This was cut from a tree and sent to me by Chris Chadwick. I then cut the burl portion from the partial log he sent and turned it into a beautiful live edge bowl. Finished in shellac.

Thank You Phil, Thank You Chris Chadwick....That is one neat-o looking piece of possibility Phil.... As you know I have been looking at (untouchable) burls all morning thinking of the possibilities. Come home and look what you are doing 👍👍👍👍👍... I do not run into any Ash Burls (think I am in the wrong part of the country) but Oak, yea all over the place... I love the grain and the bark and the whole show (but u knew that, ha) until next time Phil....TM

@@tuffymartinez I have a VERY SPECIAL CHALLENGING one to send him…. Just have to find the right box…. It is the one I cut from the oak tree on my farm in the video…. @@ECP Chris it is always fun sending wood to Phil & I never expect Phil to choose any of the wood I send him BUT I always have fun when he does. Chris thank you for the offer. I am not a wood turner, I am just a manual machinist. My wood turning experience is very limited so the wood I have accumulated will last this old fellow the rest of my life (& I expect to live to 110, HA) but again Thank You Chris! I will look forward in the future to see what Phil decides to turn each week. I never know and it is always a surprise 😁... TM

Another burl that has been turned by the guy. It looks very cool Phil. All the colors are nice but the inside tops it all off. I did see a face in the inside when you first held it up. And the finish is perfect for this piece. Sure a nice shellac finish for sure. My can of shellac as gone bad. Time to get another I guess. Problem was I thought I was saving money getting the gallon size. I can hear a shelf full of burls watching you come in. "Look out boys here he comes!" Great job buddy! Gary

I think I go through thee cans of sealer to one can of shellac, Gary. The wood just loves to soak up the sealer but it does a great job so not much shellac is needed. I'd never get through a gallon of the stuff. LOL! I'd love to have a shelf full of burls! 😃

Another beautiful piece of art Phil. I sure do love burl and I have some cherry that I have been sitting on, until I figure out what to do with it. People say "Let the wood tell you what it wants to be." Mine isn't talking to me, so I guess it's mad at me.🤣

Truly beautiful Phil, but I think the true beauty lies in the fact that you have good friends who send you things that you can coax the sensational finished items from.

Hi Phil, Glad that your choosing to put your wood blocks on your lathe before you start videoing, that way it stops any health and safety issues being shown. Love your bowl
