Unit per distance might help you with the initial purchase in knowing the savings, but in daily life, distance per unit is way more helpful in my opinion. If you're running low on gas, it's super easy to look at how much you have, and estimate how far you can get on it. I know when my gas light comes on, I still have about 3 gallons left, which I know means I can get another 50-60 miles if I don't drive aggressively. That math is a lot easier to do (and a lot faster in the momentary panic of "Oh no, I'm low on gas!"), rather than "Okay, I have 3 gallons left, and I get 5 gallons per 100 miles, so that's 60% of 100 miles, which means I could get up to 60 more miles." I realize it's pretty much the same thing, but I'd rather know how far I can get on a given amount of fuel than how much fuel it's gonna take to go a given distance.

Just found this I have 2021 ecodiesel limited and upgraded from 2015 ecodiesel deleted. Best option is the 33 gallon tank and I cruise at 90kmph my truck has the higher gears and can pull 36mpg if I'm not pushing big head wins. My dash will say 1400 km and 1700 km when I fill up. I have to add this. Love the show and how you do the real world testing. I know y’all have said that Ford is mad about the information you put out about the Bronco, but it is also because of the real world testing too. This shows that Ford just isn’t as good as the other two, plus Toyota is about to become more relevant in this segment with the new Tundra.

Problem is, all we ever hear about Tundra since it came out, is “it’ll be more relevant.” And it absolutely has never happened, nor will it. It’s got its little niche and that’s it, it will never expand to the rest of the full size pickup market. It just won’t. Toyota owns the small pickup segment and the tundra is merely a slightly bigger truck option that can tow a little bit more than Tacoma and still maintain customers.

Crunchy Black suppose to be mid to late 2021. At first it was suppose to be released in September or October of this year, but it has been said that they have had a few setbacks in testing. One site has said they are dropping the V8 for a twin turbo V6. I don’t see this happening because of the newer V8 Lexus has come out with. We know The Tundras biggest issue is fuel mileage. It’s sucks!

I like f150s but once you go diesel you never go back. Honestly just bought it cause it looks cool and I idle it alot/drive alot so mileage isnt a big issue with diesel and with gas after 200k miles you start to have more trouble selling it without a huge depreciation hit

Hey guys, I’m a part time farmer, industrialist so we only own 4x4 or AWD or at least a “ Bakkie”, that’s local slang for pickup.i hail from South Africa. i am currently running a Mazda BT 50 which is basically a T6 Ford Ranger with the big 3.2 5 cylinder and now I have to say it seems we are far behind because these pickups only put out 147 kw and 450 nm. Which is poor compared to the Rams 193kw and 650nm. I have to say even for such a big rig that ram impressed me with the 9.6ltr/100km. I only get that on a good day. In similar conditions to yours however I can only get it down to about 8.8/100. I just wanted to say I’m super impressed with the ram. How much can it load and tow? The Mazda can carry 1300kg and tow 3500kg. I have loaded it a few times that far. Nice thing about diesels is that even when working hard they drink a lot less than petrol and they always feel strong

I also sent you an email about the rear shocks on your truck, but it looks like you have the air suspension. My Rebel Hemi on the hwy is about 20 mpg depending on driving style, but gas is also about 65 cents cheaper than diesel. $47.25 per tank gas vs $63.75 for 25 gallons or 16.50 more per fill up. 5 gallons per 100 miles vs 4.08 gallons per 100 miles diesel or a difference of .92 gallons per 100 miles. $9.45 for 5 gallons to go 100 miles vs $10.40 for 4.08 gallons to go 100 miles. Plus add the cost of DEF and it will cost less for the gas engine on the highway, but city driving is all together a different story. City for me is 13.5 MPG or 7.41 gallons per 100 miles which would cost $14.00 per 100 miles. Not sure what the diesel gets for the city.

Ok…. If I had a car that got 1mpg then upgraded to a car that gets 2 I just saved 5000 gallons. As mpg increase the number of gallons used decrease and vis versa. It’s simple math. Personally when I look at a vehicles fuel economy what I’m thinking is how far I can go without having to fuel up. And MPG is far easier to calculate. 24galX25mpg gives me 600 miles of range. Doesn’t get easier than that.

