Personal testimony here, my entire life changed when I got pregnant. I even quit doing drugs. It's true. For me it wasn't about the pain, it was the knowledge of having a 100% new, pure, innocent life of my own blood to now take care of, it was a new life, hope, a future

That's awesome. I just don't like it when people imply that a woman has to have children to live her best life or have a full life. For women who can't get pregnant or experience a successful pregnancy, it feels like a slap. Like you're not a real woman or you'll never truly be happy.

Father God, I come before you right now and I lift up your servant Raye. Thank you for the work that you've done bringing Raye to salvation in and through Jesus Christ. I pray right now for the trauma and negative emotions that Raye is experiencing as a result of what happened in the past. Father God, I pray that you will begin to comfort and heal your servant. I thank you that you are the God who redeems our broken past, and that you're already doing so for Raye. Help Raye to have a heart of forgiveness to be able to forgive that person from their past, just as you forgive us. I pray that your Holy Spirit will empower your servant to continue to walk in righteousness and to have a spirit of self-control, to not operate out of the flesh or the spirit of fear, but in faith that you are greater than any of the trials we experience here on Earth. God I pray for the person who hurt Raye. I thank you Father God that vengeance is yours, but I pray for this person's repentance and that you would deliver them and save them from their sin the same way that you've rescued all of us who are your children. I pray that you lift Raye up out of distress, and give your servant joy and a peace that surpasses all understanding. Thank you again that this situation is already being turned around for Raye's good and for your glory Father. I thank you Lord for the testimony that will come from Raye's life. Help your servant to continue to seek you, love you, and be obedient to your Word. Thank you Father. In Jesus' name, Amen.

A Christian woman’s being safe through childbearing doesn’t mean that giving birth or having children results in gaining everlasting life. Rather, it refers to the fact that a woman’s having children to tend to, along with the other aspects of caring for a household, may keep her from falling into a pattern of gossiping and meddling in others’ affairs. (1 Timothy 5:13) However, she may still face tribulations linked to marriage and family life.

This is a rare occasion that I disagree with Dr. Piper. I’ll briefly share my view and I am open to feedback and rebuttal from anyone who reads. The context is Paul instructing Timothy on how the church should be governed. Paul says women ought not to teach or hold authority over men and then he grounds that instruction in a doctrinal truth - the fall. He says it was the woman who was deceived first, not the man, and because of that women should not try to usurp authority and teach authoritatively in the church because when the roles God has designed for men and women to fill get reversed - deception occurs. Chaos occurs - in that God’s designed order is disturbed. Therefore, when Paul says a woman will be saved through childbearing, what I believe he means is that a woman will be protected (persevere in faithfulness - saved) by maintaining her God given role in life and in the church, namely, supporting her husband and raising her children to the glory of God. As is stated again in the verse Dr. Piper quoted in 1 Timothy 5. That makes most sense to me given the context. Though I’m sure it will not be a popular view to many.

I'm a christian home birth midwife. We use the gospel and God's grace to help us through childbirth without medication. I've had 1 medicated hospital birth and knew that wasn't for me. I went to have 5 unmedicated home births after that. (Yes 6 kids) I saved my birth to glorify God with. I believe that women and families need to turn birth back to God instead of the medical industrial complex. There's so much of idolizing and worship of that system. The money is all they care about. So no modern medicines intent was not to help the woman it was to keep her silent. She moans and yells in the hospital setting and the epidural was created to silence her. The first ever pharmaceutical invented by Merk was the epidural. The hospital complex comes in and causes so many issues and destruction of physiological birth process, create problems and then they claim to be the saviors of the very issues they created. I could go on amd on about how the system is a god but not the one I worship. If I needed emergency care that's wonderful and I respect it for that reason.

I agree with you. I’m on my husband’s KZbin this morning but I’m also a Christian birth worker and I love Pastor John but I feel this take on childbirth is inaccurate specifically because of the pain and torment that comes with hospital births. I gave birth to our first child unassisted and it was the most incredible, faith filled, spiritual birth with barely any pain. Contrary to that, the women I have worked with and spoken to who have birthed with all the help mentioned have had the most traumatic experiences. I feel like this video can be redone in a better way and I hope the topic is readdressed. I feel as “thru childbirth” is meant to be the raising of the child as well, the trials and tribulations that come with being a mother, and not about a base level of pain. This way of talking about birth only serves to glorify the hospital system and take away from the miracles that God performs in a undisturbed, physiological birth. This way of speaking only fear mongers. Again I love Pastor John but I feel when men talk about women’s issues like this without having a woman present, many things about our life experience can be misconstrued. Birth does NOT have to be painful, traumatic, scary, etc, and medical interventions such as episiotomies, epidurals, c sections, etc, do SO MUCH MORE HARM THAN GOOD!!!!!! THESE are actually what women are dying of !! The hospital will not save you- only Jesus saves and only Jesus can bring you through birth!

