The man was a legend. Especially considering how old he was when he started his MMA career. If you include his K-1 career his record suddenly becomes much more impressive. Keep in mind that he started his MMA career at age 30 and went straight into the best heavy weight division at the time and quite possibly ever. Fedor, Big Nog, Crocop, and Josh Barnett to name a few. Mpst fighters start their career with about 10 fights at a lower level to prove themselves and get used to MMA. He didn't get that at all. Plus, gotta give props to the only man I've seen outfighting Fedor in his prime. He lost because Fedor always finds a way but had that fight ended at 8 minutes and went to the judges Mark would've walked out with the belt. Not one in that legendary division can say I stepped into the ring with Fedor and outfought him for 8 Minutes.

This is what I’m supposed to be doing and if I die fighting, that’s fine. I just hope that if it does happen, it will be in an honest and fair competition… My body is f**ked but my mind is still here. I’ve still got my senses about me and I know what’s right and wrong, which is the main thing. Sometimes I don’t sleep well. You can hear me starting to stutter and slur my words. My memory is not that good anymore. I’ll forget something I did yesterday but I can remember the s**t I did years and years ago. That’s just the price I’ve paid - the price of being a fighter. Mark hunt one of the best mma heavyweights of all time, he was clean all his career, he always fought cheaters that that took steroids and other performance enhanced drugs, from K1 - pride - ufc, he definitely would of been a champion in pride & ufc if his opponents were clean an not on the juice. I can definitely see him as a UFC Champion, but for as long as Fedor was the Pride Heavyweight Champion I just don't think Mark could beat him. Now its questionable whether or not Fedor was on steroids since he never tested positive and he peaked and declined pretty early in his career. Its entirely plausible he was on PED's as it was encouraged in Pride, but even without them I just think Fedor was that good. Not to take anything away from Mark Hunt of course, he's underrated as hell and his record on the face of it doesn't tell the full story.

It's actually a disgrace how many fighters he fought in UFC who were absolutely juicing. I used to think he was a little too vocal about Dana/UFC and the corruption, but seeing this compilation makes it seem extremely valid. I was at his victory against Lewis in Auckland, and honestly the atmosphere was truly remarkable when he won that fight. It also helped that Hooker had just knocked out Pearson with that mouthguard ejecting knee, so we were all already hype as hell.

Hunt was a fighter where the losses didnt matter. If he was fighting I always wanted to see it. It could be a loss but it had an equal chance of being one of the greatest fights of all time. I would've loved to have seen a K1 fight between him and Gokhan saki.

What is most fascinating about Mark Hunt is the fact that he shocked the world twice. At first when he won K1 Grand Prix in 2001, where he wasn't even supposed to be. He lost to Sefo in classic war but got a wild card because Sefo got injured during the fight. Then he stepped in the tournament picking as his first opponent one of the favorites of the tournament Le Banner just to shock the world and knocked him out cold in the second. Later on, he had another 2 absolute classic wars with Le Banner. As an underdog, he won K1 Grand Prix and stepped in MMA which was nothing but a hard transition. Then he started with UFC because he refused to take the money to end his fighting contract just to become Top contender and 11 years after his probably the most brutal war in 2002 with Le Banner in Semi-Final K1 Grand Prix he delivered one of the most iconic heavyweights wars with Bigfoot. He was the oldest active fighter in UFC at the time and still pushing hard. An absolute legend who spent 20 years squaring off with the best competition out there. Maybe not the best-padded record, but an absolute legend to the sport. Definitely one of my all-time favorites. Mark Hunt was a dog with dynamite in his hands. True Cinderella man! PS: The Struve knockout is one of the most iconic in UFC!

Mark Hunt is absolutely one of the toughest men in the world.... in the prime of his career in K-1 and in the early part of his career with Pride, he was the best heavyweight in the world, in the UFC, he was in his twilight fighting a bunch of cheaters on steroids and still managed at least 3 significant wins. Mark has and always will be one of my favorite kick boxers ever. On the subject of kick boxing, would love to see a video on Changpuek Kiatsongrit.

It is disgusting how Dana, knowing most of his fighters were juice-babies, just exploited the crap out of them.... he is one cold-blooded dude. Mark was right in calling it out. The worst was Brock Lesnar, I mean these guys wouldnt have a chance against Mark if they were off the gear. F'ken disgraceful. No wonder most fighters end up walking away from the UFC, its just too much. As for Mark, well he fought literally EVERYONE. He was a K1 champion before even setting foot in MMA. He fought CroCop twice, Fedor, Le Banner, Yoost, Frank Mir, Overeem, Verdun, actually all the Brazilians... I mean, he just fought everyone there was to fight, often at short notice, and always took the fight to them, win or lose. A true champion in my book.

Mark hunt is a prime example that fighting the toughest fights fairly makes you much more respected than any undefeated or barely defeated fighter.
