I'm happy you're reviewing these Chinese made products. The name/origin of manufacturing has a negative connotation to it, but clearly you're displaying that most of their products have a decent amount of quality to them. Dennis -- Thank you for making these videos; by which I mean all your videos, not just your China Tools series. The time you take shows in the quality of the video. Question: Have you considered comparing aluminium T-tracks to T-slots cut into the wood itself? I'm not sure how well T-slots would work with MDF, but they seem to work very well with Baltic birch plywood or solid wood. The advantages of T-slots are they are stronger (unless the T-track is held in with long screws into material that holds screws well). They seem to be quicker and easier to install. (With a T-slot, once you've used your router to cut the slot, you're done. With a T-track, you need to cut a slot into the wood for the track and then cut the track to fit, and glue/screw it into place.) And, finally, T-slots are less expensive. The disadvantage of T-slots is that they would seem to wear out over time. I ask because I think you could make an interesting and informative video addressing when and why you'd use one solution over the other.
@HookedonWood3 жыл бұрын
Hi David, No I did not compare them. On this moment I can not compare them. I hoped my rail guide clamps would fit the T-tracks but this was not the case. Otherwise I would compare them. These smalle clamps do not fit the Micro Jig grooves. So, I did not have the opportunity yet.

Thank you for another wonderful video, Dennis. The lengths you will go to thoroughly test all these China Tools is astounding. I should also add that the pieces you created for "testing purposes" are extremely impressive. Far superior in artistry and function to anything one would find in my shop. If I could impose, I do have a few questions. Could you expound on how it is that the grey slider nuts work with the red and blue miter track, but not with the grey? Also, do I understand correctly that the blue and red slider nuts provided with the accessories work with all three colors of miter track? Finally, when working with the small tracks do the clamps and stops work better with M6 or M8 T-bolts, or does it matter at all? Thanks again. Looking forward to Episode 27.
@HookedonWood3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comments. I appreciate it! About the questions. The dark grey T-track has other dimensions (Slightly) The dimensions are correct according there drawing but it is just slightly different than the others. Because of that, the silver slider comes just a bit above the T-track, so it will not clamp. The blue slider is a bit thinner than the silver slider so, that is why it works here. All the miter stoppers works perfectly with all the colors T-tracks, except the dark gray one. It is a bit confusing perhaps, and Banggood actually did not send me this dark one. I bought it myself. But I wanted to implement it in this video so people know. I think the M8 screws work better with the small T-tracks. The M6 are smaller and therefore they can turn a bit when you slide them and then they hassle. The M8 slides smoother.

Hi there, nice video and just in time because I need to make up a router table and a bit confused looking at the items on banggood- I purchased just a couple of things and not thought slightly ahead with sizes of things such as T rack(the small one which is a bit of a waste of time and money - I found anyway ) When it comes to the T Tracks, the blue one seems the safe bet since it fits the sliders etc? I think you said at 4.34 min the grey t track is not a good fit for the sliders? I will keep it in mind. The idea to change from Makita to Festool was always there. But the first accupack is always so expansive. When you have it, adding extra products asked smaller steps financially. But it is just that it is such a pleasure to work with Festool. There is almost nothing you can not do with a Makita, but it works so smooth with Festool. So, definitely not necessary, but just for pleasure.

Have you found a flip stop that works with the smaller T-track? (great videos by the way)
@AdamBaranyai3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dennis, Thanks for this video, very informative as usual. I'm planning to add two t-tracks to my workbench router table to hold the router fence and I'm trying to find out if I should go with the 19x9.5mm (small) t-track or the 30x12.8mm (big, miter) t-track. It seems to me as if the small t-track can only hold t-screws and none of the hold down clamps can be attached to them. Both types have T groove so they seem to be able to hold against a force that pulls them upwards. Do you see any advantage of going with the small t-tracks other than it takes up less space?
@HookedonWood3 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. There are smaller T-tracks that fits a rail guide clamp. Banggood does not sell these. That give some extra. But further, the miter track has much more possibilities.

By the way, where do you see the miter track with the ruler being an advantage over a simple non-ruler type miter track? I guess the ruler can come in handy with a crosscut sled but other than that where else would you prefer to use the one with the ruler?

Yess, cross-cut sledge, in some cases drill press plafform. If you want to make a fence for your miter saw and for your router. If you use it on your router, you can use it to add stops. With a ruler you can plat them correctly. This do only counts in specific situations
