That was really interesting how you fixed that odometer error with just some re-programming, without even needing to replace anything,. You certainly have a good knowledge of these clusters and how to fix them. This one had a much different error to the last one that you fixed, so just knowing which chip is faulty is half the battle. You must have a lot of experience with this sort of repair, not to mention having the right gear and knowing how to use it. Not many people would know how to do this sort of repair.

@fix206 Жыл бұрын
I would just be guessing without having the car in front of me so I can run some tests. It could be many different things causing the no start. Fuel pump, fuel pump relay, ECM, crank position sensor, cam position sensor, mass airflow sensor, some stupid blown fuse ... These are just a few things of the top of my head that I would look first...

Hi, I have been following your channel for quite some time and I believe that you are really gifted with these skills ..I try to fix things myself as a diy-er and it's amazing to see someone else also carrying similar interests, you inspire me as well through your videos. I love the content, keep up the great work ! Question: I wanna reset my airbag crash data which is saved in the eeprom chip. Which inexpensive eeprom programmer would you recommend to read such chips?
@fix2065 жыл бұрын
Thanks for kind words bro!!! As far as the airbag crash data reset goes, I haven't personally done it before but know for sure that the programmer that I use can be used for that... it's a GQ-4x4 programmer and they generally run right around $100, but there are a lot of cheaper options out there that work just fine. I'd for sure recommend the one I got if you're going to be using this programmer a lot, because I think it's of better quality then most other cheaper ones. But if programming for you will be once in a blue moon then It wouldn't really matter if you go with cheaper ones. Cheers !!!

There is definitely a learning curve to most things including programming a cluster, anyone can learn how to do it, but if it something you'll do once or twice then it's just not cost effective. Good afternoon, damn man that is unbelievable. Where did you aquire this mastery of the electronics wizardry? What kind of flux was that you used on the chip connections. Thanks for the informative video.

There Is really not that much to it, I'd say my skill level is just a couple of notches above basic, so I am far from being an "electronics wizard". So will the chip continue to record and store odometer readings even while displaying error until it can be reprogrammed? My father has an odometer error and until I am able to get it fixed I would be curious if it will continue to store mileage?
@cmitchell17a12 жыл бұрын
Have you ever looked into the defect on these clusters where all of the sudden the hour meter will reset? It's a known issue with these and with the newer (07-13 GMT-900s) clusters as well. It seems like it's probably a similar problem and the chip recording it gets corrupted and doesn't know what to do so it resets, not sure if you could ever recover the original hours though. On these 03+ GMT-800s they were a mix of mostly class 2 communications, and they will do some weird things sometimes, so I wonder if that contributed to the chip getting corrupt. It seems like OEMs would have to make more robust odometer systems since I think there is some laws to prevent tampering and resetting the odometer, but I guess they still have issues. The hours I don't think is a requirement, so they don't care about the reliability of that part.

hi,i would like to ask you if there is a way to change the language on the odometer on a JDM 2016 TOYOTA SIENTA , from Japanese to English.
@fix2065 жыл бұрын
There is Probably a way, the cluster would need to be reprogrammed with a similar file from from another cluster that would be in English. I've done the same thing in the past with Canadian clusters that I converted to US based ones. Because Canadian clusters display the mileage in kilometers and by reprogramming I wound switch them to miles.

Or alternatively, if I buy a working used cluster, can you program my original milage into the donor cluster? Thanks, I tried to replace it with one cluster that I bought from eBay and it still had the same exact blinking error... Guess that's why it was sold cheap. Now additionally my OBD II scanner shower an error called U0109 that did not exist before and this can be erased but immediately returns... I believe this code means: "FAULT CODE U0109 LOST COMMUNICATION WITH FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE" I'm puzzled as I did nothing with the fuel pump though I moved some fuses to make sure they are fine and put them back.