It is a sad fact that medical institutions are imposing so much suffering on healthy women who have been given the natural ability by God to deliver a child and to handle the birth well. We hear of stories of how some women give birth with little or no pain. Hospitals today make women assume a position for childbirth which is to the convenience of the doctors while women have to endure so much pain. There are positions used by women in the past that helps the baby to come out naturally with the help of gravity. If women are designed by God to give birth, shouldn’t they exercise their faith through prayer and trusting that God is indeed more powerful than the doctors or midwives? When there is faith, God is the one who helps to deliver the child.

Dear sister, I respectfully disagree. Having gone through one childbirth in the hospital, where I had an epidural and the doctor delivered my baby a second one in which I did not have a chance to have any medication even though I was at the hospital and my husband caught the baby and now going through a miscarriage, I think that modern medicine is truly a gift from God, although of course it can be used inappropriately at times. By all means, please follow your calling and assist women in the way that God leads you, but please don’t think that all of modern medicine is simply a conspiracy to turn women away from the walk of faith . Everyone has their own unique calling and everyone receives God‘s grace in a different way through different trials of life. There are certainly just as many doctors that are working to minister and be a blessing to women as there are those with evil intent. In the west, we do not simply understand what an enormous blessing and gift. It is to have access to modern medical care. This is something our grandmothers and mothers in other cultures that do not have these gifts by and large would just not understand. Cultures that do not have these gifts by enlarge would just not understand. Receive everything with joy and thankfulness to the Lord, And God gives us all wisdom to use his many gifts to please him.

Paul wrote this letter to Timothy. Timothy was a disciple of Paul. Timothy came out of Greek culture from his father, and Jewish culture from his mother. In Jewish culture you are Jewish “if” your mother is a Jew. When Paul wrote the Corinthians he taught that we should not be unequally yoke with unbelievers, but he does not say to divorce them over this. In Greek culture there are many goddesses taught to the women. In Jewish culture women could not even gain access to reading Torah for themselves and their greatest chance of even hearing what Scripture says was from preachers who could be off or their husbands, however as Jesus associate himself with both women and men, women were than allowed in church and Torah reading for the people who followed “the way,” or as we now say, Christians. Just see how valuable it is to be able to read scripture for yourself and learn the context surrounding them. We all have access to the words of Jesus himself and the many prophecies in what Jesus called the scripture, books like Isaiah, Deuteronomy, and while you might not like this, the book of Enoch that did not get canonized, yet Jesus referenced it when talking about marriage, and rebuke people for not knowing the scripture. Besides this early letter that got canonized as Biblical there are other letters on early church practice given to specific churches and people based on that churches needs that did not get canonized by the Catholic Church for us to currently call scripture. My favorite early church letter encourage specific times of weekly fasting before Sunset shabbat starting on Friday. But that letter of how a particular church need to do things was not added because Paul already made it clear it’s not about adding rules to rules and missing the point. But there’s nothing wrong with the letter because the letter was simply a local letter based on the needs of that local church. It didn’t contradict scripture by setting up an order, but it definitely wasn’t calling itself Scripture to be taken as such. Jesus said, “my sheep hear my voice.” But everything we hear from the Lord, especially about specifics in our own life or church, are not written down as scripture for all. Sampson had a call to never have his haircut, to never drink wine, and to never touch the dead. It didn’t contradict scripture on how to wash after dealing with the dead, or scripture on wine being very much so allowed in the very first miracle of Jesus, and haircuts are not a sin unless God specifically tells YOU not to cut your hair. There are some people who can’t handle even a glass of wine, for them they need to hear the instruction to not even drink, there’s some who are called to be set apart like Sampson was to be, that doesn’t mean God contradicts himself when some wisdom written into our Bible says take a little wine for your stomach. Jesus says my sheep hear my voice. We need to listen and obey God and as that verses written from the mouth of Jesus that goes into say we must follow him.

@@SRose-vp6ew These words Paul said to Timothy was a command from the Lord for the body of Christ, it wasn’t just a command to a specific church but a commandment to all churches.. And the reason why Paul gave for the commandment has nothing to do with being a Jew or a Gentile, he said because Eve was deceived not Adam, so it’s already a command God gave to the woman in Genesis 3:16 and Christ didn’t come to abolish it hence the reason why Paul said 1 Corinthians 14:37-38, that this command is from the Lord not my opinion neither is it based on your culture, it is a commandment from the Lord.. . Paul’s letters were never local and the commandments he gave from the Lord applies to all churches of God not just a local church based on their needs like you said.. . And please I’d like to see the verse you said Jesus cited the book of Enoch.. I’ve never heard nor seen that before.. why do you feel the book of Enoch should be canonized?

