"Be aware of your body. Your body is a masterpiece of the cosmos. The consciousness of the cosmos. Do you have the capacity to appreciate the wonder that is your body? Mother Earth is in you. Not underneath, or all around you- but in you, also. Father sun is in you; you are made of sunshine. You are made of fresh air, of fresh water. To be aware of that wonder, to value that wonder can only bring you a lot of happiness... Understanding suffering always brings compassion that has the power to heal, and you suffer less."

I started to tear up the moment he spoke on how our bodies are wonders. How he explained compassion for oneself. I've experienced trauma related to my own body, and grew to hate it so deeply for not protecting me. I want to love myself, to take care of the same body that wants me to heal. Thank you for your wisdom and gentle words.

Perfect. For the last five days I have been meditating near the spot where Buddha's foster mother attained Parinirvana. What better place. Imagine it. All the greats sat around where I sat looking on and helping Prajapati Gautami attaining Parinirvana. The spot is lovely and serene on the banks of the Ganges. Wow. The Buddha watched on, Sariputra and Mogallana watched on, Kassapa, Bhaddaji and the other disciples watched on, Visakha and Amrapali watched on, Theri Uppalavana watched on and helped Prajapati Gautami to have her last bath. The five hundred nuns were sitting around meditating. It took time. I was on that spot imagining that scene through my monkey mind as I tried to meditate. Namo Buddhay. Namaste.

Thank you and I love you. It has taken me almost a year to be in a place where I could watch more than the first minute. It has been a year of living in my mind and binge thinking, anything to avoid the present. Today, in this moment I am encouraging awareness through the act of being mindful to appreciate and love the somatic/spiritual journey. Namaste

You can not truly love another person until you deeply love yourself.
@kikujirofromkyoto
@kikujirofromkyoto 3 жыл бұрын
Yes. I'm 45 and I've only recently grasped the meaning of your statement emotionally. Loving yourself is the basis of everything. If you don't love yourself, you'll beat yourself up constantly over people that walk away from you, that ghost you or block you on social media, don't return your calls or messages. Since moment I've understood that I am enough and other people's behaviour towards me have nothing to do with me but has everything to do with them (especially if I've tried my best to make things work), I can happily let them go and move on. This is so liberating.

Instructions for Loving Yourself ~ Emotional Exercise 1 Picture a child you love very much at the age of 2 years old. Imagine this child before you and focus on the feelings of love you have for this child. Focus on your love for the child until it has expanded so much that you are smiling and feeling joy. After you have maintained this feeling for a few minutes, move this child to the side and place in front of you ~ yourself at the age of 2. Picture yourself now at the age of 2 and keep focusing on the feelings you built up for the first child ~ is not the second child as precious as the first? You are now loving yourself ~ stay with the feeling and expand it further ~ open your heart. Now that you know how to get into a feeling of love for yourself, you can change your age to focus on areas that may be more difficult for you to love yourself. Do this exercise daily and loving yourself will be become your natural response to yourself

Unconsciously, I have always tried to "find" my inner child (since a traumatic experience at 5 years old), and the urge has become so big through the years that lately it's the only thing in which I can think. What I was not aware of (at least not like the last year and few months) is that my inner child has always been there in every single one of my actions communicating at me, at the beginning, with a lower voice that has transformed into the only one that I can hear now. And it is amazing, I have never been as happy as this days, I spoiled myself, in a good way, (my inner child and all of my parts) every time that I can, I study what makes me feel passionate, I quit my job and say goodbye to old not very useful (spiritually) friends and lover with a kind heart wishing them only the best, to welcome new people that makes me happy and feel free. It is not easy, because there's a lot of things that wanted me unconscious of my whole being, and saying goodbye is not easy neither, but is has been more than worth it. My inner child has been the answer to my lacking feeling, and now I'm complete and learning everyday.

