@nerigarcia71163 ай бұрын
That's incredible, Matt absolutely smashed it. I didn't think the difference would be that much especially with 2 riders. It's no wonder pros can climb mountains at the speeds I ride flats, sustaining that power is ridiculous. You have to bring Si into this for 3 v 1, but still I think it'll only decrease the time gap, not beat it.

@thegearboxman3 ай бұрын
And do you now understand why aero makes 2 parts of bugger all difference at the speeds most of us ride?
@hananas23 ай бұрын
@@thegearboxman it's not that aero doesn't matter at mortal people speeds, the tiny little marginal gains don't matter. I noticed a big difference between a regular t-shirt and shorts and close-fitting clothing, but stuff like aero wheels, aero bike etc only matter if you're really fast and want every little bit of speed you can buy.
@mulinanr2 ай бұрын
@@thegearboxman if you ride 30kph and you have head wind of 15kph, then you have combined wind force equal to the wind tunnel's 45kph. So wind tunnel measurments are very representative at our speeds. Imagine how much you are gonna get done, with all the areo time that you saved up.
@thegearboxman2 ай бұрын
@@mulinanr How many recreational cyclists are capable of maintaining 30km/h against a 15km/h headwind? I would suggest very few as it would require something in the order of 250W+. According to Garmin, the *average* (median) cycling speed is just 25km/h. I live in a very hilly part of the country and it takes an exceptional cyclist to average 30, most guys are in the order of 23-25 average.
