Not one judge gave Chaves a rd through rd 6. Roger quit in the 7th. He later explained the mafia dudes was sitting on each side of his mother in the 3rd row. They wanted him to throw the fight. He originally declined. Said he'd figured if he whooped Chavez for the 1st half of the fight and took no damage intelligent people would know he was forced to throw it... .guess that means you weren't included......bottom line is Chavez was PROTECTED.

Roger took a right on the initial circle, still proceeded to circle and took a gazelle right hook to the face. @@jodrano9356 Classically when people refer to Mexican boxers it's referring to both the style and the nationality. The take-two-to-give-one style of physically dismantling an opponent while they're pointing you up in the early rounds, which will be irrelevant when they're being counted out a few rounds later. Outside of Mexico, fighters aren't generally linked with their nationality as consistently. It's because to sports-writers, "Mexican boxer" something more than "a boxer who was born in Mexico". Juan Marquez is Mexican, but it's virtually never mentioned, whereas Chavez is the archetype of the Mexican boxer.

Chavez tapping his cup signifying "Ive got bigger balls than him" after Mayweather quit on his stool, it's a machismo thing. This was a beautiful display of skill from the greatest Mexican champion to ever lace up a pair of gloves, I subscribed instantly man your narration is flawless. Julio is an icon for my Mexican raza and the purest form of "Mexican style" boxing. He left everything in that ring, 88-0 until he lost but even when he did the opponent knew he was in a real fight and nothing came easy against Julio Cesar Chavez.

The first time I ever saw Chavez fight was his second fight vs Mayweather. I was 19 and I was dating this 39 yr old chick from Peru. She told me "Julio Cesar Chavez is fighting tonight." I asked who he was. She was shocked that I had never heard of him and said he was 60 and 0. I told her that was impossible (I knew that the best fighters at the time, e.g., Nunn and Tyson had records of around 30 and 0, so I thought 60 and 0 could not have been true). Anyway, she was right about the record; we watched the fight (on Telemundo) and I became a fan thereafter.

@@MikeSmith-ym9eq if he wasn't injured why was it so easy to beat him in the rematch the first fight was close rematch was easy work
@MikeSmith-ym9eq2 жыл бұрын
@@MrWarmanG One does not necessitate the other… there could be many reasons: better preparation, knowing the opponent better and from square one, better PEDs (no knowledge of such, but at this point, we’re speculating possibilities, not certainties), etc. Regardless of the second fight, though, Castillo won the first fight, Whitaker defeated JCC, and RJJ won gold in the Olympics. There is no sport as contradictory as boxing: the matching of two men of relatively equal skill deciding relative greatness in a match independent of all outside forces judged by a panel sometimes tainted by the inept or dishonest. IMO, something was amiss with Floyd when Castillo won. Perhaps his shoulder, or perhaps on that initial meeting, JLC was to Floyd what Tarver was to RJJ. Either way - shoulder or puzzling opponent - Floyd proved his greatness with his subsequent dismantling of JLC.

Chavez definitely was one of the best counterpunchers in boxing history. Able to get knockouts with either hand. But what is little known about Chavez is during his career, he has had to undergo many physicals and a occasional MRI or brain scans to insure his safety which I'm sure all pro boxers had to endure. Some specialist doctor who studies the brain and skull said Chavez has a slightly thicker skull than most people! He can withstand more head shots! However, lots of people have this!
