The thing I always hated most in this movie is that both of the villans are a version of the Joker, they act nothing like Two Face and Riddler.

Paholala that's also where Jesse Eisenberg got his inspiration for Lex Luthor. Unless, he (hopefully) gets retconned as the Riddler working for the real Lex, so Lex can actively work against batman/superman and not risk retribution.

I was actually very OK with Carrey. He was one of the only things I loved about the movie LOL Two Face on the other hand felt off and sucked. Even back then when I was a kid and loved this movie, I still hated that character. They did not use Tommy the way they were supposed to. Because as both a big fan of Carrey AND TLJ, I thought the conflicting personalities they had would be an amazing dynamic. But they ruined it by telling Tommy to try to be LIKE Jim Carrey and match his energy, which if any one of you knows Jim, is impossible LOL so it came out weird. I never liked it and I hate it even more as an adult

I am sure people felt betrayed and cheated when a guy they might have followed, liked and admired for years, even before movie fights started , turned out to be a creep. He was one of the people that made being a nerd okay for me. But after all that, I am not going to stop enjoying screen junkies for what it is, because while Andy may have set back nerds and geeks by several years, reestablishing the creep stereotype, it does not make it okay to boycott screen junkies for it. Also, practically speaking, I don’t see why hating screen junkies would help with anything. If anything, you’re forgetting these guys were quick to support the fans. Did they only do it after it blew up publicly? Yes, well, that’s how things work in big companies. Like it or not. And boycotting screen junkies is not going to solve this. It’s a long battle, and we all need to work towards spreading a healthy fan environment. We’re only here to enjoy movies after all.

Actually, I didn't love him. In fact, he kind of annoyed the crap out of me even before I heard he was a major creeper. I didn't like the energy he had on screen in these or in Movie Fights and I really wish I saw less of him. Watching videos with him was like going, "Dan, my man! ! Spencer, up top buddy!...oh, Andy...you're here...yep....just had to put yourself on camera again, didn't ya?"

I actually had the Catwoman and Robin action figures from Batman Returns so Burton took my allowance. Val Kilmer was hot for a 90s gentleman. Chris was useful as a token to Pleasure Town. Kidman was Kidman before Botox. It was no Batman Returns but Batman Forever's soundtrack got me hooked on PJ Harvey.

I have enough of a fondness for 'Batman Forever' to, if not fully defend it as a good film, at least argue its merits. I don't hate it as much as a lot of people seem to and I always find it easy enough to watch if flipping channels. I think most of the flack this movie gets is the hindsight of the same creative team also doing Batman & Robin, with which this film always gets lumped because it shares the same director. Of course, it's not quite the same creative team, because Batman Forever started out as a Burton/Keaton script before being lightened up with Schumacher. Comparing the two films, B&R is clearly the result of the Schumacher/Akiva Goldsman influence on Forever being cranked up to 11 when allowed to start from scratch on their own project. And also a misinterpretation of the things that people might have liked about Forever when compared with the Burton movies. When you look at just the story elements, Forever has a lot of interesting layers to it in regards to the exploration of the psychology of Batman. At its core is Batman's struggle to reconcile his Batman and Bruce Wayne personas when he sees what effect they have on others. On the one hand, you have Robin, who aspires to be Batman. On the other you have Edward Nygma, who wants to be Bruce Wayne. Given the themes of duality the film wants to play with, it's only natural for Two-Face to be the primary villain, given how he's the internal embodiment of the identity struggle that plagues Bruce externally. That's why the Chase Meridian character is there, a psychologist to help Bruce sort out these issues. Note how she's basically dating both Batman and Bruce Wayne, and has affections for different qualities in both without realizing they're the same person. These are fascinating dynamics that are still more or less present in the final film, but are more or less papered over by the Schumacher style to keep things more or less on a very colorful surface, turning the dial on the villains to such a cartoonish setting that the character subtleties are extremely blurred if not lost altogether. Schumacher often said he wanted to make a living comic book, but seems to have interpreted comics as a visual medium and not a serious vehicle for storytelling. I have always suspected that whatever good elements exist in Batman Forever are holdovers from a lengthy production process and a time from before Schumacher got involved. In this regard, it's good that we have B&R to provide a point of comparison against a fully Schumacher/Goldsman Batman movie. From this perspective, it's clear to me how much of Forever is the bridge between Burton and Schumacher's approaches, and that had there been no B&R, Forever wouldn't seem too out of place with the Burton films.

Yeah the drive through line was done deliberately and solely for Mcdonalds who can also be directly blamed for Tim Burtons departure. Since the first Batman film was such a merchandise juggernaut... like EVERYTHINg in 1989 had a bat symbol on it... Warner Brothers licensed the HELL out of the second before it had even been made. Mcdonalds paid a lot for exclusive toy contract for Happy Meals and then suprise, no kids actually saw the film (or those who did were traumatised) So even though the film still made a ton of money, especially by sequel standards, Warner Brothers canned Burton deliberately just to show companies the film would be going in a different direction
