@shineautomotive3 жыл бұрын
that would be kool
@timoteiNitrogen Жыл бұрын
It would last for a very long time if the engine was in good condition, the most important thing is that you were doing this on a cold engine - this DRAMATICALLY increases wear rate, because oil is not up to temperature yet, and there might be metal on metal contact instead of everything sliding on a film of oil. Engines mainly get wear on cold starts, not during normal high-rpm operation. Engines are DESIGNED to withstand redlining, it should not damage the engine. You need to watch coolant temperature tho.

you just overheat engine because nobody intended that engine will run max rev when vehicle is stationary. In closer to real condition e.x. 90 mph at 4 gear engine should works many days if not weeks on max rev with additional quite high load.

Is it that bad to redline your car? I usually accelerate until 6.5k revs (limiter) before I shift up when I want to merge fast on the highway and get up to speed with my tiny 1.2 liter engine here in Europe but I never noticed issues doing it. Although it wasnt at 6.5k constantly as I would shift to the next gear when hitting the limiter.
@shineautomotive2 жыл бұрын
Can do what you like with your own cars but sitting on red lion for a long period time won’t do it any good
@Dan.r.la4202 жыл бұрын
It might be different with my car but I don’t think you should be shifting around 2500-3000rpm if your car only revs to 6500rpm. What speed do you top out in 2nd?
@samcharles11662 жыл бұрын
You should change gears before redline, it's less harsh on the engine and much quieter
@imalexrocha2 жыл бұрын
I mean it’ll prolly wear the pieces on your engines faster, you’ll waste more gas, make more noise, amongst other things, you won’t prolly break the engine as long as you keep it bellow redline but still, from 2 to 3.5 I think it’s the optimal range
@JB470002 жыл бұрын
As long as your engine is up to temperature it won’t do it any damage. Will wear out the internal parts faster though.
