I give you credit for trying and you can still fix/modify it. Even though some mistakes were made, the info is out there now and we can learn from it. I couldn't find the info on how to mount the JDM cage/basket but now I see where the mounting points are. Also, most of the installs out there had to cut the vents to make a double din work, nice to know this shallow mounts fits in the cage/basket and you don't have to modify the air vents.

Thanks a lot. I know it wasn't perfect and got a lot of flame for it but I had to try it plus I can always buy another dash. Like you said there wasn't a lot of info on how the cage fits and honestly taking the dash out is the best way due to where the mounting screws are located. I didn't realize all my mistakes I would make until I started getting further into the cutting. Next time will be different. I plan on buying another dash and make it better on round 2 so I can at least screw in the cage correctly.

I am in the process of doing mine right now. I noticed your S2000 has the little mounting ears on the dash that will mate up to the JDM bracket; mine does not, it is an early AP1 and I am guessing they didn't do the mounts then because the NAV wasn't yet out. I will have to overcome that hurdle somehow. I give you credit for trying and perseverance. This isn't an easy task to take on, at all. There also isn't any going back or redos really so for the people hating, until you have tried, you don't know what it is like.

First of all, you need to remove the dash board from the car. Once the dash is removed, you will see the factory mounting points for the JDM stereo backing bracket from the back of the dash board (Yes, Honda did make the mounting points for LHD S2000, the JDM stereo bracket can perfectly mount on the LHD S2000 dash board as well). Then, cut the opening like what you have done. For the bezel, the old way is to re-form to make it fit for the JDM backing bracket / dash board with heat gun. Right now, you can 3D scan the bezel and 3D print it in opposite side. Anyhow, good try.
@kalmtraveler3 жыл бұрын
do you know anyone who can 3D print the flipped version? I have the cage and bezel, going to pull my dash out to install the cage correctly but I haven't found anyone who can make an LHD version of the bezel so I was going to try the heat-gun-reshape route.

Were you able to mount the radio into the JDM s2000 mount by screwing it together? Or how did you mount the radio?
@BrandoMotion4 жыл бұрын
The way the bracket is mounted in the dash I didn't really need to fasten the unit down so much, so it held in by very tight felt tabs. Unless the car flips over its not coming out. I have a new bracket but havent had the time to put it in. I am working on replacing this unit with another and making a new support bracket.
@ryancue92404 жыл бұрын
How do you know where to cut precisely like where the mounting points for the bracket are? Also why did you have to create that mold? Others I’ve seen in pictures don’t seem to need that? Is it because you cut wrong ?
@BrandoMotion4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the dash doesn't have any indication on where to cut and I only found out the provisions to screw it in where there after I cut into the dash. I'd recommend cutting a small rectangle first, finding the mount locations, then make the hole bigger as needed. Only other issue is getting screws to fasten from behind the dash skin, going to be a PITA. I created the mold because the JDM bezel doesn't sit flush on the US dash and this was my attempt to make a sleek/flush exterior fascia, that I later screwed up, smh.
@ryancue92404 жыл бұрын
Mr Brando thanks for your reply!! So how were you able to fit the bracket behind the dash? Wouldn’t the cut in the dash need to be smaller then the bracket for it to fit ? I have picture of the back of the dash to help me some what find out where is at? Just need to know which ones are the studs because some seem to be for the air vent. As for the beZel to sit flush I’ve read about heating it up with a heat gun and reshaping it. That’s what I’ll attempt and then clamp to the bracket (once I figure out how to get there and torque it. I figured maybe I can fit it putting it in sideways or trying to squeeze through the airbag slot or the instrument cluster once removed?
@kalmtraveler3 жыл бұрын
@@ryancue9240 if you're wanting as clean of an install as possible you need to pull the whole dash out of the car and screw the bracket in from behind. US dashboards have all the mounting points for the bracket back there, you just need 7 more screws to mount it. I just did this today and it fits perfectly - the bezel absolutely will not work though - need to go custom or have someone 3D scan the JDM bezel, flip it for LHD dash and 3D print that LHD version.
@ryancue92403 жыл бұрын

@@ryancue9240 how flush does it fit? just eyeballing this one, if I flex it to try to force it in - it deforms a bunch and I get gaps on the top and bottom so I was going to just try the 3D scan and print route.

Did you do anything to help with the fact that it's curved to the right side? Is the screen annoying to use because of the jdm bezel?
@BrandoMotion4 жыл бұрын
That was the main reason I filled it in with epoxy and filler to fill in the gap the curve creates. I’m working on a better looking bezel. With this Alpine unit it’s not so bad although the buttons to operate it are at the bottom of the unit close to the bottom of the bezel.