@@SRose-vp6ew that was a very wise answer you gave. It is difficult to break through the traditions of men. I've found this to be the case in my own life: constantly challenging church tradition by the commands of Christ. It is very difficult to convince Protestants that many of their traditions are traditions of Rome. (ie traditions of men) The words of Jesus himself are the measure. These are the plumb line by which all other words are tested and proved. His sheep hear his voice and follow him, and a stranger will they not follow but will flee from him for they know not the voice of a stranger.

Exact same word, variously translated. • the word "Name" there is singular • "have commanded" is past tense. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all GENTILES, baptizing them in the NAME of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I HAVE COMMANDED you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. This is a difficult verse to interpret. I think John Piper has probably interpreted it roughly along the right lines. But I think the reference to childbearing is more likely to be about the fulfillment of the role of mother than the pain of childbirth. And I think the 'through childbearing' is more likely to be about the circumstances of being a mother than to mean 'in spite of the pain of childbirth'.

@@Theranchhouse1 Here is the text of 1 Tim 2:15: 'But she will be saved through childbearing, if they continue in faith, love and holiness, with self-control.' Here is what I think is likely to be the right approach to interpreting this verse: In verses 12-14 Paul has just said what women SHOULD NOT do: teach and have authority over men. I think now in v. 15, so as not to leave things on a negative note for women, he says what they SHOULD do. Similarly, in v. 14 Paul has just referred to a woman, Eve, sinning. So now in v. 15, again so as not to leave things on a negative note for women, he talks about women being SAVED from sin. Most Christian women are mothers, so Paul thinks of a typical Christian mother and says that she will be saved 'through childbearing', meaning that she will be saved as she fulfills her role as a mother. I think Paul is thinking of final salvation after death or the return of the Lord. Paul doesn't mean that her good deeds as a mother will save her. But saving faith is always accompanied by good deeds, so Paul is referring to the circumstances in which a typical Christian woman will work out her salvation (Phil 2:12). Paul started the verse with a singular pronoun, 'she', referring to a typical Christian woman. However, in mid-sentence he changes to the plural 'they', because he shifts to thinking about Christian women as a group. This is just a stylistic change. Basically, Paul is saying that Christian mothers will continue down the road to receiving their place in heaven as they are good mothers and live lives of faith, love, holiness and self-control.

Men are only designed to have sexual relations and impregnate the women because their God given role is to labour outside to provide for their family. Women are designed to receive the seed of the men and go through pregnancy and childbirth. The process of going through pregnancy is something that only women are able to go through. From carrying the developing child in her womb to feeling all the little movements of the child, from being the provider of nourishment for her child both while in the womb as well as after childbirth and even having to endure the pain of childbirth. While society calls it a curse upon women, many have gone through the rite of passage to bring children into this world just as how God had designed the life of a woman. The pain of childbirth is pain with a purpose; a woman endured it and the end result is being able to carry her child at her breast. And as Christians, are we not taught to trust God and have faith? A woman could actually entrust her birth to the Lord for just as children are a gift of God, so is God the deliverer of the child.

It seems to me that the context of 1 Timothy 2:8-15 is responding to the salvation that we have been given by grace through faith in Jesus by worshiping him as men and women embracing and serving in the roles that we have been given. Paul's particular focus is how our faithful obedience is lived out during corporate worship meetings, wherein men generally (and some men who are chosen and gifted by God to occupy certain positions) lead in offices of authority over the women according to the headship and submission roles that God established when he first created man and woman. Women may he tempted to try to rebel against or usurp the men in leadership for whatever reason, so Paul urges them not to do that because just as Adam had authority over his wife, men have authority over women (according to the appropriate application within relationships) and we see how it worked out the first time when Eve rebelled against the order assigned by God which resulted in sin being brought into the world. Therefore, since men are the leaders and it is through worshiping God by embracing and serving in their roles that they will be saved (could mean that this is how they are sanctified or how they prove that they are saved) then women should focus on the roles given to them and grow in sanctification by embracing and serving in them. The main roles given to women are to be a wife and mother in partnership with and in submission to their husband under the Lord Jesus. Women are not sanctified nor prove to be saved by rebelling against God and trying to lead over men but thet are sanctified through obedience in serving as a wife and mother should God call them to that. Single women and married but childless women are sanctified through obeying the Lord and submitting to men appropriately in others way that they are called.

God is not mad at people who genuinely do not have the desire to have children. Don't force yourself to get married, have sex, have children because you think God is forcing you to. It wouldn't be genuine and you wouldn't be happy. It's beautiful for those who genuinely want it, but some people are willingly called to a life of singleness. Notably those people want that calling and aren't forced into it. I don't know what you want, so I can't say, only you and God know that. There are many ways to serve God.

