I completely understand your hatred of cotton (100% kind) I have found a couple that are really great but the rest are absolute torture on my hands and shoulders. Team Acrylic! Your makes are always so cute! You find the best patterns. I am an amigurumi designer and YES you can always alter a pattern to fit your needs especially it is just for you or a gift. If you sell you do need to credit the designer but other than that, no problems. I love altering patterns (even my own LOL) to give them a new update or turn them into something specific.

Exactly! There are a very select few, pure cotton yarns I enjoy. If I do go cotton, I always do a blend. Acrylic is definitely my fave too. And yes, adding your own spin to anything is awesome! It truly makes pieces your own. I can’t wait to see what Tots you do for Xmas. 😉🎄♥️

Your videos are so enjoyable! And I am now caught up on every one you have made (your first ones are great!). And I have to agree that the people in this crochet community are SUPER nice. I'm also going to be talking about my experience with the Impkins book sometime during this week (I have no schedule...and just like you said, the videos come out when they come out 😅). I found crocheting the Impkin to be an, um...interesting experience. But, more on that later 😊 Also good to hear your thoughts on the TL yarn, I've been itching to get some.

Thanks, Cindy for the fun chat. I too hate cottom but I was given some that had 40% acrylic with the cotton and it was so much easier! So I am just pretending that it is a cotton yarn and using it in patterns that call for cotton-part cotton counts as cotton doesn't it lol!

Just had your video pop up and am delighted that it did. I have subscribed. And I have to say, those early videos, please don’t be ashamed or embarrassed!I have not watched them yet, but just look at it as the learning curve we all take when we try something new. Looking back shows how far you have come in such a short time. Think back when you were learning to crochet, or when you see a beginner…would you be embarrassed or embarrass them for just starting and learning and not being perfect from the start? Of course not, so be gentle on your early videos, you had the guts to do it. And that is a huge positive! So hold your head high with those beginning videos! Love and blessings to you from Scotland, another crocheter in the world with no crochet friends in my area. ❤️

@@therumimillcrochet I am originally from the US (Vermont), but have lived in the Highlands of Scotland for the last 28 years…more than half my life. When I go back to visit my family, they say I have picked up the Scottish accent but folks here say no, I have a very thick American accent. It is such a beautiful country and although it is a small one, there is such a huge change of scenic beauty types. If you ever get the chance, it is so worth a visit! I still pinch myself that I get to live here. I love the crafting community but especially the crochet community. Most folks are just so friendly, kind, and helpful. I seldom see folks being rude and nasty as I do in almost every other community. When I find myself getting all wound up and am ready to spit nails, I come watch a few crochet videos here on yt or get my crocheting out and listen to an audio book or podcast, and I can feel myself settling back to my gentle self. I am so glad your channel popped up and I look forward to joining in with your channel. I hope you are having a wonderful day! ❤

@@shelleysmith4017 Vermont!!! Vermont!!!! 🤣😉 One of my friends lives there and the photos she posts are breath taking. So, really you have it made on both ends. My 23 and me says I’m 99.2 northern English, Scottish and Irish descent, so basically you’re in my homeland. 🤣 And it’s definitely on my bucket list. My husband has a scotch whiskey that he buys and he gets a square meter of land with each purchase. He keeps wanting to come and view his plots. 🤣😂 I think it’s a perfect excuse to visit. He also works in the oil field and their company has a location in Aberdeen, I love when I get to listen in on the calls. Though some of those Scottish accents are so heavy, I swear they just speak with a mouth full of marbles. 🤣 Crochet definitely brings me peace too. It’s calming and monotonous and I do it well, which I can’t say for all of my crafts, and that just makes me feel better on the days when nothing goes well.

