"I was making videos, not BUILDING an audience". This is so insightful.

Derel Thanks for all your videos, but last a few months something is going on with youtube algorithm , views dropped around 30% which makes no sense , i had more views 12 months ago than now with 150,000 more subs and much better content , which makes no sense ! Whats your opinion

@@tlcasey One thing Derral, Mr Beast, and other top creators all say is whenever you’re tempted to say “the algorithm” replace it with, “the audience.” The algorithm is built to find the best audience so it’s possible your audience is less interested in your most recent videos. For me personally, my current channel performance changes a ton during the winter months, so seasonality could also be a contributor. Keep your head up! Congrats on having the guts to create a channel; most don’t. But, set a goal to create 30-50 videos before you really get too concerned with the analytics and what is “performing. Part of the journey is testing what works and what doesn’t and you can never know what works and what doesn’t if you don’t give yourself permission to test. Permission to “fail.” But, the only “failure” in KZbin is not trying. In Derral’s book, Mr Beast writes in the foreword that your hundredth video will be so different than your first video, and I can’t believe how true that is. A big part of my process thus far has been trying to figure out balance on KZbin. I work full time and am a single momma, so finding the time was difficult. Initially I wasn’t planning, sat down and recorded me rambling so editing would take hours to shape it into a story. It wasn’t sustainable. But, I’ve kept at it and I finally feel like I’ve found a great system. But, it’s required testing a lot of systems that have not been great. My point is, you’re doing so great. Keep your head up, keep trying. Watch every one of Derral’s videos and then keep TRYING! You got this! 👊

Loved this! Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦 I would love to know what resources you would recommend on how to craft stories in your videos? We would love to take our 36000 subscriber channel to the next level in 2023 so any advice would be appreciated. Derral, I’ve been trying to get my hands on a copy of your book but struggling to get it shipped to South Africa. Any ideas?

I feel catering to your audience assumes you already have an actively engaged audience. This feels like a Catch-22. How do you grow your channel and audience when you have very few viewers and hardly any comments?
@patflynn Жыл бұрын
Audiences are everywhere: on other channels, having conversations on social media, in groups, etc. You can join these places and see exactly the conversations they are having right now. Get to know them, engage there, and you'll learn exactly what kinds of videos you can create that have a chance of resonating with them. This is exactly what I did when I joined the Pokemon community first before creating my channel.
