Better than the Zman Crusteaz for Surf Perch?

Thank you for the tip, the Zman Salty Ned Shrimpz worked for me this weekend. Caught 4 serf perch at Pier Point Beach in Ventura.

The shrimp spins because you have it rigged with a slight curve in the body. It needs to be straight. This is true for any soft plastics & a light jig head will also help.

Love my Hawaiian Custom Menpachi Special. I have been using it since 2019. It has been my surf perch/striper rod for years. I have landed a few king salmon out in Monterey Bay with it as well. I even brought it with me on vacation in Hawaii.

Seen anglers use a jig head for shrimp with the shrimp going on tail first. the head then stands up. This lure matches the California brown shrimp( (Penaeus Califomiensis) which can be found in the surf

The floating bait is getting hammered by the waves. A very small jig head should help.

90 degree aberdeen hook might reduce that spin. Also makes the hook point come out the bottom like you had your rigged.

Instead of the Carolina rig, I’ve been using a 20# dropper loop with 1.5oz weight. The leader does not foul up, so also I can retrieve it super slow.

Rig them hi/low. Or if you insist on using carolina, add some weight with either small jig head, or swimbait/ewg to act as rudder. I can recommend Mule fishing baits for good perch action. They use elaztech material also, and have more than a couple baits that work really well for the perch. The donkey tails in both sizes, minnows, even the burro bug. Paired with a micro jig to keep them a little down or hi/low and they are deadly.

I don't like zman soft plastic baits because I put them in my tackle box and they melted so ever since I haven't bought any and I will never buy them again zman bait needs to make a new formula so the soft plastic don't melt