@@therumimillcrochet Lol yes I have been very lucky. And Vt is stunning too, especially in the fall. There is nowhere else that comes close to it for the fall colors! Oh wow, you are proper Celtic! I am a major mutt lol or as my mom used to say, a Heinz 57. Lol. When you decide it is time to visit Scotland, there are a few great inexpensive airlines…KLM is a Dutch one that I highly recommend especially if you have long legs or wide hips as it is the roomiest seats I have found for travel. Iceland Air is my second favorite. Both have a short layover in their home country but not for very long usually. I was home visiting my family this summer and paid under $600 round trip per person flying into Boston. Delta has direct flights from New England but not sure about elsewhere. Air Lingus, an Irish airline says they do direct flights but they don’t really as they have a stop in Ireland and you go through immigration there before getting to the UK. If you choose them, they are quite cheap compared to American Airlines, United, British Airways, etc but just remember if you buy duty free that the shop worker seals the bag. Because your ticket says it is a direct flight, they often don’t and when you get to Ireland they won’t let it go through. I had it happen to me 😢 all I can say is thank goodness yarn isn’t restricted lol as I came back from the US with a suitcase fill in a vacuum pack bag. I am not a whisky fan (bad teenage experience lol), but it is amazing the different whiskies here. You can have two distilleries next to each other and they taste completely different. When Hubby and I first married, I moved over two days after the wedding and for our honeymoon, we spent two weeks exploring my new country. We went to the oldest active distillery and took a special tour. At the end we were given a sample of a 120 year old scotch. I nearly got kicked out of Scotland when I asked if I could have some cola to put in it. The place went so quiet and everyone was looking at me. My hubby laughed loudly and said his new wife was such a joker, while whispering to me to just shut up and drink it 🤣 Once I did, everyone laughed and went back to their own thing. The whisky trail is something I highly recommend following when you guys come over. Your Hubby will be in heaven. The areas often have small bespoke yarn shops where the bigger distilleries are…but yarn here is so much more expensive than back home. Although the more unique wool yarns are so delicious to work with. When we travel, my hubby is a Professor and Research Scientist, so we travel a lot for conferences, I always find a yarn shop to buy a couple skeins of something unique to that country and I find a garden Center to buy seeds to grow something different. Much better than the tourist stuff that just collects dust in my opinion lol. Aberdeen is beautiful although the native Aberdonians have a thick accent that took me ages to understand. When I moved here our elderly neighbor was quite friendly and chatty, he grew up in Aberdeen and never lost that accent. I could not understand a word lol so would not go outside until hubby was home so that he could answer with the gist of the question in it so I could follow along 😂. After a few years I finally got the nack lol. I love that the company gives you a small plot of land, so your hubby is a Laird…most folks think it is a gimmick and it is, but it is also a real title that can be legally used. Oh and depending how long you have to visit (a week is nowhere enough), the Scottish islands are definitely worth a visit too! They are each unique and have their own distilleries also. And gin has become a huge industry here too, so if you like gin, you can get some amazing gins and gin liquore. I would also recommend, if you like scenery, to drive the NC500 (north coast 500) which is 500 miles of the most incredible views. The north of England is also spectacular! The rolling mountains are stunning and the lakes are so beautiful. There is just so much to see and do over here. ❤

@@shelleysmith4017 you are a wonderful wealth of knowledge. I’m betting we could talk all day….and believe me I would pepper you with questions about everything. I’m with you on scotch, whiskey and bourbon…I just can’t. It all tastes like cough syrup to me. Even the smell. There might have been some overindulgence in college. 🤷🏻‍♀️😜There needs to be a lot of fruit juice for me to enjoy it and even then…it’s only ehhhh. But the hubby likes a huge variety of it. You have listed so much wonderful stuff. It’s our hope to go there one day. He’s a Heinz 57. 1/16 Native American and we had always believed that the Smiles name was Indian, turns out it’s actually Scottish. I think it’s been modified through the years but I never would have thought it was Scottish. So we need to visit the homeland. We are gonna need to stay in touch. Because I can see this becoming a tremendous cross continental friendship all tied up with a beautiful yarny bow. 💗💗💗

For the smaller size impkins necks maybe you could use those form pencils grips? They usually come in packs and they’re smaller than hair curlers.

Love Connie and Dobby’s cousin, Robby! Too cute! I just saw a podcaster (which one, I don’t know), but she makes 3 arms for her toys and puts one of the arms in the neck, then stuffs the arm to make a less-wobbly head. I haven’t tried it yet because I can’t stop making pumpkins, but FYI. Zsa Zsa is absolutely darling!

That’s a really good idea. I think I’ve seen something similar floating around and this person crochets a tube to fit in the neck. I think Connie and Robbie are gonna be up to no good over here,it’s a good thing they are cute. 🤣😂

WOW!!! I just found you! I have only just started teaching myself to Crochet! I've made a blanket. I sew teddy bears. Saw some patterns for some beautiful crochet bears and bought a pattern. Then thought I had to teach myself to crochet first!!!! I live in Australia so hello to you my new friend. Will be looking through all your videos... Oh yes people are mean on here. But don't waste your time or energy on them at all. It's not worth your worry.

Hi Cindy! As I'm writing this comment, you are up to 13 comments....if you continue this way, you too are gonna neeed an assistant!!! About the slst, ch 1 I 'm exactly the same way as you, even with a stitch marker, I'm having problem to have the right stitch count. So I NEVER DO IT! Same for cotton yarn. I dont wanna use it for any single amigurumi! . I dont like the look of it, especially in amigurumis. I dont like the feel of it and I wont pay high price for expensice softer cotton. Acrylic is perfect for me ...I do amigurumis for approx 95% of my crochet.. I love your little squirrel🥰🥰🥰

It is a relief to know I’m not alone in my disdain for cotton. I know so many love it, but I just can’t. Can’t. And again those sl ch 1….how is that so confusing? But it is and messes me up sooooooo bad. It’s not worth the torment to even attempt. And….what in the world am I gonna do when I hit 20 comments????🤣🤩 So glad you’re here and I’m in good company. 💗
