Hope for a New Jak and Daxter..

This latest bit of Jak and Daxter news provides a nice glimmer of hope for the future of this dormant Naughty Dog franchise. Will we see Jak 4 or a Jak Remake of some kind in the future?

Tom Holland as Jak is as big of a miscasting as Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, but the real crime here is not casting Max Cascella as Daxter.

Some day, Naughty Dog has to acknowledge all of us fans who want more Jak and Daxter, and we will get to play a compromised half-measure made to appeal to "modern audiences", and we finally get to complain about how they ruined it and should have just let the franchise stay in the past

If the movie does decent, I wouldn't put it past them to ether A. Turn it into a small series of bad movies and forgo making games. Or B. Reboot the games but remove all its original identity and fuck it all up for the sake of broader audiences. But its more likely that we will get just one bad movie, and that's it. In a perfect world, the movie would turn out surprisingly good, we get the original trilogy faithfully remade with modern visuals and QOL, and we get a continuation to the story in the form of a new game.

They’ll definitely make Daxter less of a “ladies man”. The tone from Precursor Legacy to 2/3 is very stark. I can see so many ways Sony will mess this up when all they have to do is just stick close to the subject material because it’s their own IP and the games are from the early 2000’s (old enough for young people to have zero clue about it).

Tom Holland should not voice act as Jak. I am tired of Hollywood hiring actors instead of VOICE ACTORS. They need to stop putting famous people in movies who obviously have no experience with it or those who don't fit the characters voice at all. And Chris Pratt would be a awful voice for Daxter. He already voiced Mario and Garfield and his voice sounded nothing like the characters. Just stop getting Chris to voice act in animated movies altogether. If the movie is still in the works, all I'm hoping for is that it's animated and Max Casella as Daxter, I can't see anyone else voicing him other then this guy. Then I'll actually look forward to watching it. At this point, I'd love to see any new Jak content, but I also don't want it to fail or be completely different from the original game franchise.

exactly and that's what I think Jak and Daxter needs. The current fanbase may not be big enough to justify a new game, especially with how risk averse Sony is lately, but make it a smash success movie and suddenly it's back in play!

4:44 you realize spin-jumping is the WORST attack in the game, right? Please tell me you didn't use that attack throughout all of Jak 2 and 3. It's meant to be a panic move for when you get surrounded, not an effective way of killing enemies. The series has the most in-depth gun-melee combo combat of any PS2 game on the market with tons of combos and strategies for any number of combat scenarios, so please for the love of GOD don't tell me you SPIN-JUMPED through every encounter!

With "Jak and Daxter" being very inconsistent as a series to the point that it doesn't have a central identity of its own (due to following trends after the first game), continuing right after the third game would be a giant muddled mess for everyone. Therefore, a full blown reboot would be the best way to go. This will definitely alienate many fans, but it's the only way to bring the series back.

True I see that. I really like the OG story so if it is rebooted I hope it maintains a similar throughline. Ruben’s take on Uncharted was not completely faithful to the original so I imagine neither will the Jak movie and thus the game may go that route

Tbh I only really loved the first game. Precursor Legacy's world was drew me in as a child, and we didn't get enough of that world imo. Don't get me wrong, Jak 2 is a great game. I replay both, but Jak 2 killed the world of the first game. My favorite part was the mountain temple, go figure. I just wish that Jak 2 was actually Jak 3 and we got one game in between the two in Legacy's world.

what do you mean spin jumping all your shots? jak 2 and 3 have one of the best 3rd person shooter aspects of all time. I managed to figure out how to use the guns myself. But i would recommend POWERCELL ZEKE's video on how the guns of jak 2 work. You'll see how easy yet how deep the gunplay is.

Don't get me wrong, I do like Chris Pratt's voice in animated movies but it's just not the same without Max Casella as Daxter. He's THE perfect voice for Dax 😢
