I just wish there were more boss fights. Like maybe a Beetle chase during the photo side mission, a fight with the Enforcers during the final Fisk Mission.

They'll definitely improve that factor... from bryan intihar's mouth, he stressed that there WILL be a lot of villains in Spider-Man 2. If they specifically focus more on diving deep into the side activity content of the open world and improving the immersion. Focusing specifically on the civilians of New York, the deep crime that runs the streets, and the villains that we'll have to face and triunph over??? It will be legendary. In God... it will. Freak the collectibles at this point, go towards RDR2, Zelda, and Elden Ring types of levels in going beyond the open world with unique storytelling, either small or long. Amen.

I fully agree that these side-missions are the best part of the game. It really made you feel like part of Harlem’s community. And that Kingpin reveal seemed like it was setting up something really exciting. Around this time a Daredevil game was rumored that was going to take place in my home Chicago (which is also my favorite place on earth). Now this sounded amazing. Chi is the perfect environment for a character like Daredevil. But my question was why would Matt leave Hell’s Kitchen for a prolonged period of time? And then I played these side-missions. They revealed that even with all his power and sway over the city Fisk just can’t bring back his criminal empire while behind bars. No matter how hard he tries he now has two Spider-Men to deal with. It seemed like the perfect setup. Fisk gets out of prison and instantly moves to Chi. Matt simultaneously realizes what this means and knows that he has to follow him. It really made me think that this Daredevil game rumor was true. I’m still upset about this. Lol

Facts that Friendly Neighbourhold App was the BEST thing about this game. I hope they bring it back and fine tune it even more. They made side missions and crimes easy acess and replayable The care they actually put into the Side Missions this time. The first game's side missions outside of a few were just run of the mill tbvh. Didn't feel like we actually had a connection to the city and even when we did talk to civilians it was mostly fetch quest and we NEVER saw those characters again. Pigeon dude is gone, Spider Imposter is never seen again. Wouldve liked to follow up on their stories in the DLC Miles' game was a MAJOR step up but its a side spinoff so corners had to be cut. I hope they go all out with the side missions in the mext game

I can imagine peter geeking out over the whole app concept and wishing he'd thought of it. Maybe excitedly working with ganke on a new version for peter to make use of that can combine police radio calls with app tips and requests for help. It could also sync and work alongside miles' app to make managing crime patrols and districts easier for them both. Especially with scheduling their down time while the other fills in.

This is so true, it might be a hot take but my favorite moment was seeing the kingpin miles scene then rushing to harlem to protect it, it was exhilarating, and then getting the best outfit in the game, it was literally a better ending to me than the actual ending.

Bro... this type of stuff must be a GIANT tease of what insomniac has been focusing the most on their open world experience. Civilians, Crimes, and Villains. I pray that the collectibles are toned down to simple Easter eggs or just gotten rid of entirely to focus on more important stuff. Which is focusing on immersive storylines, either small or long. Diving DEEP into New York City.

I honestly think the whole saving Harlem from the Kingpin storyline was more compelling than the actual main story It’s all good stuff and it’s well handled but something about just doing good by the community feels more compelling than another supervillain’s revenge on a shady company storyline. Plus doing the side missions before getting to the last few missions actually helps the ending work more because you have a better understanding of what’s at stake

I think that the optionality of the missions is why they're so special, or at least part of why. The fact that the player has to choose to do them is a great reflection of why Spider-Man works so well as a character: he could go toe-to-toe with gods and devils, but Spider-Man is Spider-Man because he chooses to take on the responsibility of looking out for the little guy. The player's choice in the matter helps to ground you *as* Spider-Man, you're not forced to, but you choose to anyway. I think that being forced to do these missions would detract from how impactful they are for those reasons. It's a brilliant use of Video Games as a medium, because there's no other medium that can use the audience's action or inaction to help sell the emotional themes of the text.

