I'm 67, was pescatarian for about 10 years, then vegan for the last 3-4 years. I remember being on a mission to find and try as many alternatives to all the foods I liked, mostly junk food. I've put on about 10-15 pounds. This is helping me so much as I've been trying out different PBWF channels and yours is so relatable. Thank you.

This was sooooooo helpful from 2 people who have lived through it. I am half way there and I was going to do raw vegan to get off the last 50 but I do not like the whole thing just parts of it but was going to try and push through it. This helped me realize the other 50 will come off it’s a marathon not a sprint and the thought of only raw food is really not that appealing in the long haul-no shade on people that enjoy it. I will stick with WFPB slowly but surely. I already do a bunch of exercise so good there.

I don't always eat the full plant based way. My boyfriend is a meat eater (working on him!) and full confession- I had an impossible burger (vegan) and fries when we went on a date to a diner tuesday night. But- it was a wonderful date, and I cheated on WFPB, but still stuck with the vegan food, and I realized that even with the cheating, it was probably the healthiest thing on the menu😆

What an incredible inspiration! I went vegan 2 years ago and 35 pounds just melted off, but then got caught up in a cycle of falling off and getting back on the wagon. I get little to no exercise depending on the season….limited mobility and snow are not a good combination 😢 I think the reframing of my thoughts will do me wonders to get back into things and get back on this weight loss journey so I can get my life back. Fortunately all my screw ups only resulted in gaining back 10 pounds so I didn’t get pushed back too far. Thank you both for your tips and sharing your story!😊

I am a vegan, but a takeout fanatic, so I only eat half of whatever I want then supplement the rest of the meal with 1/2 avocado, salad, and 2 c. steamed vegetables, therefore, I can have my cake and eat it too....literally I would eat half a slice with mega amounts of fruit :)

This interview was enjoyable and informative. Just an FYI, in case Andrea does consider skin removal: I had an abdominoplasty (skin removal plus ab muscle repair) and some liposuction of the flanks. It was incredibly painful to heal from (the lipo more so than the abdominal incision) and I also developed a DVT and blood clots in both lungs. Seven months later, I can say I would 100% do it again. (only with Lovenox shots to prevent the clots) I may not have the perfect body of a 20-year-old, but I feel good in all my clothes and in a bathing suit. Pain is temporary.

Great interview!! Which Ninja blender model do you have Andrea? I had one of the 1st Ninja blenders for 10+ years -Loved it!! ... then the blade got dull...got it replaced ... then the blade holder broke & couldn't repair it 😣 I have an Omega blender now but no pouring spout, terrible lid (spurts & leaks so I have to put a cloth over it & babysit it!), no safety measures like the Ninja's safety button built into the lid that won't allow the blender to start without it latched on properly. I've been having success with weekly cheat meals. I think it's slowed down my progress slightly but I've been sustaining weight loss for 4 months. Plus cheat meals seem to get digested easier when the rest of my diet is plants.

What a great interview with very good advice from Andrea. She seems very honest and down to earth. I like the advice about being at your "best weight" versus your "ideal weight" because that may be not a sustainable weight for you. There is so much information out there. Dr Furhman says that the recommended BMI's of up to 24.5 are really too high, that everyone's BMI should be about 21. That is very difficult to attain for many people, especially those who have struggled with their weight in the past. I have struggled with my weight my entire life, first as an overweight person, then as a thin person (BMI usually 20.5-21), trying not to regain weight and maintain a healthy weight and my health. It's been exhausting and stressful at times through the years. At first when I became committed to healthy veganism, it was difficult if others were eating my favorite foods like veggie pizza with cheese, and I chose to get a cheese-less veggie pizza. Now it is much easier for me since I have been immersing myself in the WFPB world of KZbinrs for the past 15 months and having been so positively and profoundly influenced by those I follow. Some people do not understand that many thin people, especially those who have been overweight in the past, struggle to maintain their weight by counting calories, weighing and recording their food intake daily on an app, weighing themselves daily, restricting their eating, all in the name of maintaining good health and their best weight. Again, it is exhausting at times. I had stopped recording my food, which was freeing, but then I started again about 10 days ago because my weight was creeping up and I did not want to gain. I don't mind it, in fact it's kind of fun because I get to see if I am meeting my micronutrient needs and it keeps me on track to not over consume calories. At some point, I will stop again. but like Andrea, I want to do it for now. And yes, I agree that some people feel self conscious about their own negative habits and feel the need to make comments about someone who has changed their lifestyle for the better. I also liked her comment about "movement" instead of "exercise". Jeremy, I have not heard you mention your skin removal surgery before. I am glad you are more comfortable now. You look great! Thanks for this video! Happy and healthy New Year to you and your family! 😘

Thanks for writing all of this. It’s such a journey for all of us. I should do a video where I talk about the surgery a bit and stuff around that. In my mind I’ve got about ten pounds or so I could shed but ironically I weighed in today and I’m the exact same weight I was a year ago today which clearly means that’s a weight my body is comfortable being at with my lifestyle so maybe that’s the right weight for me.
@vi347211 ай бұрын
@@pbwithjeremy Yes, sounds reasonable. If you are happy and feel good, then you are likely where you should be. You eat so healthfully and cook so well. It’s great that you have maintained your weight for an entire year! I think many of us often think we could lose a little more, even if we are at a healthy weight. Even if I gained a little weight, I’d still be considered to be at a healthy weight, but I have gotten used to being my current weight and I am comfortable, so I want to avoid gaining. I’ve heard you say your weight loss went too far at one point and you needed to regain a little. When we look at ourselves, we can be so critical. Also, sometimes, having been overweight in the past, some of us don’t see how we actually currently are, but still see our former self to some degree. My husband and I are like that. We don’t always see our thin selves. You exercise routinely, which is so great! I need to work on that, personally. Looking forward to your upcoming videos! I’ll be watching!

I have been a vegetarian all my life and a vegan since 2013. I like my white rice, alternative milk and raw sugar in my coffee. I eat white bread and vegan cheese occasionally. I do cook with some olive oil, so I am not whole food plant based. My aim is to cause as little harm to other living beings as possible. I was just wondering whether people who go on a Whole Food Plant Based Diet for other reasons share the same values as us vegans and shun all animal products like silk, fur and leather or they limit their plant based choices just to what they are eating? Its an innocuous question not meant to hurt anyone's lifestyle choices or beliefs.

I think everyone who goes WFPB would have a different answer for you. Mine is a combination of health, environment, and animal welfare, and luckily they all sort of go hand in hand. But I'm far from perfect, and our kids still consume dairy, etc... so I don't consider us vegans outright though we largely eat that way.

I am curious. Does Andrea no longer have Diabetes, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and NASH? I have all 3 as well and more and have lost weight-my endocrinologist says too much- and lowered my A1 C to 6.1 through my restricted diet i.e. no gluten, no grains, no dairy, etc. Would incorporating more of your plant free recipes lead to the same results for me?

I can't speak for Andrea, but I think a lot of people our age were raised on the SAD diet with parents who had no concept of nutrition and balance.
