The idea about “do step one of each task category” is quite honestly the most brilliant and useful tip I have heard in a long time.

New sub here. I just wanted to comment to let you know that you have impacted my life so much and I'm TRULY GRATEFUL for you. You have explained yourself so well. I get it. I hear it. I am going to carry this with me always. I know KZbin has a lot of butt kissing I am not trying to do that. I have been trying to get myself together over the last 10 years. I would get so far and get stuck there. Thank you so much because you will never know just how much you've helped me to make the biggest changes thus far in my life.

I agree! I thought I was pretty organized but am a huge procrastinator (ENFJ here!), and a lot of Alexis’s tips for planning and visualization have made a huge impact.

I'm an INTJ. I did try this for a while and then I got away from it. I think I should try it again. Those shorter work periods gave structure and deadlines. I like how you expanded it to weeks and months. I didn't think of it before. My breaks were actually micro workouts. So I was doing weightlifting, core work, stretches, and mobility work for those micro workouts. I found myself more productive with that as well. I didn't have to do nothing while resting because I was resting for 25 minutes between micro workouts. So my Se was doing the breaks and my Ni was going for 25 minutes with Te overseeing things all the time.

Fellow INTJ 5 female here. I find that applying a project management/project lifecycle cadence is the key for my daily productivity as well. Like you, I also Zoom out and apply that at a weekly and quarterly level too. In David Kiersey's Please Understand Me II, he talks about each temperament's relationship with time. Specifically, he says the SP's are most focused on Now/Present, SJ's on Yesterday/History, NF's on Tomorrow/Possibilities, and the NT's are most focused on Intervals. Makes tons of sense for me. I share your love of templates and repetitive interations to optimize my personal systems.

Super interesting. I recently watched a video that advised against Pomodoro precisely because it potentially breaks you out of that deep focus, or causes you to trudge on with sub-optimal focus levels, but I think your idea of fighting against perfection is a strong point to consider. To briefly mention type (I'm not sure if you're okay with discussing MBTI in these videos, do let me know), I'm an ISFP, so I naturally repress Te's tendency of producing results, and my Fi is constantly working on the Se precise details towards perfection, but my recent mantra has been Winston Churchill's quote "Perfection is the enemy of progress". That's why I've been using the Pomodoro for the last two or three months, and it has definitely helped me to Te my way towards my Ni-created visions.

I really enjoyed this video and will have to try the pomodoro method again. I missed the name of the person you credited with the setup method or process that you follow each night. Could you tell me who it is and if there is a book or website with more information?