@peterpiper5300
@peterpiper5300 Жыл бұрын
how do you accept yourself as you are? please give concrete example.
@colorfullyme
@colorfullyme Жыл бұрын
@@peterpiper5300 sure.. so when you notice something about yourself that you do not like. Maybe it is something superficial about your body. Maybe it is something you did that you find embarrassing or bad. Maybe it is something you merely thought. In any case, you notice something you do not like. Usually in these moments we feel shame. We hate this thing and want to change it as fast as possible. To accept yourself as you are means to just take a step back and observe yourself, and to challenge the critical inner voice. It means to look at yourself without judgement or criticism. If you are able to do this for yourself, you will also stop judging other people. Some examples: I think I am too fat. I feel disgusting. I feel unattractive. I am scared no one will want to be with me because of this... Then I step back. Okay, I am a bit too fat. That is okay. Why did this happen? Because I have some inner pain and use food to soothe myself. Is it really true that no one will love me if I am fat? Of course not. So you see? I accept the fact that I am too fat AND try to understand why. Then I can decide what to do. Maybe I find new ways to soothe myself when I feel sad. Another example: I have obsessive compulsive disorder. I sometimes feel tormented by obsessive thoughts and anxieties. I do not like this about myself. It causes me to suffer, and it causes me to do embarrassing things. So what to do? I step back. Okay I am having obsessive thoughts. Why? Because I am in a situation that is causing me anxiety, and this is the subconscious strategy I developed to deal with anxiety. It is the best I could do as a child. If my behaviors make other people judge me or laugh at me, it is not my concern. They do not know what I went through. So again. I accept my mental health problems AND try to understand them. In this case, the solution is to learn to sit with the feeling of anxiety without obsessing or doing compulsions. Another one. Maybe I have an alcohol problem. Drinking makes me aggressive and violent. I have hurt people I love when I am drunk, and I feel terrible when I am sober. What to do? I take a step back and observe this. I observe this vicious cycle. I realize I started drinking because I could not cope with the pain in my life. I also realize I feel powerless to stop it. I work on separating my actions from who I am deep down. I acknowledge how my behavior is hurtful to others, AND I have compassion for myself. I seek external help because I am not able on my own. Having someone keep me away from alcohol for a while enables me to start working on the inner issues that caused me to start drinking in the first place. So you see? Pretty much everything that we hate about ourselves is caused by coping mechanisms. If we experienced stress as children (which we all did), and no one taught us to deal with it in a healthy way, the subconscious mind develops its own strategies. Often they are not healthy strategies and lead to other problems. Then we criticize ourselves for these problems. It does nothing but perpetuate the vicious cycle. Instead, we should observe anything that we dislike or hate without trying to change it right away. Just observe, accept, and try to understand. This takes courage. Many people are in denial and unwilling/unable to face their issues. So accepting yourself also means being honest with yourself as best you can, no matter how much you dislike what you see. In my experience, if I see an issue in myself clearly, it starts healing on it's own. Two other resources I recommend: Brene Brown's Ted Talk on vulnerability. And the book "Mindfulness in Plain English."

Buddhists were and are so ahead of their time. Thay always mentions animals, plants, and also minerals, as if they are also a living thing. I was just watching a Nova episode about how important minerals were to the formation of life and how closely interlinked we are. It talked about how minerals and life are so closely connected that they can’t really be separated. So it goes to show that everything really is one and that separation is just an illusion. I didn’t say this very eloquently but if you look up “rocks and the formation of life” I’m sure you’ll find the episode here on KZbin.

I lost myself in someone that is so hurt and in pain and yet I loved them so much. I lost the peace I had and my sense of self. Now I'm trying to recover that and the last parts of helping heal someone, I don't believe it to be true. I tried. I tried to help them and guide them to healing but in turn they hurt me so much and I nearly lost myself to that. Now I'm trying to go back home and it is an absolute mess, and I keep trying to run and avoid it even if I want to go back home. But the pain and mess is so much. Now I'm listening to these videos. I read his book in one of my college classes earlier this year (and at the time I was beginning to lose myself in love and trying to help this person). So the irony of all this coming back again full circle, I still have his book in my bookshelf, and at the time in my class, I had such a hard time connecting so many of his teachings into my life--because I had not experienced a lot of it. Now I did. And now I'm going to pick up his book almost 8 months later to reread and be able to understand his teachings and...go back home inside myself again. Thank you and I hope your soul is in bliss.

I make the choice no longer to suffer. I cannot change the pain I endure I can only change my attitude towards it. I love what's left of me. What's left of me is amazing. What's left of me is more than what most have. I am grateful and I will survive because I must. I will be happy because I must. I will be forgiven because I must. I love you Josh that's the only person you need to love you. I won't abandon me it will be ok. Everything is alright you have nothing to prove. Keep striving for you so you can help others. None of it matters. Only you matter. Don't let them hurt you anymore. You're stronger than them. I believe in me. I believe I can heal myself. I believe I will succeed. I refuse to give up.

For 7 years past and I just now found this treasure, I was amazed by his teaching. I am not a Buddhist and I don't have any knowledge of their teachings, but watching this really inspired me even the way he talked, hope he's still fine now. Thank you for just minutes of inspiring me, it helps a lot especially this time I am so unrestless because of trying to balance my work and my personal life. God bless.

1. Practise mindful breathing and/or walking and recognise you have a body in the here and now. 2. Rediscover that your body is a masterpiece of the cosmos, a wonder. 3. Take care of your body by - Releasing tension (suffering) in your body - Allowing yourself to be nourished by feelings of joy and happiness - Understanding suffering which brings about compassion that has the power to heal 4. When you help others suffer less, you suffer less and have more joy. 5. You cannot love someone else if you don't know how to love yourself.

Thank you for offering practical ways to start loving one's self. Most of the videos I have seen say to find something you love about yourself and focus on that. Well, that's not really practical when you don't love anything about yourself. But this one is the only advice that starts with something I can do right now without resistance from my mind - acknowledge my body. Thanks again.

He teaches also., breathing in, I know I have eyes. Breathing out, I smile to my eyes. Recognizing my eyes are a wonder. One of the conditions of happiness. Breathing in, I know I have a heart. Breathing out I say thank you to my heart... Etc. We have so much to be happy about. I love his teaching, his gentle spirit, his voice. I love. 💗

I cannot think of a more beautiful teaching. I beg all people to listen to this most holy of teachings. Let go of your culture, religion, strong identity. Go into the body with a pure mind. Then you will see the your truest nature, one that is truly happy and peaceful. Peace and enlightenment to all.

Namaste.
