The barrel is still current tech though and is why its only rated for about 10,000 rounds. And of course, the Virtus/MCX is basically just an American improvement on the HK 416 of 2004. And of course, the 416 is not new technology: it combined the G36 gas system (which was basically that of an AR18) with an Ar15. So all our firearms development on two continents over 60 years can be summed up as combining two existing guns from the 1960s, and then making them handle higher pressure.

This isn’t necessarily a true Glock clone like a 920 or a dagger, but the most common transitions I see are to the SIG 365 platform. Especially the XMacro. You have the exact same dimensions but with a slimmer profile yet more bullets. You have sights that are, in my official calculations, approximately 200 times superior and comes optic ready. You have the grip angle fix and a mildly better trigger. The only downside is that it’s Sig.
@ryanpeck33774 ай бұрын
Except it's taller (longer grip) than a G19, (inbetween a 19 & G17 but grip length is one of the main reasons people buy a G19. Being as that is important for concealed carrying I personally couldn't go any longer than G19 for carry) plus the slide only accepts the smaller size reddots. Holosun K, Holosun EPS Carry etc. Which is limiting and on pistols you really want the biggest window you can get (thats still durable enough for your needs)... plus while you can get some concealed holsters I don't think safariland has duty holsters for it. The Glock 19 can work as a concealed carry and also a duty gun. The Sig 365 are really just concealed carry guns. Maybe regular p356/xl for summer and p365 xmacro frame for winter carry

Yeah, pretty sure that's true. There are two kinds of people who buy glocks. Those who go to the store and just ask for a handgun/say the only name they know and those who know exactly why they buy a glock. The first group is kinda irrelevant here. The second group buys glocks cause they want glocks. So to make them buy something else, that something else has to be everything a glock is, plus a little more and/or for a lower price. If someone deliberately chooses a glock they've already decided they want striker fired. They've decided they want minimal controls. They've decided they want a polymer frame. So if you offer them something else, they're not gonna buy it

I do not think that EVERY striker fired polymer pistol is a “glock clone” what makes a Glock, a Glock, is that trash trigger, frame, grip angle, and lovely slide bitting ass end. Once you change the frame, the firing controls, grip angle, and trigger, it’s no longer a Glock or a Glock clone in my opinion. You can crucify me for it, but that’s honestly how I feel. Unless you can interchange every single part on the gun with a Glock part, then it’s not a Glock clone. Plenty of guns on the market today kill the Glock in every single way except the fact that cops haven’t been using them since the early 90’s, but in every other way are leaps and bounds above the Glock.

CZ P-10 C should have made your list of potential Glock killers.

The APX is actually more reliable with varying ammo types then the glock, also has a cool slide return when you slam in the new magazine, it chambers the next round from the fresh magazine automatically simply by putting a bit more force on the magazine as you feed it in. And its arguably more accurate. And cheaper.

The, It's not a bug, it's a feature. First I've heard of someone trying to sell it was with the CZ P-10. Some modded CZ 75 pins to get that heavily worn 'feature'.

I have an APX-A1 I picked up on a whim because it's cheap. I don't have enough rounds through it to endorse it, but out-of-the-box, feature-wise it's pretty solid. However the painted on finish is laughably bad on the slide, and a real sign of immense cost savings. For $300, I couldn't complain, but not sure I'll hang onto it.

Only thing holding the shadow systems guns back are the mushy triggers.

I believe that by the end of the decade you will be able to buy defensive grade (not just competition) handgun that has no iron sights and red dot optic milled directly from the slide itself, no screws, and not removable.

Finally someone who doesn't bitch and whine about the standard Glock trigger. Try packing a S&W model 64 for two years with their horrible double action trigger and then switching to a Gen 1 Glock. Amazing.

The mr920p is on my want list, but all Glock like substances have been moved down the hierarchy as I have become fascinated with hammer fired performance. Like a lifelong Ralph's customer tip toeing into a Whole Paycheck...err I mean Whole Foods

Directly mounted red dots to the MOS system like the Holosun SCS are a godsend: no plates, cowitness with the factory sights and it even has rear serrations.

I haven't owned a Glock in 20 years. However I do own 8 Tricked out Polymer 80 PF940C's that I'm really loving. I'm still acclimating to the whole pistol RMR Red Dot thing but it's great for a pillow gun when combined with a Streamlight TLR-7.

Funny thing is Glock already has different versions of the MOS cut for mounting specific optics patterns directly, they just don't sell them to civilians

The thing about having to swithch out the iron sights on a milled slide is not really true. You can mill deeper into a glock than most shops do. It's just an R&D issue and some shops opting to take the easy route and tell the customer that deeper is not possible.

My favorite not-a-glock glock so far as been a SCT 43X lower with whatever upper you want. 15 rounds, the gen 4 style mag release, a super defined 2 stage trigger, 1911 grip angle, nice texture and contours, and dealers choice of 43 or 48 length slide. The only downside is the safety blade protrudes from the front of the trigger but you can fix that with either a 10 dollar part or a dremel.

I had a PDP and an Sig M17, both pretty decked out, and I loved how they shot… but my $400 Glock clone still shot better. Sold them both, Arex Delta L for the win. Shoots flatter, better grip angle, faster follow ups, slim frame, and way way cheaper. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That being said, I’ll take ANY pistol with a red dot over a super fancy model with iron sights. Red dots make a massive difference with handguns