No, John, the Greek word is "en" in not "dia" through. How about she shall be "VALIDATED" for Greek "sozo" in childbirth as a noble alternative to taking a pastoral leadership position over males? Try "validated" for other NT conundrums where "sozo" was the only linguistically available word in Koine.

Ok, what’s your own interpretation according to your own understanding of the Greek word used in the text ?
@maxaplin4204
@maxaplin4204 Жыл бұрын
Firstly, the Greek preposition in 1 Tim 2:15 is dia, not en: Sothesetai [she will be saved] de [but; translated first in the sentence in an English translation] dia [through] tes [not translated] teknogonias [childbearing] . . . English translation: 'But she will be saved through childbearing . . .' Secondly, sozo doesn't mean 'validate'. It means 'save', 'keep from harm', 'preserve', 'rescue'. Thirdly, it is a mistake to think that a first century author writing in Koine Greek would have had to resort to sozo because there was no other Greek word that meant 'validate'. Even if there wasn't a Koine Greek word that meant precisely what the English 'validate' means, there were certainly some Greek words that were much closer to 'validate' than sozo. For example, one of the meanings of the Greek verb dokimazo is 'approve' (e.g., in 1 Thess 2:4), which is much closer to 'validate' than anything sozo means. So too is one meaning of sunistemi (e.g., in Rom 3:5).

@maxaplin4204
@maxaplin4204 Жыл бұрын
@@brandedforchrist This is a difficult verse to interpret. I am not completely certain about how to interpret it, but I think I have a good idea. I see it along similar lines to John Piper, although not exactly the same. Firstly, there is a debate about whether 'she' at the beginning of the verse refers to Eve or a typical Christian woman. I believe strongly that it refers to a typical Christian woman (as Piper does). Secondly, there is a debate about whether the being saved in this verse refers to being saved from sin or being saved from death caused by childbirth. I think it is about being saved from sin (as Piper does). Thirdly, there is debate about what 'through childbearing' means. Piper thinks this is about being saved despite the pain of childbearing. I think that is unlikely. I think it is more probably about fulfilling the role of a mother. So I think in this verse Paul, after saying shortly before that a woman should not teach or have authority over a man, is saying that Christian women will receive final salvation by fulfilling their Christian duty in motherhood. Of course, not every woman has children, but most do, and Paul is just talking about a typical scenario for how a Christian woman will live out her Christian faith: as a mother. Importantly, when Paul says that Christian women will receive final salvation by fulfilling their Christian duty, he isn't saying that they are saved by doing good deeds. In the New Testament saving faith is always accompanied by good deeds, so Paul is just focusing on these accompanying good deeds of Christian mothers here. That's about the best I can do.

WRONG! John is a good teacher. But in this he is wrong. Motherhood (childbearing) is one of the most beautiful and divine things that God has given to women. But John turns it into something ugly and black and painful. The context is that God has forbidden the teaching ministry to the woman (v. 11-14), but instead has given her the beautiful role of Mother. Paul speaks positively about Motherhood also in 5:14. John, why do you turn white into black, sweet into sour? You speak in this episode as if you were a secular woke-person.

I agree. This episode made me very sad. This is NOT the reality that God has given us with birth. Birth is holy, sacred, and an incredible rite of passage that women go through that brings us closer to God. This viewpoint from Pastor John is very disheartening.

Due to your misrepresentation of John's words in this regard, I would strongly recommend that you listen to the episode a second time. Not at all has John turned childbearing into something "ugly and black," as you claim; Albeit painful, because that is what he demonstrates by directly referring to God's curse on the woman as a consequence of her disobedience in Genesis 3:16, where God said, "I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children." And agin: John does not "turn white into black, sweet into sour" and most definately not does he sound like "a secular woke-person." What a strange accusation to make 😮

@@j.j.9767 OK, I did obey you. I listen to the episode again. Perhaps I had misunderstood something. But NO. I Just became more angry and sad. The subject for this episode is 1 Tim 2:15. And instead of a contextual analysis, John run away from the text to Henry Alford and to 1 Cor 3:15, and from there to Gen 3:16. And the result of that strange running is John saying repeatedly that "childbearing being part of Gods curse". Yes, Gen 3:16 say that, but not 1 Tim 2:15. In 1 Tim 2:15 childbearing is something positive, because it says "Yet, she will be saved through childbearing". SAVED. So why transform this positive statement from Paul to something ugly and black - the saving Motherhood a CURSE?! What? (And no, he's strange analysis of "through" is not exegetically valid.) I think that John came lost because he think to literal and narrow of the word "childbearing". If he would understand it as Motherhood and all what is included in that word, he would not have err so strongly. I love John. But I don't think he is God. He is a human. With flesh and blood. A human who sometimes err, as we all do. And in this episode unfortunately he did that. He ended up unintentionally as an ordinary secular person who disrespect the Godly given Motherhood, which is the greatest gift God has given to the women.
