Well, in the US now more women get a PhD than men, so it shouldn't make much of a difference. Everyone's journey is different. It's always good to see how other people do it in comparison to yourself OR if you are curious about doing one.

women and people of colour are hired and enrolled more frequently than men because of moral superiority. Just look at scholarship awards... its sad... thats why Canada is fucked - our cabinet is soley based off gender and race, not qualifications....

Madilyn Ellis hey I'm a bio and environmental science major but my friend is a biochem major. In undergrad there isn't much research especially in the beginning, we're both going into third year and haven't really done any research. As for choosing a college or university to attend it may be best to choose somewhere that may cater to that part of the sciences, however I feel like most places are the same especially in undergrad. Good luck! :)

I have only just discovered you this past week, but I have already come to admire you in such a short amount of time! My mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in January 2013. She has had plenty of setbacks, and is recovering from one right now. Your dedication to this particular topic is something so wonderful that I cannot even describe fully (otherwise this comment would never end). Ovarian cancer needs all the research it can get considering that it is well-known to be diagnosed when it's too late, something this video also highlighted. Congratulations, Stephanie! You deserve everything and more for your sacrifice and contribution! I wish you all the best moving forward!

This honestly got me emotional lol. Just because I’m the type of person to adore seeing people succeed. I’ve struggled so much for years & there’s times I don’t feel smart enough to continue with school. Joining the military, I was thrown in the medical field, something I swore I’d NEVER get myself into. Working with patients, doctors, nurses, it’s so inspiring & never did I think I’d ever want to pursue the PA program. I still have so much ahead of me in order to accomplish this, but you are truly such an inspiration to me & many of us watching your videos. It’s amazing how you can balance everything the way you do & make it look so easy! So proud of you & I wish you & everyone watching this, nothing but the absolute best in anything you set your goals to ❤️

Congrats! I know how hard this has been for you no doubt, currently halfway through my PhD (HIV vaccines), and we both know how difficult things can be and the mental toll a PhD can have on someone :P So important to have a loving partner who can be there for you, and a kick ass fitness regime to keep the body and mind healthy

Oh, I'd love to hear about that and where things are four years later. Being an armchair epidemiologist my self, I find the HIV virus fascinating.😉

This is my favorite video so far! You have no idea how inspiring you are to people who are trying to balance fitness, school, relationships and just having a life in general! I'm currently going for my Masters degree, and whenever I feel like "I need sleep" I think of your channel. Thank you, and pleaseeee keep posting!

Yo, make more science videos! There so interesting. Almost graduating out of chemical engineering, but my alternative was something in biology like what you're doing. The field is so interesting, i always loved the lab setting.

This is such an excellent recap of the dissertation defense process. It also reminds me of when I worked on my Ph.D. at USF. A few of my lab mates and I lived in the same apartment complex as you. This video brought back so many good memories for me. So happy that I stumbled upon it.

Omg you are just a positive inspiration to the fitness community! You are living proof that you can totally combine fitness with another passion. I am studying biochem + computer science in college to be a physician and love fitness, and have done research in labs like yours with PhD students and Post-Docs, amazing experience! I heart ELISAs :)