@Jeffreypark
@Jeffreypark 4 жыл бұрын
How is it flawed? The way you look at and interpret data can be flawed, but 2mpg vs 3mpg is just data. MPG data is useful for when you want to estimate how far you can drive when you buy fuel. Which is much more useful in every day life. If you only know the gallons/100 miles, that makes it more difficult to quickly estimate. EG, if you're getting 50gallons/100miles, how much fuel will you need to go 40 miles? 50/100 = x/40. 100x= 2000. Divide 2000 by 100 = 20 gallons. vs 2X = 40. X = 40/2. X = 20 gallons MPG is a more practical data point because you want to know how far you can go on a tank of gas more often than how much fuel you will burn per 100 km/miles.

Since you have a finite amount of fuel, it is best to know how far you can go per unit. The reason Europe did it reverse is you can walk to the market. In much of North America. the curve of the earth hides the market from view, even with a telescope. Nice to know if you have enough fuel to make it there and back.

Considering it's a Rebel (no air dam and heavy Duratrac tires) and the fact that you were 120km/h on the highway, it's a really good number ! A Big Horn Ram with fuel efficient tires would have gotten at least 10-12% better efficiency still ! I get 11l/100km at 120km/h with the 2.7 Ecoboost F150 XLT and it's got the air dam and fuel efficient Goodyear Fortitude tires...without the air dam and with Duratrac tires I'd be up to 12.5 at least...

The gallons per mile thing is back asswords. I know if I put in 10 gallons of fuel in my truck, I get 10 mpg, I'm able to travel 100 miles. Simple. People drive in cars, we travel over distance, our brains are wired to think that way. 1 unit of this will get me 10 miles is easier to comprehend than 10 miles will require 1 unit of this. We are at point A, needing to get to point B. The GPM way you need to be at point B and work backwards. At least for me anyway.

leadnsteel I don’t have the GM or Dodge half ton diesel so I can’t personally say. But I do have friends the have them. And they all say the same thing. They get about 4,000 to 5,000 miles on their DEF. We have 1 Ford 1/2 Ton Diesel at work we are trying out but to early to tell anything. Whatever it is your doing to get 20,000 k out of DEF you may be on to something. I’d be marketing that and selling it to all manufacturers and making some serious money.

l/100 km may be a little bit more convenient in calculations but MPG is a much more sensitive scale. I live in Russia, we use l/100 km and I know people always give rounded numbers. Nobody really takes into account the full number like 7.3 l/100 km, everyone rounds it to 7.5 - or even worse - to 7. If you use MPG you know the much more exact number and if you do serious calculations, especialy when you make buying decision where all you can get is the official rating (not some real world testing with your own driving style) - I think MPG's sensitivity is what you really need.

That doesn't make any sense, liters is much smaller increments and is more accurate, if they don't count .5 in your country it's them not counting it has nothing to do with liters count. In liters you can even to grams if you want so it is actually more accurate and straightforward, not counting is a different issue
@ldmtag
@ldmtag 4 жыл бұрын
@@TigerKurdish any units are accurate if you count all the characters after the comma. If we say mpg or l/100 km are inaccurate we actually mean people's laziness. If the car consumes like 8 to 9 l/100km the number has a pretty big chance to be rounded to either 8 or 9 or with much smaller chance to 8.5. In MPGs its a pretty significant difference of 35 vs 31. Besides, the MPG scale is more accurate when it's actually needed - in high efficiency range. If yor car consumes over let's say 20 l/100 km you're probably a rich ass with a big SUV or a N/A sportscar and you doesn't care wether it's 20 l/100 km or 40, or 60... if you really care about the efficiency, the ecology, etc., you'd appreciate the difference as small as 50 to 51 MPG. Oh, and there's one more thing. It's much more natural when greater number means better. MPGs are designed that way while l/100 km are not.

Miles per gallon makes more sense because you can say I need to go 90 miles so I’ll put 5 gallons in. It’s easier to multiply than it is to divide. Who cares about how much you spend per year off the top of your head? A phone calculator is so easy to use if you want. Or just check my spreadsheet and see what my total cost of ownership is... because stats! GPM actually means gallons per minute. I’m seriously considering the quality of education people in Canadia receive. And I say Canadia ironically. Canadia! F*%# yeah! Going to save the mother f*%#ing day yeah! Canadia!
