Im not ready to give up on mine. Which gaskets did you buy?
@MyLameAnimations

It was the ACE Hardware part # 4069522. It was a big improvement, but I couldn't get mine to stop leaking completely. You might want to also use food-safe silicone calk to make sure it seals completely.

@@MyLameAnimations Great thank you for the reply! Yeah Ill try "gluing" the gasket in place with food-grade sealant.

Had a Bunn home brewer 15-20 years ago...same leaking issue. Replaced gasket too.. worked ok. Same liming crud inside from city tap water. Have had my Bunn A10 11 years now but used RO water no issues...inside water reservoir looks great! It's the water.

My dad was a ‘mcgyver’ & fixed anything with a shoestring & a hammer🤣 .. when you said ‘hit it with a hammer’ it was over! I was ROFLMBO 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you ..😘 He passed away but you brought back some great memories! Thanx

I have the same issue but I put an O-Ring between the gasket and the plastic reservoir and tightened those screws down to really smash the O-Ring. It worked! No more leaking.

I have been getting Bunns for over 20 years. They are being made cheaper and cheaper, and develop the "leak" after like 3 years anymore (usually right after the warranty ends). I haven't seen one less than $120 in many years now. Instead of blowing $120 plus tax every 3 years, I'm a gonna just get a French press coffee maker and heat the water on stovetop in a pan.

I had exact same coffee maker and problem. I love your tap it with a hammer solution! Didn't try that, but I did buy a new Bunn.

You are supposed to clean the coffeemaker by running vinegar / water solution through it every 2 - 3 months (I let it sit in there) and then I rinse it all out with several decanters fulls of plain water. That is supposed to get rid of that crud.

I have had a Bunn Coffee makers since 1976. I average about 10+ years out of each. I had the leaking problem on all of them. Bunn used to sell replacement gaskets for them, but has since stopped because of liability issues. The design heats the gasket so it is prone to failure. The last one of mine that leaked I just got rid of it beacuse I didnt want to risk anything happening. But $110 over a 10 year use is a good return on investment.

I love my Bunn, but it now costs considerably more than $59.00 I just cleaned mine for the first time. It runs really well now.

I'm glad yours is running well. I agree with you about the price. I think I paid about $120 for my first Bunn coffee maker. When I was making the video showing myself trying to fix it, my wife looked online and saw that Walmart had pretty much an identical machine for only $59. (It was around Christmas time, so probably a special price.) After replacing the gasket, it still leaked slightly. For me, replacing the whole machine seemed like the best option.

Great tutorial. Went through mine trying to salvage it, replaced the fuse, 3 days later cgfi started to pop. There comes a time when you realize it is time to smash and replace. 👍🏼

I found your video, and brought my boyfriend in to watch with me, so he could fix our leaky Bunn. We were both really into the video, We looked at each other, and shrugged our shoulders when you suggested tapping with a hammer. I can tell you my boyfriend was delighted when you destroyed the Bunn. He told me this is the way he likes to fix things. He walked out. I’m now looking on Walmart website. Lololo😂

I bought a replacement unit after the old one (at least 10 years old) stopped heating. Never had issues with it leaking. Last week, not even a year old, leaking actual coffee like a sieve out the bottom.

I am not either. Another issue may be that it’s not level. Also, I fill my pot with water all the way up. I use blended coffee, but I wonder if I’m not grinding it enough and the brew basket is backing up. I always have grounds all over when I empty it. Help!

I like this videi because he found the problem. Did somehing about the problem, bought parts which came to roughly half the price of a new one. Skillfuly and useing only a small hammer he finished. Ultimatly ended with the maching looking and performing just like new. Link for the golden hammer below...

Good video. I have owned Bunn coffee makers, one quit heating, one leaked. New one on it's way now.. My industrial food plant experience has tempted me to repair, but HAVE NOT. Don't want to throw away repairable item, however: Any modification to these would void the UL Rating AND ruin any chance of an insurance claim in case of an accident causing damage to your home (or worse). They do take them to the lab.. Easy Choice...

A simple O ring I had in my drawer worked fine! About 1" diameter. Ace did not have the "price pfister style seat washer" suggested in another video. Also, changing fuse if heating no longer works, is easy and cheap. Total cost to have perfect unit again, $6. Hammer sequence is funny, but not always needed.

Just a dab of rtv and better than new. What have you got to loose. As for the water GFI problem use a leaf blower and it will dry out all the moisture and leave it in the sun on a hot day for a few hours. Works every time.
