The barrel is still current tech though and is why its only rated for about 10,000 rounds. And of course, the Virtus/MCX is basically just an American improvement on the HK 416 of 2004. And of course, the 416 is not new technology: it combined the G36 gas system (which was basically that of an AR18) with an Ar15. So all our firearms development on two continents over 60 years can be summed up as combining two existing guns from the 1960s, and then making them handle higher pressure.

They forget because the VP70 was a commercial flop. No one wanted a direct blowback gun with an 18 lb trigger. It was like a Highpoint with a bigger magazine and an awful trigger at HK prices. We also couldn’t have the plastic stock that made them full auto.

Stock Glocks tend to be extremely reliable and require minimal maintenance with a large assortment of magazines and ammunition types. The trade-off is that they're not particularly good at anything, it's a jack-of-all-trades vs specialized tradesman type of argument. If you want more performance there are better options on the market.

I will say my genuine opinion of a Glock ki||er was actually the Walther P99. The striker is different and unique. It was designed in the early 90s with the help of Wesp. Wesp worked at Steyr then Glock. He helped design the P99. Other than a DA/SA striker, the striker design itself carried over to the PDP and PPQ.

This isn’t necessarily a true Glock clone like a 920 or a dagger, but the most common transitions I see are to the SIG 365 platform. Especially the XMacro. You have the exact same dimensions but with a slimmer profile yet more bullets. You have sights that are, in my official calculations, approximately 200 times superior and comes optic ready. You have the grip angle fix and a mildly better trigger. The only downside is that it’s Sig.
@ryanpeck33777 ай бұрын
Except it's taller (longer grip) than a G19, (inbetween a 19 & G17 but grip length is one of the main reasons people buy a G19. Being as that is important for concealed carrying I personally couldn't go any longer than G19 for carry) plus the slide only accepts the smaller size reddots. Holosun K, Holosun EPS Carry etc. Which is limiting and on pistols you really want the biggest window you can get (thats still durable enough for your needs)... plus while you can get some concealed holsters I don't think safariland has duty holsters for it. The Glock 19 can work as a concealed carry and also a duty gun. The Sig 365 are really just concealed carry guns. Maybe regular p356/xl for summer and p365 xmacro frame for winter carry

Honestly I think if Glock remains the same and doesn’t add things we want out of the box then the competing companies will rule over them with the older systems having what we want. But Glock is Glock, and Glock is good so to speak.

If you want a stock glock without the cost one of the king of this has always been the S&W SD9 SD40 VE series. It doesn't try to be more than a glock but does everything it does at exactly half the pricepoint; comes with a nasty but fixable trigger pull though much like the gen 2 glock. It is an actual genuine clone-clone of a gen 2 glock to the point they got sued over it.. The only functional differences are external and the magazine size is -1 from full size models in the available calibers because its somewhere between the sub-compact and full size versions of a glock with a 4 inch barrel most closely comparable with a glock 19/23 but it still has 1 more round in both calibers. The SD in my opinion also has a superior magazine release that just feels natural and comfortable with no sharp edges. It is about 50-70 bucks cheaper on average than a dagger; this isn't something you get if you want optics mounted it is JUST and ONLY a no frills glock clone and probably the cheapest reliable one.
@Azsc20117 ай бұрын
Is this the sigma series from S&W? Because it's the only one I remember them getting sued for. A sigma was my first gun.. heavy a** trigger but I didn't know any better at the time. I heard the trigger being so heavy was because of the lawsuit and that the original release had great triggers but I could be wrong
@MasterTaters7 ай бұрын
@@Azsc2011 Yes it's basically the same pistol. The SD9/SD40 is a product improved version based on it with enough changes to get Glock off their backs. It is a direct derivation you've got it. There are nice trigger kits for it though from a couple different makers that basically all try and reduce the travel and pull weight. SDVE is specifically the improved version of the SWVE and they use the same magazines as the sigma. I may have incorrectly remembered exactly which model caused this but the SDVE(SD9/SD40) is what I'm currently talking about. They still have long travel but I do believe the pull weight is slightly lower stock. I don't know anything about whether or not the trigger was much nicer on the version glock sued for but I will just assume you are correct about that. You can pick one up for less than 300 for an SD9 or less than 330 or so for an SD40 if you find the right online vendors to ship to an FFL. The trigger kits cost 30 dollars or less so total cost remains about half but personally I don't mind the trigger too terribly much because I don't trust striker fired handguns as much as ones with a decocker or a safety anyway. I use the SD40 with a streamlight on it as a bedside table gun and I leave it loaded but unchambered so my cat doesn't set it off somehow. I carry one in the pipe with every gun I carry and I only carry guns with some form of safety.

Yeah, pretty sure that's true. There are two kinds of people who buy glocks. Those who go to the store and just ask for a handgun/say the only name they know and those who know exactly why they buy a glock. The first group is kinda irrelevant here. The second group buys glocks cause they want glocks. So to make them buy something else, that something else has to be everything a glock is, plus a little more and/or for a lower price. If someone deliberately chooses a glock they've already decided they want striker fired. They've decided they want minimal controls. They've decided they want a polymer frame. So if you offer them something else, they're not gonna buy it

I do not think that EVERY striker fired polymer pistol is a “glock clone” what makes a Glock, a Glock, is that trash trigger, frame, grip angle, and lovely slide bitting ass end. Once you change the frame, the firing controls, grip angle, and trigger, it’s no longer a Glock or a Glock clone in my opinion. You can crucify me for it, but that’s honestly how I feel. Unless you can interchange every single part on the gun with a Glock part, then it’s not a Glock clone. Plenty of guns on the market today kill the Glock in every single way except the fact that cops haven’t been using them since the early 90’s, but in every other way are leaps and bounds above the Glock.

I loved my 2nd Gen P10C so much that I bought a P10F. Much cheaper than a Glock but you need to upgrade the triggers & sights. HB Industries on the P10C, & an OverWatch on the P10F. Dawson fiber optic sights on each, Talon Grips on the P10C. The triggers are now equal to PPQ's & VP9's. They shoot great in IDPA competitions.

I have always found that PSA daggers to be really nice if you do not need the backstraps. I consider them to be an official "Glock Killer" when you put a more normal Glock style trigger in it, and put a HGW slide on them (just purchase the frame then get the slide seperately). 5K rounds zero issues.

The strings on the pants are a way to cinch the bottoms so that bugs and whatnot don't crawl up and bite your junk whilst you slumber. Other benefits may exist. Side note... most military style pants have slits in the hems so you can retrofit blousing straps to them. I have 5.11 and two clone brands and they all are setup like that.
