Hey Bret, if you're planning another relocation to a box this year, I have a cool idea for you. Use a transparent tube to connect your box to the outside hole. This way you will be able to always see and film the wasps go in and out and what they carry, as well as the mating season exodus. Possibly even considering another box via tube which will be a foraging area that you can drop insects for them to hunt and for you to film.

I am learning a lot from you but I’m still nervous with wasps. I think it’s just the fact they’ll attack for no reason and sting you over and over. Having experienced four different stings in my childhood, they freakin’ hurt ☹️ a lot. But I’m learning. I now realize they are vital components to the ecosystem.

Love to see a animated comedyesque film of this narrative. Loads of nests into a box, all the hornets are panicking, then the hornetking puts them into a cool nature nest at his house, however a mumma and papa hornet are looking for their baby and have to travel to the original nest. Bit like finding nemo, and return. Or a TV14 alternate (like sausage party) with hornetking as the supposed villain. Haha!

It’s mow may 7th and I have about 28 insects in my collection at home IM OBSESSED I have 4 adult tarantulas, 1 juvenile, 8 babies, an assassin bug, 2 scorpions, a house spider, 3 mantis, 5 katydids, a millipede, a jumping spider… I think that’s all of them lol. Partly Thanks to you I now found a really cool hobby which I love ❤ Thanks, Dan

You had to enjoy removing that hornets nest with your stealthy ninja moves, they didn’t even see you coming! Had to laugh when you dumped all the nest for your girls to eat and watching the newly hatched hornets and yellow jackets running for the hills! Question: will skunks or possums eat the dead wasp, yellow jackets or hornets in the compost pile or are strictly looking for the larvae? Great video, best channel on KZbin!

There was a HUGE yellowjacket nest on/in my shed last year. I'm allergic & I didn't know it was there! I got scraped by 1 & ran into the house to get my Epipen & call 911. The Epipen was 2yrs past expiration date but was told to use it anyway. It worked & I was transported to hospital. Nest was sprayed but not removed & they came back!! I told front office & nest was removed. I wish I could put a pic on because that thing was HUGE!!😮

I had the same problem , I bought a pack of hukka coals and some sage smudges . The next day I lit the Coals And sat the sage on top for three days straight and smoked out the shed , one smudge per day . After the third day they all left and I snatched the nest and threw it in my fire pit . I also set the smudge and the coal on a ceramic plate to burn .

Have you considered setting up a primary vacuum at the entrance of a hive as a permanent set-up while you work? I'm just curious due to the amount of work you do clearing a nest then you have to wait for the returning foragers; setting up a primary vacuum at the entrance would automatically collect the returning foragers while you dispatched the nest, something I'm sure you have considered but I'm really curious of your thoughts. Thank you for your content, as a person who truly despises wasp I receive a great deal of satisfaction watching you dispatch a nest.

when you compost the nests, do you sometimes see a tendency for it to oversaturate the compost and maybe be detrimental. I've found if I do too much of 1 specific type like too many leaves or too many egg shells or what have you, it'll almost poison the compost
@HornetKingOfficial

No, it's not a strict compost. It's more of a area where I drop the nests. They just break down over time and the soil is black and rich.

What happens when you choose to just leave a nest? I think if I had a nest some place I didn't necessarily needed to be I'd prefer to just leave them until everything is hatched and everybody's left the nest and then remove it. Or would that take way too long?
