How I Tie My Lead Ropes On To My Halters

I think this is the easiest and most effective way to attach a lead rope on to a halter. This has never failed me and maintains still an easy way to change out lead ropes if I want or replace old ones.

I'm so glad you don't use bits or mettle I just watched someone uses a bit on a three year old and mettle halter on the tree year old together. Also what is a good age to start riding a horse is a three year old with a heavy person on them safe for the three year old.

Horses shouldn't be started until 5. Their skeletal structure hasn't finished forming up enough to handle weight for longevity of life. Maybe short little 5 minute rides or so after 4 but hold off on longer or more intense rides until after 5. The later the better essentially.

@@StableHorseTraining l heard someone talking about kissing spine and how it was linked with starting too young and doing too much esp weight carrying before they are strong and muscled enough. So painful for the poor horse and makes for a dangerous riding situation until diagnosed and hopefully fixed. A good reason to wait I think.

I use the Larkshead knot on my power kites! Perfect knot for locking on when getting pulled.

I like how you think about how stuff feels for the horse. We used clip ropes as kids (all we had) and boy did they hurt your shins or your head when you whacked yourself with them! Muchly associated with how well they twirled but not wholely. 🙄🤭

... And surely metal snap hooks are heavy and uncomfortable for both horse and handler. Good idea your purple knot.. When on trail rides I learnt how to make a special knot (virole) with the lead rope which also undo in case the horse pulls back. Some horses can really hurt themselves if the rope doesn't undo. The knot is a psychological tool for he horse. I have no translation word for "virole" it must be idiomatic.

Yes, metal hooks are the worst and don't help either horse or handler as they take a lot of the feel away through the sheer weight of them. Let alone that they constantly hit horses in the chin bone
