run the stuff you need in a pinch.

One thing Honda has is a 12 volt charging system they have another EU2200 that is identical except it has a 30amp plug for RV’s but no 12 volt charger. The only reason I mention this is that if I’m stranded with a dead battery I could charge it enough to start my vehicle. I don’t know much about other inverter generators wether there’s any capability like this or not.

After Visiting Harbor Freight and looking at the Predator, It was a no Brainier that the Honda was built with Quality Parts and Serious Quality Control. The fact the the Honda had a 121 CC Engine and the Predator has a 79cc engine, It's Obvious the Honda Is going to be a better made and longer lasting as well as more powerful Generator. For the Money, the predator will do and will get you out of a Jam in a jiffy. As far as long term, only time will tell. If you can afford it, Get the Honda, if not their is nothing wrong with getting the predator if outdoor recreation is what you do. For long term and Commercial use, Honda it is. Wrong-- The larger displacement means nothing. Look at the 79cc yamaha 2200 generator (which this harbor freight has a cloned engine of), and the yamaha design is just as powerful, with less displacement and less mechanically complex... I hope you enjoy changing your timing belt in the Honda generator since its due every 250 hours in the newer Honda engines.

Bought the Honda 2200i and the companion 30a. Yes, lots of money but I parallel both in eco mode and run my whole trailer with a 13500 btu ac, microwave, tv, fridge and separate freezer. Plus everything plugged in the sockets and it does not rev up at all. You can hear a little uptick in throttle with the ac and microwave on at the same time, but it does not go over 71 dbs. The two surge to 4400 watts and 36.5 amps for 30 minutes and 3800 watts and 30 amps all day long rated. Was cheaper than buying one Honda 3000i and lighter. The Predator is actually not bad, but the motors are made cheap. You can take extra care with them by running synthetic oil and changing the oil more frequently. But they lack the amps. Can’t fix that.

Personally I’d check out the Atima 2000. Little more expensive than the predator, but with a 2 year warranty vs 90 days. The Honda of course is an amazing 3 years. No extended warranty purchase required which you’ll have to buy to get more than 90 days from harbor freight. Plus you’re getting a genuine Yamaha engine and not some rip off clone. Honda’s are the best, but not everyone wants to drop a grand on a gennie. Atima’s are Japanese quality with Yamaha engines for not much money compared to a Honda. The Atima was $669 to your door last time I checked.

I have two questions does the predator inverter generator have a true sinewave output or a modified sinewave output? Second question regarding the ESC throttle control does this engine throttle control run at either full throttle under load and idle at partial load or can the engine run at variable speed based on load? The Honda can run at variable speed based on load. And the Honda has a True sine wave output not a modified sinewave. If the predator inverter uses these cheaper components it would explain why it is so much less expensive. If the Predator does not have these features then all it really offers is being "quiet". You have to be careful when hooking up fragile electronics to a modified sine wave inverter, it can damage them. Also if the Predator does not have true variable engine speed control then it makes having any inverter hooked to it serve no advantage. The whole purpose of having an inverter is to the engine to conserve fuel and run at a lower power output yet keep the output at 120V and 60 hertz regardless of engine speed.

The Honda 2200 watt generator has 118 cc engine the Honda 2000 Watt generator has a 98cc engine and the Honda predator has a 80cc engine. And these three generators I mentioned are all suitcase portable 42-48 LB One Hand portable generators. Honda may have a bigger Engine with more amps but it's going to burn more fuel in the long run. But Honda has more starting and running amps for a short time period of time. That's from Honda technical.

Predator rocks. For the price of one 2000 EU, you can get two predator 2000 gennys including the parallel cable and dominate Honda. When prepping, remember that one is none and two is one. I'll stick with Predator. Add the 3 fuel conversion kits to the predators for gas, propane, and NG and you have one sick setup.

Not true it depends on the unit you have. I had a 13500 btu ac and my Honda eu2000 couldn't handle it. I then got a different rv with a 15000 btu ac and my honda eu2200 the newer generator model was able to start and run the ac without a problem. I later invested in an easy start system just to make sure I'm not killing the generator or the ac over time

Plenty of watts for those acs bjt no where near the amps. Amps are key. Watts mean almost nothing. Read the ac output amps and read the generators amp output. 10000 btu ac is way too much for both generators

My Predator is going on the 4th year of running it 5 to 8 hours once a week. It has stopped running well and dies when I put a load on it. The fuel gauge has quit working, the ridiculous fuel screen fell into the tank and is impossible to get out and the bottom plastic broke causing me to make a new bottom plate from a cutting board. Always baby it and set it down carefully. I do feel I got my $500 worth out of it in 3 years but I am buying a new Honda 2200is with the 30amp plug and think I will be happier and get more than 6 years use out of it making it a better investment.

