I'm studying youtubers and KZbin in general (I'll be big soon), but it's refreshing to see someone do a video breaking down one of my favorite creators, because I came in on the initial wave of James Jani content and seeing his virality broken down is extremely useful. It's a good thing for notetaking because it shows just HOW far filling in a niche and providing legitimate content can take someone when they sit down and apply themselves; it's a prime example of why you should study, take notes, prepare, and practice before you start making KZbin content. Thanks again for making such an amazing video on James, John. Particularly the part about emotion linked to virality and the responses elicited from audiences by viral videos was very interesting and informative. I hope you do more content like this in the future!

They also look the exact same. Coming from a white guy, they have extremely similar facial features their voice sounds the same, age, hair color, etc. I litterally was questioning if he was talking about himself in a weird third person narrative for the entire video. @@quinns3072funny remark. I'm a white guy and taught at an African university for almost three decades. I was once approached on campus by a student who started to explain why he had missed my test. I stopped him and said I haven't had a test for a while and asked which course he was referring to. He was talking about one in Economics and I said he was mistaken since I was teaching Philosophy. He insisted that it must've been me (and we were standing outside the Economics building). So I jokingly asked him: Do all white guys look the same to you? He immediately said yes. So I laughed some more and asked him: Can you blame whites for thinking the same about blacks? (Of course neither was true). At least we both had a good laugh.

This was honestly one of the best videos about growing on youtube! I am an artist and mum of two. I started my channel back in october 2019. I thought it would help keep me accountable to do art if I commited to posting once a week, but all it really has done is make me do smaller quicker artworks, so I will have content. I have been breaking myself with the pressure of weekly uploads. All my enthusiasm is evaporating and I think I'm in Seth Godin's 'Dip' for a few months now turning into a pit. This is such a great insight you shared here my take away is that its ok not to post every week, one awesome video a month with an equally awesome artwork may actually be a better path to take! Thanks so much for this! 💜
@MagnatesMedia3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing, and I'm really glad this video was useful for you. You have already summed it up perfectly yourself, but I just wanted to say I completely agree. In my experience of analysing channels, one awesome video a month almost always beats a rushed weekly video. Especially if it's affecting your enjoyment of the process. Now of course, you don't want to become a total perfectionist where a video never gets posted because you're always trying to improve it even more, but I definitely don't think forcing yourself to stick to a weekly video is a good idea if it's negatively affecting your art and your enthusiasm. James Jani is proof that prioritising quality over quantity pays off, and now that I am focusing on 'documentary style' videos myself, I am starting to see a similar thing. Best of luck! :)

Thank you for watching, and I hope this video gave you a few insights that 'KZbin gurus' don't normally talk about. James commented on a few of my old videos back when he first started on KZbin, and so I have quite literally seen his channel from when he had under 1000 subscribers. We've spoken quite a few times since then, and it became clear that even though his editing is great, there were several other things he was doing that caused his videos to perform so well with the algorithm. However, even though we can work out what James did so well, that still doesn't mean it's easy. And so I just want to stress that this video is not claiming there's a magical cheat code for youtube success... what I am claiming is that this video will provide some tangible principles to focus on. I am very certain that if you focus on these things, your channel will grow faster. This channel certainly has started doing better since I adopted many of these techniques myself. Please feel free to subscribe if you'd like to see more James-inspired documentary style videos. 🔔

That's awesome to hear, best of luck with your channel! You already have foundation to build from since you have over 10k subscribers. If I can ever help at all, please just let me know. I did notice you mentioned about making KZbin a career, and so you may be interested in our KZbin course ( magnatesmedia.com/ytm-order ) if that's the case, as it's designed for people looking to monetize their channels & turn it into more of a business, meaning you don't need crazy high viewing figures to make a full-time income from it. Either way, very glad this video was useful for you, and I look forward to seeing your progress! You've got this!

@@MagnatesMedia Sure! I admire your attitude, you've given such a fresh perspective. I'm going to sign up with skillshare using your affiliate link so I can do those Daniel Scott courses you mentioned. Hope it supports you :)

I am also working on expanding my own KZbin course ( magnatesmedia.com/ytm-order ) to cover my exact video creation process in a lot more depth. However you can definitely get started with editing like this just from free KZbin tutorials as a starting point; lots of great resources out there. :) I wish you the best of luck with your channel - I see you already have nearly 15,000 subscribers and are clearly making some great videos. Thanks a lot James! Check out the end portion of the video, I mention a specific skillshare course that James said he used, and that I've been looking at too. You can try it for free for 14 days too with link in description so don't have to commit to paying anything. However I also think just watching other videos for inspiration, and then looking up free tutorials on youtube of how to achieve similar effects, is a great way to improve as well. I'm now in a position where I can have an editor help me too, and I would definitely recommend that if it's an option, as this kind of style can be time consuming to do everything yourself (although I still think it's worth it long-term). Best of luck!

Hey Roberto, sorry for the confusion but my name's John. I made this video about James because I'm a fan of his channel and wanted to help creators understand the algorithm better. I know it's a little confusing because we both have British accents and make 'documentary style videos' but we're different people/channels. 😂 If you liked this video, feel free to check out some other videos on my channel and you'll see the difference more. Thanks again for the kind words.