You forgot to think about how making the side missions apart of the story would affect the story, the fisk confrontation in the first game worked because fisk continues to be important to the story long after his defeat. You could make it work, but you'd have to change the story a little bit, you'd also have to turn it in to one consecutive mission so say a lady and her cat have gone missing miles wants to help her son find his mom and her cat but doesn't take Miles seriously miles finds the lady and her cat, but by the time we get there the is dead, a quick investigation later and we discover that she slipped on on some ice and broke her neck but whats weird is that there is an underground symbol near by, miles comments that the symbol is popping up alot lately and wonders what it means, miles makes an anonymous call to the police about the body and brings the cat back to the son. We later find out that the underground killed the lady because her apartment perfectly placed for their attack on roxxon. I personally think that this would work alot better that just randomly running in to kingpin and then just having him disappearing afterwards Not to mention kingpin was the first big bad in the first game.

8:33 I just wonder how Fisk is gonna handle Miles if they ever fight. Kingpin is so run of the mill that he was the Vanilla opening boss of the first game. How is he gonna deal with Miles Venom and camo💀😭

I doubt Fisk will have a direct confrontation with the Spider-Men in 2. He’ll probably resume his mastermind role and work from the background. For a direct physical threat to serve in Fisk’s place they could introduce the Enforcers.

Now knowing that there are missions specifically for Miles and Pete, I can imagine a joke boss similar to Mysterio in Spider-Man 2 (PS2] where he seems threatening, but Miles just demolishes him in a side mission

The Hailey pairing makes more sense than Gwen in this situation. No idea why everybody want Gwen to he with miles in this game just because she's got mild chemistry in the spiderverse series.

They showed the fat inmates eith Kinglin being the very first one. His presence in this game alone is enoufh to infer that he's gonna he returning in some capacity

Kingpin was shown on Kraven's map. Even though it still looks like he's at the raft! It ain't impossible for him to return... if the likes of Tombstone and Taskmaster were able to return? Then it seems likely that they'll bring him back.

I like to separate the movies and the games because context matters. But yeah Miles is just a mini Peter with no real story of his own even in the movies you can replace him with someone like Ben Reiley or Kaine.

I gotta say. I would be down for a Spider-Man game where the big threat at the end of the main plot was stopping an illegal auction of priceless art. I don't need bombs. I don't need mutant viruses or black holes. I don't even need big boss battles. I'd be down if the final confrontation was like the opener. Web the gun from his hand and web his body to a wall. Done. Each Spider-Man game I feel does the same thing. Main villain from the comics. Sub-villains from the comics. I'd be fine if it were just one per game. And even if they were side missions where higher casualties are the problem, like, 50 people will get hurt 5 dead if they do their thing right now. I'm sick of "Thousands of people are going to die." It's exhausting. And it burns out quickly. What's next? Millions? Billions? Boring. What I'm saying is, I want a pallet cleanser. I want 1 innocent person getting to feel like a big deal. Because they are a big deal. They matter to someone. That random thug in a random neighbourhood shooting a random guy. That mattered. It mattered to Uncle Ben. It mattered to Peter Parker. It matters to Spider-Man. So make a game where the small things matter again.

I think they should’ve been mandatory as well. But I like to think that if they were you’d be in the “Great Responsibility Suit” for them (or at least the first three) then the actual campaign starts and when he changes the suit to be his own that’s when the fourth mission happens.

I wonder if deaf people pick up "accents" in sign language. Like, say there was an intentional mistake in Miles signing something. Then Spider-Man makes that same error. Most audiences won't notice. Deaf players might notice. Hailey would notice. And maybe she puts two and two together.

When the game first came out, I remember people saying that it put way more emphasis on the side content. As opposed to 2018, that focused on the main story. Since in both of these games the side missions are often tied to the stories of individual residents of NYC, and the main stories are about these Spider-Men saving the city. I always thought that it was a cool way of showing that Peter is the Spider-Man of NY, while Miles is the Spider-Man of the people. Don't know if that makes sense.
