I just hung up from taking to my son about his type 2 diabetes and how it's continuing to get worse. Thank you so much Dr Been.

A metabolically healthy female, I have been taking berberine (as a weak PCSK-9 inhibitor and because it encourages autophagy). At the same time I have been perplexed by the fact that whenever I do a five-day fast, my blood sugar drops into the hypoglycemic range. Your overview tells me that BBR may be the culprit because it impedes gluconeogenesis. So a week before a longer fast it's a good idea to stop taking it. Thank you for giving me that insight. This was a great overview. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Leukemia? Berberine can cause Leukemia. There is a 2013 study linking it to DNA damage. Causing chromosomal translocation which is what caused my CML. I took Berberine for months and I have been recently been diagnosed with CML. I have the Philadelphia chromosome which is caused by chromosomal translocation. Google Berberine DNA damage. There is a 2013 study on Science Direct.

Possible a lower body temperature leads to a higher body temperature and inflammation in damage done from localized temperature deregulation, a fever being immune mechanism or a deregulation in the autonomic functions and inhibiting diffusion in a power saving mode

Thank you so much for your videos. I love them because they discuss mechanisms. I have one concern, at 21:14 in this video you state that the berberine inhibits the electron transport chain and thus reduces the effectiveness of the mitochondria. Did I understand that correctly? How can that be good for us aging people that are always fighting diminished mitochondria effectiveness? One of the side effects that I have seen reported and may have experienced myself is muscle aches. Could that be due to loss of mitochondria effectiveness?

If you stop taking berberine and you are eating properly for type 2, does it spike back up again?
