Sadly, some of the move removals gutted others. Return screwed over physical Normal types like Kangaskhan, Snorlax, and most of the regional birds. Hidden Power screwed over every Pokemon with bad coverage. And worst of all, Pursuit's removal gutted Tyranitar so hard that it fell out of OU for the first time ever.
@WingedFish663 жыл бұрын
@@Skeloperch "Movexit" was arguably even stupider than Dexit. Dexit was sadly inevitable (though they could've handled it literally any other way and it would've gone over better with fans), but the mass deletion of a bunch of standard moves that have been around for decades is mind-bogglingly idiotic and needlessly screwed over so many mons. Hidden Power alone invalidated most Electric types because that was the only semblance of coverage they had
@butteredsalmonella3 жыл бұрын

It seems that I'm the only one that loved the Movexit. Seriously, how did Pursuit never get banned? This move didn't allow the most important feature of Pokemon: the switch. And Hidden Power sucked too for allowing bizarre covers, although not being OP like Pursuit (but imagine Regielek with Hidden Power Ice). Most importantly, having the correct HD in-game causing 70 damage is so difficult to achieve. I know I know, this is an unpopular opinion, so feel free to disagree.
@akashsil99943 жыл бұрын
@@Tungdil_01 I half agree with MovExit. Return and Frustration didn't need to go as no one but normal types used them (or those with abilities like Aerialate). Pursuit... I'm a bit mixed. Because it went from keeping Ghosts in check to allowing them to run rampant. And Hidden Power allowed a lot of mons to have the perfect coverage they needed. If, like you said, something like a Regieleki had HP Ice or something already broken like Spectrier had HP Fighting, well...let your imaginations run wild 😅.

I do like the idea of a Pokemon gaining buffs from a typing it doesn't have, but it's a shame it doesn't work out all that often. Heck, I thought the effectively triple-stab Dhelmise was going places at one point.
@captain_buggles3 жыл бұрын
What I would do for Beartic right off the bat in Gen 5: -10 every stat except Speed and Attack, leaving you with 40 points. Put 20 into Attack and 20 into Speed. Give it Ice Shard, and also Slack Off to help compensate for worse bulk. The 20 point Gen 7 boost then still happens, but this time it gets +10 Speed and +10 HP, ultimately leaving it at 95/130/70/60/70/80 At this point I also give it Fur Coat instead of Snow Cloak (or Fluffy, if you think Fur Coat is too generous, since it still shouldn't be staying in on Fire-type moves anyway), because nobody likes Snow Cloak anyway, and Fur Coat/Fluffy were huge wasted opportunities to buff a few mons, and instead they decided to make them exclusive.
@BeeEmpress3 жыл бұрын
Slack off doesn’t compensate for its poor bulk since then you just leave yourself more vulnerable to your opponent than just killing them
@captain_buggles3 жыл бұрын
@@BeeEmpress It's situational, but not useless. Not every matchup is going to be something that can kill it right away, and not every Pokemon can safely switch in during the Slack Off turn either, especially not with moderately increased speed and Ice Shard access. I also wasn't going for a "perfect" Pokemon. I wanted to improve it without overly sacrificing the "feel" of the Pokemon, or giving it such a gigantic buff that it doesn't match the effort it takes to get and train one.

Beartic's initial placements in un-tiered was, needless to say, unbearable. But thankfully, with Generation VIII, Beartic can be cool again.

Pure ice type with low speed and no ice shard? Yeahhhhhhh, that's a recipe for disaster. I'm surprised it did as well as it has in gen 8, an extra 10 speed and a bit of extra bulk would go a long way in making it as threatening as it looks.
