It’s so poetic that the two youngsters whom ETH trusted so much this season got him the goals and won us the cup. Really hope we stick with him for at least one more season but if ETH leaves he can leave with his head up high that he has shown he has the tactical prowess to beat the best if he has the players he need and how he helped to gradually improve our academy players is priceless and what other clubs would value.

Genuinely thought we defended nearly as well as real madrid did against them in the CL. compact, narrow and overloaded the center. Means when we were broke, so narrow, could run on so easy, and could stretch the pitch effectively. Worked for both goals. Excellent game. YANITED.

I actually really like this false 9 role for Bruno. I've been saying for ages that our team suits a false 9 more than a target man, but I didn't expect Bruno to fit into it so perfectly. It stops him from coming deep to give the ball away in stupid areas, let's us keep possession more, and puts him in dangerous areas where he can do his best work. I actually think Hojlund has the ability to play a more supportive role up front, but for some reason, Ten Hag insists on leaving him isolated. Amrabat was one of our best players again. I can't believe that Casemiro has been keeping him out of the team all season. I'd also rly like to see Mount in Mctominay's role, playing as a SS just behind Bruno. Mctominay just isn't good enough on the ball to play for us. Mount certainly is, and he also has the ability off the ball that Scott has. This would allow him and Bruno to play in the same team. What a game, Ten Hag better stay for at least another season. So glad to have had Martinez back as well.

I think massive credit should go to ETH. He just gave Pep a taste of what united have been facing all season. What's funny is how Pep did not have an answer to this problem. Apart from Doku, whom I feel could have been closed down better for the goal he scored, City was totally nullified. ETH knew that Halaand's hold up play is not the best, nor is he the best in the air. So ETH just forced the ball wide and tried to close down the space ensuring any attack city made was always out wide, never down the middle. This meant city's best creative players De Bryune and Folden could not really have much impact on the game. Big credit to Ambrabat. While I still am not convinced he should be signed permanently, he actually covered the ground Casimiro could not. He kept the ball when Casimiro would not. Mainoo scored such a cool goal you might mistake him for a striker, but he got lucky, he wasn't sent off. Rasmus was incredible. His desire and fight is something we need to preserve. I really hope Rashford for catch a much needed break and regain his form next season. He did well, but seemed injured for the most part. Well done united. We time and again played out of city press choosing the right moments to thump the ball long, other times keeping the ball. Every player did their job!

Nice work AJ, although personally, I haven't been enjoying how the footballing world treats this kind of approach to fight in games as ugly football, I think this was a beautiful and exemplary display of patience, discipline, baiting and ruthless decisiveness on the break. That too within a limited squad. It shows a respectable flexibility ten Hag has shown for a deserving stage. I understand him trying to play expansively even if they struggle over the journey of a season, because they need to learn that, and make it evident how many squad changes are needed. But he also showed that even as a dutch possession style manager he can also showcase that gritty style to overcome possession based team for cups. And surprise surprise, he had better players of the squad back, and the quality and focus happened again. That's why he needs help in improving the squad, and with an FA Cup win, he definitely deserves time and recruitment to work on.

Yep, so glad ETH stuck with the lessons first applied in the last two league games: false 9, no basketball, fresh legs Hojlund towards the last part of the game. Guardiola was bitter MC failed to take their 4-5 good opportunities after HT with solution-man Doku giving AWB greater problems, plus his other changes. Top credit to Amrabat stepping up with a SOLID performance in midfield, sadly in his last game, if he is truly to return to Inter. He had better be replaced well in the summer, by TWO of his ilk - to cover injury. What a summer this MUST be! The biggest question about the coach, insulted by the nasty & consistent speculation and journo questioning - of course, which had to come, because this billionaire team has been so woeful so often, never mind the truly awful injury stats. Every position should surely be covered by quality AND/OR a workable change to strategic game management! The head coach should be able to meet that demand, no matter where one is in "the project." UTD fans are stuck on the question of ETH, and the morality of sacking him now, when so much other potential quality managerial talent is atm in the whirl! Can't help thinking he should stay for a little while longer, but glad to not be in that boardroom.

I think ETH should be backed, not like you'll get something better on this market as a coach. Poach? he's likely finished and did poorly at both PSG and Chelsea, McKenna? he hasnt even managed a EPL side yet. Thomas Tuchel is a puzzle of whether he'll do good and players will love him or if he'll bring out his other side that makes players hate his guts. Thomas Frank plays defensive tactics similar to Simeone and I bet no one at united would like to see that when they're 0-0 against Everton at Old trafford on the 83' minute. It's just about United players get on the right mentality and work through their weaknesses, get some key players (either through youth recruitment or through *THOUGHT* transfers) and give ETH time to build this abysmal side.
