Idk that that’s totally fair. To Citius he didn’t say he WONT go for it. It was out of humility. He said essentially his results are outcomes of training not intentional attempts to do something. Whether that’s true is irrelevant other than I don’t think he’s provided significant evidence that says he ONLY attacks a record after telling people. While he didn’t overtly signal it, I mean it is a good place to do it. And it’s not that slow of a track. Bislett has seen more than 2 dozen world records - which is more than Hayward Field.

U can call me crazy but I think Katir will push Ingebritsen really hard. He has had a very underated season with going #2 all time in the indoor 3k and that very impressive and underated 5k recently when he won agianst 90% of the worlds best. I really think it can be close and Ingebritsen must be in good form to win. Love your channel from NO. Watch it several times weekly. However, Jakob never said he would attempt any 1500 WR at Oslo. In fact they (team and Jakob) advised upfront that if anyone could beat him this season, it would be at Oslo. Understandable, due to few days since Paris 2 mile WR. He also told, he plan to run "fast" at Poland, on July 16th. OR Lausanne today. Its rainy at Lausanne today, so my best guess is Poland, if conditions ok etc. However, WR at 1500 will not happen, nor in Poland. He's not there quite yet. Maybe low 27, or high 26. If same progression next year. Then maybe, just maybe. Separate note; I think he has it in him at this season to break 1 mile, 2000 and 3000 WR. If he has the chance after WC. Doubtful all of them, but hope he attacks some of them. His first comment in Norwegian media after 2 mile WR was 1 down, 9 to go. Sub 3:20 is way, way more impressive than the 3:40 mile. It's 6 seconds shaved off the time instead of 3. Besides, the 1500 m record is already greater than the mile. In fact, the pace for the current 1500 m world record would lead to a mile record of 3:40 today (it is only 109 meter longer so it's not that much more fatiguing) So a sub 3:40 mile could be very possible in the near future if anybody can break the current 1500 meter record. But the problem is that it is a distance that isn't run nearly as often as the 1500 meters. Sub 3:20 for the 1500 meter would be the equivalent to a sub 3:35 mile if you allow the runner to slow down to about 3:21 speed (to allow for running just a little bit longer).

Komen's 7:58 was just the proof a man can run 2 consecutive miles under 4:00 each, but not really what he was capable of IMO. Just look at the 3k WR with the pace well below 30s/200m - why would he need 38s for the remaining 218m.. Komen was probably able to run 2 miles very close to 7:50.

I ran so fast on the 29th June that I broke the time barrier ((E=MC2) x(1/2MV2), and ended up here in 15 June 2023.

Cheruiyots dominance is over. I honestly believe Jakob will break the 2000m WR next month. By next year he will have bettered all of HEG s records. Plus the 3000m
@ToddWood-qb5ib Жыл бұрын
With that field and his condition, it is not unreasonable to see a 3:27

To Norwegian TV: «I have now taken one world record. Now I'll go after the other nine.». In other words, he wants every record from 1500 and up 😀

Running under 3:28 is a big ask....except for one who just ran 7:54 for the deuce and is therefore at the top of his game right now.

i used to think the 7.20 3k was out of reach. With Jakob now, nothing is off the table . Once in a generation phenomenon . My question for you guys is, clocking 7.24 at 3k, does that register as a PB for him etc?
@jamie.lennon1 Жыл бұрын
On his World Athletics profile page, it now has 7:24:00 has his 3000m PB. So it must be official.
@robinbauer1975 Жыл бұрын
Sorry but I belive he can break the 3.000m and 5.000m and 2.000m WR rn But for the 3:26 you need alot of natural speed And Jakob said himself he is a strentgh and endurance based athlete not speed based But I hopes we see a WR someday. But in June it might be to early This Oslo meeting and the Rome/Florence meeting actually were El Guerrouj go to 1.500m/Mile WR attempt meetings

How he "broke" it, is quite the understatement. Kinda like Faith Kipyeagon "barley" broke Hasaans mile record.😅

Technically the 2 mile isn’t a recognized distance. Therefore, it was a world best and not a world record.

@Magnus_Loov Жыл бұрын
@@victorhopper6774 It is important though. A distance that is so seldom run won't matter nearly as much as the official distances. They won't show up for the historic Athletic/Track and Field record lists for a good reason. I bet 99.9% didn't even know that the 2 mile was something that was run. I hadn't heard about this record until this race. Heck, even the mile record is an odd distance and is nowhere near as good as the 1500 m record. It should be 3:40 and not 3:43.
@victorhopper6774 Жыл бұрын
@@Magnus_Loov millions used to run those races. i could not care less what you or others declare offical. pretty obvious every guy in that race thinks its real. ever wonder why certain metric distances are not run? like a 1000 meter. or a 2000 meter. its simple, its cause there were no relatable distance in yards or miles that used to be run. measurement is a social construct just like language.

@@billybud9557 Don't get me wrong the 2 mile record was ultra impressive, it's just not run as much as other distances, it's a bit of a exhibition distance.... Insane performance though by Jakob, Norway are producing some real beasts.

What do you think the odds of Jacob running sub 12 minutes in a 3 mile or is that too much to ask?
@brentburnett6658 Жыл бұрын
Asking too much but I thought that as well. Seems doable based upon the fact he just did back to back sub 4 miles. Jakob might put a stick 🆙 are arse for suggesting it but seems reasonable as long as it be him and not us

He did not pass out after the race, that means he had more in the tank, I say about 5 seconds worth. I don't want him to hurt himself , but now that he has the record , he can go for it the next time!

5sec?? No, he did not, thats a really uninformed take.

How about if he breaks 3.28 first, not to mention 3:27. I don't know if he has enough pure foot speed to get past 3:27 frankly.
