no one from the Caucasus (Avars, Chechens, Lak, Circassians, Ingush etc) would mind being grouped with the others, unless they're crazy nationalists for one reason or another. "Dagestani" isn't even an ethnicity it's the name of the republic with several ethnicities living in it. If you want to refer to the region and all of its ethnic groups as a whole, all of whom have been churning out champions amd medalists in combat sports for decades, "Kavkaz" would be the region and "Kavkazi" the adjective. "Caucasian" is obviously a word that comes with a lot of baggage in the west that we have nothing to do with nor want any association with. All of us have very similar cultures and values though very different languages. That being said, NO ONE would consider Roman Kopylov Kavkazi. He's a Slavic Russian and none of us are Slavic in any way shape or form. Hope that gives some knowledge to anyone who was curious
