Your right, there are limits in place in the factory programing on the ECU of the Triumph Rocket 3. I picked up a 2021 Rocket 3GT last month, and if you do your research via the forums, you'll stumble across new ECU maps and methods to which you'll be able to reprogram the bike. The new ECU maps will remote the power limiters on the first three gears, and likely the top end, although I don't have a need to do over 130MPH on any of my rides, for purposes of testing, this bike can absolutely go much fast than 130. Needless to say, this bike is not short on power, anywhere.

I test rode the lastest gen Rocket three in Thailand. Top end is limited but still more than any sensible rider would need. The lowering of the centre of gravity has improved the agility and handling no end. My ride took me into the twisting mountain roads of Northern Thailand, I was impressed. The thing that won me was the effortless highway cruising , the smoothness and enough torque to pull a house down.

I'm very jealous of the track width, length and how smooth it appears. I do land speed racing at the Bonneville Salt Flats which is well known for the many records set there. However, salt has less grip and generally not as smooth as even rough pavement. The surface changes from being like wet sand to being hard enough to leave rubber tire marks down. Two of the biggest drawbacks are the density of altitude (5000 to 7200 feet) and the lack of tire adhesion. I'll be running a modified first gen Rocket 3 in August with almost no stream lining, I just hope I can hang on.

Another big disappointment was the ninja h2, the speedo and the actual vbox gps both didn't go above 299 and the bike had an incredible about of punch still left. The only surprise was the 2021 hayabusa , the speedo was of course only limited to 299 ( analogue ) but the bloc kept climbing until it reached 302 kmph true speeds. I am not a cruiser guy but the Rocket3r is an amazing bike to ride. I have burnt the clutch plates of bikes like the Indian roadmaster but the rocket 3r can take an amazing amount of hard riding ( I took it to a race track and did 10000 kms around india in one go). Hanging on to a bare bike at 146 mph (236kph) is for the strong and determined. My later FJ1200 (faired) would do 130mph all day long in comfort, with very little effort; a 60kg weed could do that easily. I'd love an R3R, but I'm now old and weedy, so missed my chance. @@kasperkjrsgaard1447 That may be true for a factory stock engine with standard exhaust system. Mine had some engine mods, too long a list to go into here. It also had a Pipeline 4 into 1 exhaust fitted, plus suspension front and rear mods. The speedo on that model went to 260kmh, with one more line after that. All I can say is it went to that line past the 260. It wasn't done under controlled conditions, on a racetrack, or with a radar gun.(thankfully). All I can tell you is my experience. I'm not out to bignote or brag, or anything like that. I haven't read any articles regarding that bike, I just rode it and modified it to my specs. So you may well be correct in saying the top speed is 240kmh, all I can say is what I saw on the speedo. Those days are long gone, I've had two knee replacements since, and have been riding only Harley's since '91. I needed to keep my licence for my work as a truck driver. I CAN tell you unequivocally that my Harley won't do 270. Or 240. Haven't tried.
@jonm72722 жыл бұрын
@@johnlucier5654 Your FJ1100 did nowhere near 160mph. You may be confusing speedo indicated (and I doubt very much it would even indicate 160 mph anyway) and actual speed. Standard FJ1100, maybe 140 mph (and that's pretty optimistic). 160, not a fkn chance. My CBR1100XX will indicate 180mph+ no problem but GPS says more like 165 mph. Speeds will be typically reading around 10% high, so your indicated 160 would be more like 144 (and I'd need to see that to believe it).
@wolfsimon91382 жыл бұрын
Burzy: check your list of modification for the "front wheel". Any change there (wheel, tire) may cause the mismatched Speedo. Maybe even the modified Speedo had a wrong gear ratio. Very common error with aftermarket speedos of that time.

All that build up for a feeble 236kph?! I've done 20 better just on a Sunday afternoon ride around Auckland City mate. And I've never heard of kmph FFS. Is there a electronic speed limiter that needs disabling on this beautiful piece of engineering?

I had a 2003 GSXR 1000 that routinely did 150 mph and on occasion 170 mph in a very short stretch... that's 250 - 275 kph.... that was on the street... there was an on ramp to a dual lane that was slightly downhill and it was about 1500 ft to the off ramp to my house. Bought the 1700 VMax in as new bike in 2017, 30.000 km (roughly 20.000 mls) meanwhile. Never had problems with ANY of my bikes except for the 1975 Suzuki GT500 every now and then. Also my girls never caused problems. So...

Because you’re cheap and tasteless 😎 jk Can’t speak for the rocket but I have 2 triumphs, a 96 sprint900 and a 08 sprint1050 and they both have never had any issues ever. The engines are bulletproof. Amazing bikes. Only problem is that they’re upwards of double the price of the competition. It’s worth it though. Every penny. You get what you pay for. Yamahas are notorious for premature engine wear and damage.
