The lack of empathy and blatant disregard displayed by some medical practitioners and emergency dispatchers during critical life-or-death situations is a deeply troubling aspect of my nursing profession. It is distressing to witness a scarcity of compassion and an unjustifiable inclination towards negligence, especially when simple actions could potentially prevent multiple fatalities.

@@GAshoneybear I am also curious to know the answer as to @shaldana's opinion on grading the other calls. @@primesspct2 I've known my local emergency response workers, and yeah, like... hearing from them humanized how hard it is to do such a job with flawless poise at all times. Firefighters, EMTs and medics all work seeing some of the worst shit a human can witness and their mental health suffers accordingly. I've got problems with policing as a system, but cops also have a high rate of mental health issues. It's not good. Especially because medical benefits are so often tied to your job, it creates a perverse incentive to remain at a post you're unfit for. Ambulance drivers specifically I know are hit really hard this way because something like 4 out of 5 of their calls are just rushing somebody's grandpa to the ER as he dies while you try futily to resuscitate him. Humans weren't made to be psychopomps, and we do not pay EMS folks well enough for that macabre task. They cope with having a fucked up sense of humor, like teaching CPR chest compressions to the beat of "Another One Bites the Dust". Can't blame 'em.

The reckless driving, to a degree of being so bad that the passenger jumped out of the car at the first chance he had, ANY 911 operator would have immediately got the location, the details of the vehicle, the driver, license plate number and anything else that could help police find the car, and find it quickly. If you wanna know how it feels to have your blood boil to the point of near death checkout the 911 call from the newspaper delivery lady who got swept into a creek by a flood & called 911 for help. Instead of help they scolded her. One of the most memorable lines were ‘this will teach you not to drive during flash floods’ the dispatcher spent critical time chastising her. She drowned. She was freaking out as the water was coming up to chest & neck level. It was clear she would soon drown & the dispatcher allowed it. The fear from that woman & the sociopathy of the dispatcher is still hard to believe.

Check out the Josh Powell case if you wanna experience the ultimate dispatch incompetence. The part where the social worker who dropped the kids off at Josh Powell's house calls 911 bc she literally sees how the dude sets fire on the house to blow up himself along with his two young sons - that conversation is blood boiling. Thanks to the douche dispatcher, two children died. In my book, that dispatch guy holds the record in incompetence. Thankfully he got fired. Too little too late though

As a 999 dispatcher in the UK, the dispatches attitude is shocking. Yes, we are held to numbers, stats and management attitude, but with an active event like this they would understand you being on the phone a bit longer. I can imagine it was stressful for them, but sometimes a little empathy is all people need and sometimes information will fall out of people when they are having their hand held through questioning.

We don't care about education, we don't want to pay for it, but then we're all "wha' happen?" when semi-literate, woefully undereducated kids are "graduated" with "diplomas," but are completely unable to comprehend and retain the written word. So we have recalls and plane crashes and stuff like airplane doors blowing out. People making stupid mistakes because they literally don't know any better and can't retain their training. Or they take shortcuts because "who the F cares, good enough." You don't learn to be an engineer or doctor or lawyer by watching videos.

This was the exact same we were walking to her car and I didn’t put it together until that moment. I had mentioned that I’m pretty sure I saw him a couple times, but that Wild Bull thing made it real. That night we went back to my moms and we all watched local news until he was caught. That lady should not be a dispatcher she was so dismissive and seemed irrited more than anything. Rather than taking the Uber riders complaint seriously as it should have been, she litterly did the bottom of the line step that one would use for a noise complaint from a neighbor or something. That man was driving erratically with a passenger and side swipes a car! Wth! I hope those dispatchers heard the recording of how they handled this and learned something. Also, maybe they should look at getting a different job. Their lack of action costs people their ðlives. And I'm angry about it. I'm so sick of this happening. Dr. Amen has lectured and written books about how brain/head injuries can cause this type of behavior. In fact, he had to search and beg brain surgeons to help a 17 year old kid because he went from being a sweet normal kid to a rage-a-holic after suffering High School football injuries. Finally, after the kid had surgery to fix the lesions, he went back to being the sweet normal kid and went on to be successful, etc. without ever having anger issues again. As a society, we really need to study this and help these people.

Given the restrictions of writing a comment, I could only put a tiny bit of what Dr Amen wrote about in his book. I think that this "Uber Driver" is where we all need him to be. He went out and killed people. He went home, armed himself, changed cars and continued his spree! He also seems to have been aware that what he was doing was wrong. Dr. Amen's patient was a teenager who did not commit any crimes. The kid's parents knew Dr. Amen and it was because of his behavioral changes that they asked for Dr. Amen's advice. Dr. Amen had to fight to get this kid help. My point is more about how as a society we pay for "head injuries" that people get as kids in sports, people end up with because of a car accidents or falls, etc. And it seems no one is paying attention. The thing that makes me wonder about this "Uber" guy is that he is inconsistent, one moment he seems reasonable the next he's disruptive; that is what a person with brain injury or disease is like. I worked in a sanitarium while I was in college - let me tell you, you can really see the people with physical brain injuries or disease vs the regular "crazies." With the brain "injury/disease" it was like hot and then cold. On and off. It seemed like they also lost the ability to understand cause and effect. @@dreaminginjapan

A few years ago here in N.S a guy drove around in a replica cop car shooting people. The cops new he was driving that car but didn't tell the public for hours. By then 22 people were killed. If they would have issued a public emergency and told people to stay inside and lock their doors I'm sure a lot of lives would have been saved.

Yes, he was very dangerous. I think about it now walking in my city. One man said he thinks he wasn't shot because he smiled at him.

The Gibson Guitar factory was also located in Kalamazoo, and the former workers purchased the Gibson factory when Gibson relocated to an bigger factory. The 'Heritage' guitars are now made in Gibson's old factory.

I’ve been subscribed for a while now and I’m so glad that I found your channel, I really enjoy the way that you tell the stories. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that the 911 operators are so badly trained. I think that Jason had a complete mental break down. Thank you for this story.❤️👏🏼👍🏻 on a happier note, what kind of a cat is with you it looks kind of strange?

Does anyone else find it odd that "don't get into cars with strangers" was drilled into our heads not too long ago, but now we actually pay to get into a stranger's car? Anyway, another great video, Adrian! I hope you and Nero have a great day!❤

I guess, though, taxis was always a thing for the longest time right?

That's always freaked me out so much. 😂 I have never as an adult got into a taxi or anything akin. Scares the hell out of me. Nearly lost it when my kiddos dad told me he was getting an uber to come see the kids; he knows how much it freaks me out and how I hate the idea of strangers knowing where my kids live (He never stops talking about them). Basically resulted in him saying he'll get it a few streets down in future. >

Yes. The irony of this is with me every time I get in an Uber. We are trusting people who we don’t know, and that are battle their own demons, every time we get in an Uber.

I’ve never felt ok with Uber drivers. Once in the states with my brother and it creeped me out.

I worked with him. He was an insurance adjuster and we own Auto Repair shops. I have email from him where we got in some arguments about 5 weeks before he did what he did. We also got in an argument in person around that time (5-6 weeks before). It’s crazy to think about.

He was extremely passive. He basically told me that we car order parts and do repairs without his authorization. He said “you know I will just pay for it” and I was saying to him that’s not how it works and he needs to get us the paperwork.
