1. Consume media in English 2. Normal Speed + subtitles ( focus on what they are talking about ) - 3 - 4 hrs every single day - move on after udnerstanding videos without subtitles 3. Watch media without subtitles - after watching a video or episode try to explain to yourself what you’ve just watched in English without translating into other languages 4. Start to read in English - after reading an article try to explain / summarize in your own words / english 5. Speed up videos to 1.25 / 1.5 - 6. Do it for a year ( think in English )

Hi Ruri, Native English speaker here. Wanted to tell you that your grammar is actually very good in English. You make some mistakes but remember language is a communication tool. If you don’t have perfect grammar but still sound fluid and can be understood then you’re fluent. Also, like any language, lots of native English speakers make grammar mistakes frequently; and not on purpose. Late comment but hope you see this and give yourself more credit. 👍

I too recommend studying grammar as the last step. Learning how the grammar is constructed is actually a very complicated task and it kills motivation. I watched this video out of curiosity, and I found myself agreeing with her study path, and I belive that's the only efficient way to learn languages. Focus on consuming tons of content first, then let your brain do the rest. I'm currently studying Chinese as my 4th language.

First off all we dont need any grammer for leasining english. Because american people never follow any grammer. But they can talk with someone easily. Lot of people are giving there attention in grammar. And that is totally rong way. Yes we need grammer but first we need to achive in english. I saw a video from a Poliglote at the TED TALKS, and She just said: Have fun!, MAN just this, enjoy your learning process, enjoy your life, and I'm still at the process but I'm happy with my english. Congratulations, you really accomplished your goal. I'm a teacher and it's amazing, but every step that you mentioned are my basic method recommendations to my students. And I add the grammar too, so they can be really good in English. That's how I learned and became fluent too. And you're totally right, you cannot use these tips if you don't have any knowledge of the language. But it can be a start too. And don't worry, all of them are based in different methods and approaches.

I honestly don’t know why I’m watching this , I learned English 20 years ago , by the way , she absolutely hit the nail on the head when she said you don’t need to go to school or study grammar to acquire a language, I leaned English and French on my own , Spanish is my mother tongue but nonetheless congrats on your English level and for all of you who are honing your English skills , here is a useful piece of advice : don’t forget your shower conversations ! Reading is key stay curious and pay close attention to everything you hear or read. This will take your English to the next level

As a native German speaker myself I found that English was rather easy to learn, I also learned most of what I know today through media consumption. I started my English learning journey at the age of 7 with the help of a dictionary and video games. Back then you had to understand English or you couldn't read the text at all, there also was no voice acting back then so you had to make sense of the letters. English had a "cool" appeal to me right from the start, it felt much more modern than my old fashioned mother tongue. That said, I was always surrounded by English words as most songs that were played in the radio were in English luckily. The grammar in English is much easier but also a bit different from German so I still manage to get it wrong in English sometimes, which will result in some odd looking sentences for a native speaker. Though I guess they are pretty much used to it as English is the language that most foreign people learn in school and use to communicate with someone that doesn't understand their mother tongue...

I realized that I was actually studying English in this whole time in my own. I've been doing all of the steps you counted in last 4 years. The problem is I'm not doing them regularly. Based on your advice, I started using the English subtitles (my native language) on the videos I am watching in other languages. It works very well. I have been watching without subtitles for a long time. Using the subtitles makes me aware of how many words I don't understand, and it helps me learn those words more quickly. Also, talking to yourself in the target language is very helpful. I do it all the time.

I've never seen a better tip than this video. very helpful for you guys. there is no short cut to be a fluently speaker. you have to repeat and repeat, unfortunately that is best way to lean. but as she said . keep leaning everyday. it gets easier. but you gotta do it everyday. that's the hard part. good luck to all you guys

As a Turkish person from England, I can confidently say that your English accent is very good and you're so fluent. I feel that Turkish people who learn English through school / independently have a thick Turkish accent which is inevitable but you have been able to overcome this! Especially because the grammar in English is hard because it never follows a certain rule, it's sort of a free language where the rules keep changing. Your advice in this video is very true because I started to consume Spanish media and listen to Spanish songs and although I can't speak it very well, I am able to understand most Spanish words when I didn't even do this on purpose.

It's funny, because I learned english the exact same way as you did. Not even purposefully, but just over time I spend more and more time watching/reading things in english. I was even able to get to the hardest english school in my country without any studying. There are certain parts of English that I still suck at, but I can 100% confirm this method works and if you are lazy like me it's incredibly easy. Only real issue is the beginning steps when you really just don't understand the language at all. That part is hard work. Always.

I aggre with you 100%, when the pandemic began I was very basic in English but with the free time that it brought to us I started to watch videos here totally in English. A few months later I can understand almost everything on a normal speak speed, I struggle with the songs and fast speakers and also to express myself with confidence so I going to take advantage to step 3 to 5.

I like the idea of summarizing what you have read and listened. It’s a process of learning again. As for my personal way of learning, I create content in English and speak in front of the camera. Posting English videos is one of my goals to improve my English too. I found that after listening to my recording, I can easily recognize my English pronunciation and grammar mistakes so I can intentionally correct myself. Highly suggest this method.

this is basically the exact way I learned English by myself, now I'm gonna try to do the same thing with Korean and so far it's going pretty well. Good luck to everyone who's trying this method for the first time because it'll take a LOT of patience, just enjoy the ride and you'll be satisfied with the results. I'd also like to recommend to study the grammar too if it's a language with a whole other alphabet. For example, Korean and Japanese have different alphabets and phrase structure than English, so If you want to speed up the process a bit try to study the grammar first, then use this method.