If you want more dependable then Honda run any 4-stroke generator on propane. You will never go back to gasoline again. it'll put all others four stroke engines on gasoline to shame. My suitcase portable 2200 watt Sportsman generator is 15 amps max they said. Sadly Sportsman is not to knowledgeable on technical of their products. and my generator is a sportsman gasoline or propane dual fuel suitcase portable generator like these two in the video. The only problem I had with my new Sportsman generator is I had to make a T splice in the main hose and make a primer hose filling up the gas tank with propane for initial startup which works great. And leaving the gasoline bomb on and choke on some to pull the propane in through the engine works better. Normally with a propane generator you would never run the choke but this is different just for initial startup I use the choke to pull the propane in the motor for initial startup. The smaller generators on propane do not have a manual primer valve like on the bigger propane generators. I've only run my generator on propane. Propane is the most dependable, reliable fuel there is and never goes bad. The best prepper fuel out there and they can't cut it off like natural gas, water, electricity in a state of emergency, martial law or diasters. All carburetors will eventually give you problems not start, go bad and more problems. I can work on most things but who wants to work on anything? I like things to last forever and ideally I don't want to work on something when I'm ready to use it. Other than routine maintenance. Propane does not give all those carburetor problems, no plug fouling, no carbon buildup in the motor ever. Propane is super clean and the spark plug looks new and the oil looks new always on propane. Propane never goes bad gasoline does and you have to treat the gasoline after so much time. Gasoline is 87 through 93 octane out of the pump. propane is 100 to 110 Octane that's the difference. And the real difference between the Honda 2200 and Predator Harbor Freight generator is in the amps. And the amps is the difference between starting and not starting something. Honda 2200 watt portable suitcase generator is about 18.3 amps. On the technical side Honda told me if you need the additional total 18.3 amps about it will only run for so long and it will kick out so you can't run something that is exactly 18.3 total amps or it will go into over load and stop running power. and the Predator it says on the front face its 13.3 max amps. Of course two generators are better than one for the price of the Honda. In my opinion the AI power for around $300 is a better deal than the Harbor Freight suitcase portable 2000 watt generator if you want a gasoline-generator. And for most all four stroke engines when your carburetor dies you can change over to propane through US carbs or Tri-City fuels and several others that sell add-on propane kit.

Its true the Honda eu2201i is more expensive - where I am they run about $1250 Canadian on sale at Ready Honda in Toronto. I do love all the aftermarket stuff available for the honda. But I also agree that its very expensive and you can buy a couple of predators or comparable units (champions for example) with lots of goodies and there is something to be said for redundancy.

if you buy the $100 2 year warranty they will replace it with no questions asked you could throw it out a window at 100mph they will give you a New one then when you get the new since it's new you can buy another warranty for the new 1 again for that one its $100 for 2 years and $49 for 1 year but you could just keep repeating replacing it and buying new one for $100 dollars so no you cant do that with the Honda so predator beats it all day quieter cheaper and better warranty because if you take care of it change oil even sooner then what it says and put ngk plug in it you can make it last then they will let you just buy another warranty you can make it work pay the $50 dollars every year that it keeps lasting then if it broke you get new one

It worked fine for another year, so instead of taking back and get nailed with another charge I bought a ryobi 2300 from home depot , so far I get 850 hours on it, It s been maintained religiously , ngk spark, synthetic oil...but if quits, I will go for the predator 3500 buying the warranty like you said. A real warranty not a BS wareanty loaded with exceptions, exclusions .

I have had my Honda Eu2000i for 10 years last month. it gets run an avg of 80 - 100 hrs a year. Running non-ethanol fuel in it from the beginning. the only thing I've ever done is replace the feet and change the oil and ONCE I changed the spark plug. Let me know after 800 plus hours and 10 years on a boat in a salt water environment how the predator is doing ;)

Predator generators are a waste of time. Not because they're junk, but because you can get the WEN for less with a hell of a lot better warranty. Or the Pulsar, westinghouse....or whatever other brand puts their name on the case

@@send2artem Wen 2200 has been on sale numerous times the past few months for well under 400. Newest model was 419 2 weeks ago. Power mate pm2200i (generac gp2200i but red plastic) was 319, still 339 directly from generac. That kicks Harbor Freight's ass with steel toed boots.

@@send2artem I don't think that holds true anymore. Wen no longer sells a 2000 watt generator. From what I've seen, almost all other brands have moved on to 2200 watt units. Harbor freight is dragging its ass in every regard by a trio of: charging more than almost every one of its competitors, continuing to sell older outdated tech when everyone else has updated to 2200+ watt units, and offering the absolutely worst warranty of any generator company. Aside from the "convenience" of being able to purchase it locally (and even that is mitigated by Home Depot and Lowes now carrying more aggressively priced comparable units), there is zero reason to buy a generator from Harbor Freight

Most? a huge percentage of the chinese made inverter generators have YAMAHA clone engines made by DUCAR, which is a huge manufacturer. Including this harbor freight gen. 79.7cc = Yamaha clone.

The clones usually aren't as good as the Honda in ways such as cast cranks vs forged cranks etc. However keep the oil changed and don't abuse them they hold up well usually.

I just did a comparison of these two because the Honda eu2200 is the newest and best from honda and the predator line is still the same. So when the predator comes out with a 2200 version I will do another review on these two.

Nope. Conflict of interest. This one is the same as the Wen generator. Pick your saying. You don't get something for nothing. Or... you get what you pay for. You pay a little for the name brand and a lot for the quality and attention to detail. I am always trying to find a good value but often you find when the majority of people put their faith in a brand there is a reason behind it.
